Cenora Rose O'Neill knows her father somehow arranged the trap for Dallas, but she agrees to wed the handsome stranger. She'd do anything to protect her family, and she wants to save herself from the bully Tom Williams. A fine settled man like Dallas will rid himself of her soon enough, but at least she and her family will be safely away from Tom Williams. Texas rancher Dallas McClintock has no plans to wed for several years. Right now, he's trying to establish himself as a successful horse breeder. Severely wounded rescuing Cenora from kidnappers, Dallas is taken to her family's wagon to be tended. He is trapped into marrying Cenora, but he is not a man who goes back on his word. Ah, but what is he to do with a wife and her wild Irish family?
Through a crazy twist of fate, Caroline Clemmons was not born on a Texas ranch. To make up for this tragic error, she writes about handsome cowboys, feisty ranch women, and scheming villains in a small office her family calls her pink cave. She and her Hero live in North Central Texas cowboy country where they ride herd on their rescued cats and dogs. The books she creates there have made her an Amazon bestselling author and won several awards. Find her on her blog, website, Facebook, Twitter, Goodreads, Google+, and Pinterest. I wanted to read something with the word "Irish" in the title on St. Patrick's day, and this was free on Amazon, so decided to give it a quick read. Took me surprisingly long to get through.
The book was kind of similar too Eyes of Silver, Eyes of Gold, though not as good. It was sort of meh, probably not worth your time.
3.5/5.0 I really liked this story, in spite of a few things that really bugged. The plight of the Irish in 19th century America was sad but interesting, as was the combination of the hero being half Indian, the heroine being Irish. It made for a story packed with potential - potential that is used well but in a light, somewhat humorous kind of way.
I guess that is also what bothered me, though. This dynamic could have been met with so much more depth but instead, everything stayed on the surface. I also didn't get the Irish being "gypsies" idea.
This rollicking historical romance is good fun, engaging, full of larger than life characters and confounding challenges. An Irish tenant family have been travelling America with a band of Irish travellers, and when Cenora Rose is abducted, a local horseman and rancher rescues her. This sparks a dignified requirement for them to marry, so as to retain respectability for the lass. While this wasn't what either of the pair expected, their wedding might be a stroke of good fortune, despite their culture clash.
We see how ponies, horses and mules were at the centre of the everyday world and how they were valued, treated and trained. Although I am sure a sale docket would include a description of an animal as well as a name. I had a good time reading the novella and recommend this book to fans of romance. Some mature scenes and strong language mean that readers should be adults or mature teens.
I downloaded a copy from Instafreebie. I chose to review. This is an unbiased review.
A man has his word, self respect and honor, but needs love.
Dallas and Cenora find themselves forced to wed. Many doubts are overcome on both sides as two worlds collide. With the patience and willingness to accept the changes in their lives, the half Cherokee Dallas and Traveler Cenora become examples of what really good people do for family and love.
This is the first time I've read a book by this Author and I regret passing by her books on my tbr list for others. I love her writing! As I have time, I will be catching up with everything she has written and have added her to my favorite authors shelf. She has written a hero and a heroine I can believe in and root for despite all the roadblocks put in their way. Well written with loads of good secondary characters. Looking forward to book #2 to see what else is in store for this family. Sexual situations. JudyE
Caroline Clemmons has written a Fantastic historical story.. containing all the elements you expect from a great romance... A really Feisty..beautiful heroine..A sexy brave and handsome hero.. and of course a baddie thrown in the melting pot..all the interesting and quirky family members who continually make things so difficult for the couple.. This is well researched historical book..this is not my usual kind of book!!! I will Definitely read this authors books again..I LOVED IT
This was a very entertaining book. Love a tall dark & handsome hero! I enjoyed reading about all of Cenora's Superstitions. I really liked the acorn on each windowsill. Liked the fact that even tho it annoyed Dallas, it was also one of the things he loved about her. The book was suspenseful yet it still led you to a good place. I hope we get to see Finn in a book in the future. If you are considering getting this book I would say Yes it is a very Good Read!!! Pam James
Though this story was packed with drama, I enjoyed reading how two people thrown together could bring about so much change for the better. I'd love to read others in this series to see where some of the other characters end up Cenoras brothers especially
Such a beautiful story. The characters keep you riveted. I couldn't put the book down until I was finished. Will definitely be reading more from this author.
Cenora O'Neill was kidnapped and Dallas McClintock came to her rescue, but he was injured in the process. As a result, they were forced to get married. Despite their initial doubts and differences, they eventually learned to overcome them as their two worlds collided. With patience and a willingness to accept the changes in their lives, the half Cherokee Dallas and Traveler Cenora become remarkable examples of what truly good people do for their families and love. The story was full of drama, I enjoyed reading how two people can be brought together and bring about positive change in their lives. I would love to read more books in this series to see where some of the other characters, especially Cenora's brothers, end up. This is the first book I've read by this author, and I was impressed with how well she wrote the hero and the heroine. Despite all the obstacles placed in their way, I found myself wishing for them to find true love and happiness. The book also had a great cast of secondary characters, and I enjoyed reading about all of Cenora's superstitions.
I wanted to like this so much but it starts to get ridiculous around page 50 and continues downward from there in my opinion. I'm torn between one and two stars but I honestly started skimming a lot near the end so I'm giving it one star.
Dallas is tricked into marrying Cenora and, after their wedding night, just seems to accept and instantly fall in love with his new wife. The dialogue was too silly for me. There was some drama between Cenora's family and some of the other Irish travelers. Every problem Dallas, Cenora and her family ran into was easily solved with money. Dallas seemed to have an unlimited amount of money for someone shunned by some members of the town and his own family for being half Cherokee.
Thank you! Caroline Clemmons for gifting me with this Wonderful Book on my Birthday. 😆💕😆 Well written plenty of plot twists to keep you guessing and turning the pages right up until the end. Cenora and Dallas story was very intriguing and a pleasure from start to finish, asking yourself what will happen next keeps you in suspense. I truly enjoyed this book and voluntarily chose to leave a review. A hard won Historical Frontier Happy Ever After. I have already purchased the next three books of this series. A Texan's Irish Bride highly recommend this one I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
Great book. Enjoyed the interaction with Dallas and Cenora. The relationship started off on Dallas rescusing Cenora from harm when she was attacked by two men. Then Dallas was hurt from the encounter, so this left him in need of help. In the event, Dallas and Cenora was caught in a compromise situation which led to their marriage. Many things happened during the course of the book with Cenora and her father giving away the wrong horse, the whole family cannot read except the father, Dallas is part Indian, and of course his grandmother. Looking forward to read Book 2.
This is a great historical romance. Cenora O'Neill is of Irish decent and was run from their home in Ireland home. Through luck and help of her father their family ended up in the states and began moving around with other travelers that were considered gypsy's. After a performance Cenora was kidnapped by a few brutes and later rescued by Dallas McClintock. During his rescue he was greatly injured. The O'Neill family took him back to their traveling camp and began nursing him back to health. Wonderful characters, lots of culture and great story line.
This is an unusual, but exciting and adventurous love story. Caroline Clemmons has once again written a great tale. Dallas is a very handsome and good person and Cenora is a young beautiful Traveler, Gypsie. Dallas saves her from two men that were attempting to assault her and gets shot in the back. Her brothers find her and save Dallas. Her family says Dallas has compromised her reputation and forces them to marry. You will enjoy discovering how they find their happily ever after.
Love and happiness are not always an easy to find.
Fantastic story and characters. A gypsy girl forced to marry a man she doesn't know to protect her family. She feels she isn't good enough for him and spends her time fearing he will tell her to leave, but he's an honorable man and will honor his vows. Supporting characters are also good and contributed a lot to story. Recommend to all western genre readers.
This tale is very different from the run of the mill. It is fast paced with action continuously going on. The Irish element brings in a different slant and i found the bits of Irish lore to be so interesting. The superstitions were really funny to see. I enjoyed it so much because it was totally different than most Westerns . I highly recommend this read as entertaining for all.
This was a decent story for a free kindle download.
Believe it or not, I think the H&H (out of all the characters) lacked the most depth. Not until the very end did their relationship become focused on more than the physical.
The story also lacked humor, which is something I've found I need in order to grow attached to the characters
I would actually give this 3 1/2 stars if I could because it really kept my interest from page one. This author really connects with her reader , she will make you laugh and you will find yourself feeling as if you know each character in the book. I only wish the couple could have had more one on one time to grow instead of so much focus on her family.
I enjoyed this book, finished in day. A twist on a compromised woman forced to marry a stranger. An extended family comes with this marriage. Dallas' patience was extraordinary. The worry of the families was understandable, but after being mentioned 4-5 times was tiring. Overall I thoroughly enjoyed this story.
A different twist on a Texas rancher and an Irish woman. This woman's family are Travellers or some call them tinkers. Tinkers fix pots and pans, sharpened knives and sold handmade items.
This was a great read; with Texans pride and Irish pride combining, and two people thrust together learn to love and live. You knew what was gonna happen but the way it was wrote made it interesting. Let’s you know you can overcome just about anything
Cinora and Dallas have one complicated relationship from start to finish there is one thing after another threatening to end their marriage. What an exciting story with great storytelling!
