Something strange is happening at Capernicious Academy. Calling the school and research center by the name 'The Academy' doesn't change or stop the evil that's going on inside an evil that matches the medieval exterior.
Health problems hit, but now with book #100 out, I am looking forward to my retirement. I am not only an avid writer, but an avid reader. I am constantly with a book, whether writing my own or reading someone else's, I am always looking for a new journey and believe that with books and a vivid imagination, anything is possible. I love and thank the readers who bring the stories to life. Thanks for what you add to the books. Your imaginations, added to my own, complete the stories. This journey has been amazing. Thanks, family, friends, and amazing readers
When the novel started, I couldn’t really relate to the main character as my life at that age was so different. It is the author’s skill that turned the young lady into a likeable character. You’ll follow her as she matures and finds the love of her life. The world is supposed to be wonderful and his new job fulfilling, yet she fears the place where he works and the Professor who has hired him to work at the Academy. Then his fellow workers start dying. Even the wife of one is caught in the evil web. Will she and her husband escape? You’ll have read the fast paced book and ending to find out.
CAPERNICIOUS THE CREEP FACTOR IN CAPERNICIOUS IS THROUGH THE ROOF. I THOROUGHLY ENJOYED THE SUSPENSE AND LOVED THE CHARACTERS. EXCEPT for JAMES OF COURSE AND IF YOU READ THE BOOK YOU’LL KNOW WHY. I RECOMMEND CAPERNICIOUS FOR ANYONE WHO LOVES A DARK MYSTERY. 5 STARS FOR THIS ONE.
Having thrust aside boring high school attendance for the thrill of becoming party girls, Sue and Cheryl run away from home and embark on risky lifestyle pursuits – hitchhiking, getting drunk, shoplifting. Then they get caught. Several years later, the two are still best friends, but have chosen more rewarding lifestyles; employment for Sue and college for Cheryl. Plus Sue meets and marries mechanic Quinn Hanson. Professor James Bradford offers Quinn a job as an apprentice at Capernicious Academy. Life simply couldn’t be better for Sue. Quinn loves his new job, they both love the added income, and what could be more rewarding than researching vitamins and supplements which will improve health? In fact, Quinn enrolls himself in the research and sees nearly immediate positive results in his physique and intelligence. Sue finds the huge Capernicious Academy building with towers at each corner “creepy.” When she learns the history behind the building, she realizes why. The original building belonged to Lord Walter Capernum, a physician, grave robber, and murderer. Forced to flee England to escape the gallows, he arrived in America in 1890, and built a castle where he could continue his “experiments.” Playing god, Capernum attempted to build perfect humans using body parts from kidnapped victims. After Capernum died, the new owners of the castle found remains of more than 100 victims stacked in one of the tower rooms. While the academy’s history is grim, deranged and creepy, neither Sue nor Quinn expect it to impact them. After all, history lives only in the past – right? Sure, there are rumors of a few missing people and even murder – but the academy has never been criminally charged in any of the events. And a building can’t be “evil,” can it? Sue and Cheryl’s friendship send them on a new journey together where terror and danger is more frightening than any nightmare.
In the community of Grand Falls, Montana in this wonderful story, there exists the Capernicious Academy. One of the professors there, James, which is what he demands people call him. Has hired Quinn to come and work for him at the Academy. When Quinn and his bride to be, Sue, arrive there the building puts Sue off but the pay is good, there is a log cabin that is part of the pay and Quinn is working with two great young guys named Seth and Cade. More, Seth is married and Sue and Seth's wife, Michelle, become close friends. The final really great part of the situation for Sue is that a childhood friend, Cheryl, lives and works in the same town. In the run of time Sue discovers that the building which she thought looked evil when she and Quinn first arrived there, Quinn, as had Seth and Cade before him, decides to take part in experimental "supplement" injections and doses after starting to work in James' lab. Then Cade dies. The reason for his death is said to be an aneurysm. Quinn is doubtful. Sue is more doubtful. She begins to see changes in Quinn and Seth, changes that are not positive. I cannot tell you more because to do so is to spoil the explosive ending of the book. This is a very well written book. It is also attractively presented in kindle. The proof reading and editing has been done exceptionally well. The story is a page turner. It gets your attention slowly and then begins to demand that you continue reading. As a result it is a fast read that is very, very entertaining. I have read books by P.S. Winn before and enjoyed them immensely. This book is no exception. I really liked the story and was drawn to read it quickly. It easily merits my five star review. Very well done, and thanks to the author for the opportunity to read and review.

As always with a P S Winn book the characters are well developed. The story is a fascinating one and will keep your attention to the end. You will identify with the two trying to unravel the clues giving the real experiments going on and those responsible and will, like me, not feel the slightest sympathy for the few getting their just deserts.

I've read several P.S. Winn books, and this is probably the best so far. It starts out with two young girls who take a walk on the wild side until they get caught. They reform and remain friends years later. Sue's husband, Quinn, is offered a job at Capernicious, and they relocate there. The college/research center has a history filled with murderous secrets. As with all P.S. Winn books, the characters are so well-developed that they seem like people we know, family and friends. Can they come to terms with what appears to be a haunted building?
Sue has gone to Capernicious Academy with her new husband, but she doesn't like the look or feel of the place. When the killings start and the weird experiments Sue will need her friend Cheryl's help to find out what is really going in in the hallowed halls of higher learning. Great Suspense thriller.
