A great book with awesome recipes. I will definitely be cooking many of the recipes as I take this journey of eating a plant-based diet. Reading this book re-enforces the reasons I would like to change my eating habits. I would definitely recommend this book.

This book was okay I guess, but the clue is in the name. It’s heavily biased towards total beginners, and I’m at the point where I’ve been vegan for five years or so and I have all of the basic recipes covered.
And so while there are some great recipes in this collection, I think they’ll mostly be of interest to people who are new to cooking and who are looking to find good vegan versions of the basics. The only one that I kept for my overall master list was a tasty summer salad, and even then, I ended up tweaking the ingredients to switch the red wine vinegar with balsamic vinegar.
There’s also a ton of stuff on the reasons why people go vegan in the first place, which seemed kind of redundant given that the author was preaching to the converted. Again, I suppose it makes more sense if you approach this as a first-time vegan, but I was still hoping for a few gems that I might have missed.
All in all, I guess this is okay, but it does leave a lot to be desired. And I think that beginners in particular would appreciate some photos, and a cookbook without any images of what you’re trying to make seems kind of weird to me. But there are some decent enough recipes.
I entered to win a Vegan gift basket at the Old West End Festival in Toledo and won it! This book came with it. I have been a a vegetarian for 8 and 1/2 years and strive to eat Vegan. I can't give up eggs. But that doesn't stop me or my wife from going on long Vegan binges.
This really is a nice little starter cookbook. Most of the info before the recipes is short and to the point. You can find a lot more in other sources of you look. Recipes seem easy with not a lot of ingredients. I have made the Raw Buckwheat Porridge and it came out great. I will pull more recipes out of here.
I'm a big advocate of a primarily plant based diet and this book had several recipes I highlighted that I would like to try at some point. I especially liked that they emphasized not just replacing meat with meat like products aka processed soy if you are want to eat to less or no meat. I feel like that's important.
