Solar System SOS

by Arlen Cohn, Don Sullivan (Illustrator)

Something has gone haywire in the Solar System causing "elbows to itch and antennae to twitch" from Venus to Uranus. Have no fear, the problem is corrected and the "Council on Solar Afflictions" makes one more decree as expected. From one side of the system around to the other, we are all better off if we help one another. Eyeball Animation gets a whole new look with this outer space thriller. As always, a fun-filled glossary follows the story, making Solar System SOS another eye-ducational sensation! U.S. Patent No. 5,941,570; 6.149,201

Humorous, rhyming story of a solar system crisis solved through cooperation.

The story is silly, but the final two pages of the book give factual information about the planets of our solar system (this edition includes Pluto as a planet).

interesting quote:

"From one side of the System around to the other, we are all better off if we help one another. " (p. 27 - unpaged)

This is a really fun book. Yes part of that fun is the giant wobbly eyes that pop through the book and make a reader dizzy. But the story is also quite nice. Something has happened to the sun, so Earth calls to other planets to see if they too are experiencing problems, and how can they solve them. The entire book is told in rhyme, and while it is a little long it works quite well. Plus at the end is some information about each of the planets.

Obsessed! Did a fun out loud reading on Christmas with fun voices. One of my favorites from Childhood.
