When Candice "Candy" Hardaway, the daughter of deceased New York drug kingpin Eric "Easy" Hardaway, set out to get revenge on the people who killed her entire family, she positioned herself knee deep in the game. While getting close to her father's alleged enemies, Candy uncovered some long-buried secrets that were never meant for her to find out. These secrets also destroyed the only family member she had left—her uncle Rock.
With Uncle Rock dead, Candy is back to find out more about her father's buried past; but this time Candy quickly goes from being the hunter to the hunted, and more than one bounty is put on her head.
This dramatic sequel will uncover more secrets, lies, murders, and deception. Who will fulfill their need for revenge first—the people who really destroyed her family, or the hustlers that Candy wrongfully targeted?
Will Candy be able to use her skills as a "cleaner" this time to stay alive, or will someone have to ultimately save her from her enemies?
Amaleka McCall’s “Hard Candy 2” revisits the life of Candy Hardaway. She is still on a mission to find the person(s) responsible for killing her family. With the end of “Hard Candy,” some shocking truths were revealed. As her hunt continues, more shocking truths come to light.
I didn’t love or hate “Hard Candy 2.” It just won’t go down as one of my favorites from Amaleka. I love that Amaleka is willing to think outside the box and won’t allow herself to be typecast as a particular kind of author. This sequel was no exception to that mindset. However, its execution wasn’t great. It was an easy read yet it was slow and dragged at times. Some scenes were unbelievable and a lot of information was thrown at readers, maybe too much. I was also disappointed to find much of the story was the past instead of the here and now. I would have preferred a more forward-moving story.
Not a good read, not a bad read, “Hard Candy 2” which answered questions raised in book one, bringing the two books to a close, was an okay read.
Hard Candy was a good book. Just imagine coming home and finding your whole family dead. What would you do? There was only one person that she could trust after that and he taught her the ropes on how to become the best cleaner around. Candy main goal in life was to get whoever ruined her family. I really enjoyed it for the 2nd time. I started reading it and was like dang. I read this before. But since it was so good I was like, let me go ahead and finish it. Plus I saw there was a Hard Candy 2 so the refresher was a great idea. It had been a while since I read book 1. In the last couple of weeks I have completed both book 1 and 2. I like book 1 the best. Both books will keep your attention. Once you start you will not want to finish. You will find out why they call Candy – Hard Candy.
At one point in the book I though I was reading an excerpt from Big Momma's House. I don't know how Hard Candy 1 ended, but this one was senseless and accomplished nothing. There were too many people writing down their experiences and participation in criminal activities. There were too many informants and I couldn't figure out who was who. Quick read. Pointless.
This was a decent follow up to the first one, but it definitely did not end in any way that I could have predicted, or would have even wanted it to. It was a fun rollercoaster of "who's" the bad guy though.
I did not care for this series, but had to finish it. Voodoo many moving pieces, way to messy of a read for me. And so much was left unanswered. So yeah I didn't call care for it at all.
HARD CANDY 2 starts where it left off with Candy still seeking revenge against the people who killed her family. She is in for the ride of her life, and going against the top is harder than it seems..With the training she has from Uncle Rock, she quickly puts it to work and start to off each of them piece by piece but everything isn't what it seems, so now who can she trust? 4 stars because I wish the ending was stronger!!!
These book was not a good follow-up, it was full of flash backs. It picks up with Candy on the run, Junior confused after finding out about Rock being his father, and Tucker is still in trouble with his job and has angered a few people. Revenge consumed everyone in this book and it didn't turn out well for any of them. The ending seem very rushed. If you read the first one I recommend reading it just to find out how it ends, but it's definitely not a must read.
OMG will there be another hard candy. who makes if through,I'm pissed that I don't know what happen to either of them, but forgiveness is a hard pill to swallow when revenge consumes your inner being, I'm impressed these book ranks with the best in suspense for me.
it wasn't as good as the first one it was pretty much predictable because candy and tuck killed each other and she loved him too much and vise versa. the government had it out for the both of them for a long time.
This book was okay. I am kinda upset about the ending. I was dying for revenge. I hate the long strolls down memory lane, and I only kept reading so I can see if Candy got the revenge.

much like with book 1, I waffled between wanting to know what happened next and wanting it to be over. It was missing something but I'm not sure what. The plot has so much potential for ruthlessness, drama and action. But, it seemed like they were all watered down. That being said I'm glad it ended after book 2
