This is a historical novel. In the late Eastern Han Dynasty, Cao Cao moved Emperor Xian to Xudu where he ""had a firm hold over the emperor to oppress the princes"" and gradually took control of military and political power. The story happened under such a background. A group of people who were loyal to the Han court took Emperor Xian's younger brother Yang Ping to the court and then started a struggle with Cao Cao's subordinates. With instructions of Yang Xiu, Yang Ping soon adapted to the court struggle and found his own place, trying to protect the Han power among the struggle.

Ma Boyong (born 14 November, 1980) is a Chinese novelist, columnist and blogger. In the year of 2010, he won People's Literature Prize, one of China's most prestigious honors.

His short story The City of Silence was translated into English by science fiction writer Ken Liu.

Interesting but quite poignant.

The quote shown below should perfectly present the real situations in this chaotic and agonizing era:

สนุกมาก ตอนแรกไม่ได้คาดหวังเลยเพราะเราไม่เคยอ่านสามก๊กมาก่อน ไปหาอ่านสรุปสามก๊กมาแล้วเริ่มอ่านเล่มนี้ช่วงแรก ๆ ก็ยังตั้งคำถามกับตัวเองอยู่ว่าชั้นจะไปรอดกับเล่มนี้จริง ๆ ใช่มั้ย แต่อ่านไปอ่านมามันรอดและสนุกมากกกกกกก เข้าช่วงกลางเล่มแล้ววางไม่ลงเลย เฉือนเหลี่ยมกันทุกเม็ด ชิงไหวชิงพริบกันทุกวิถีทาง ทุกคนฉลาดกันมากแบบ อึ้ง แผนซ้อนแผนซ้อนแผนเป็นล้านชั้น ตัวละครเยอะมากจนต้องจด คนนั้นยศนี้ อันนี้นามรองของใคร แต่พอเริ่มจับทางได้ก็สนุกเลยแหละ ไม่ผิดหวังเลยที่หยิบมาอ่าน ใด ๆ คือชอบฉากเลิฟซีนสั้น ๆ ตรงนั้นมาก เพราะปกติของวรรณคดีไทยเราจะเปรียบเป็นแมลงกับดอกไม้ คลื่นกับเรือ อะไรแบบนี้ใช่มะ แต่ของจีนเปรียบเป็นพู่กันกับกระดาษ ความรู้ใหม่เลย!

Ui dồi ôi đỉnh. Tôi ko thích Tam quốc mà chỉ biết Tào Tháo, Đổng Trác, Lữ Bố, Điêu Thuyền thôi, nhưng đọc quyển này quá là cuốn, binh lược, mưu kế, nhân tài, đủ thứ quay vòng vòng quá là hay.
