This eminently practical resource presents the pre-service and practicing therapist with information regarding 112 skills/techniques as well as 1,424 examples of therapeutic responses that can help them utilize those techniques. Students learn directly from the techniques, descriptions and examples. Practice exercises provide opportunities for both student and instructor to discuss choice, purpose, and implementation of techniques. Instructors will find the comprehensive coverage a definite aid in their efforts in pre-practicum, practicum, field and theories. Practitioners will find the list of examples for each technique useful in integrating new skills into their practices.
Really helpful guide for students going into counseling, as well as new counselors. I especially appreciate the easy-to-digest formatting, and use of accessible language. Probably the most useful book I've read in the counseling program so far - I so appreciate the examples for each technique/skill.
I had three textbooks in my Advanced Clinical Skills course and all three were probably among the top best I've been assigned this whole program. I'll definitely re-visit this book again in the future.
