It is clear that humans have never quite got to grips with the whole business of being a person. Even after thousands of years of evolution we are still so addicted to politics and violence that we'd rather feel self-important than be reasonable and real. It is also clear that our religions, ideologies and ethics aren't helping us here. What is needed is a complete re-think of the human way of being persons. BEING REAL (Revised Edition) is a serious attempt to do just that.that by building on the insights of Martin Heidegger in Being and Time (1961).
