When an intoxicated man dancing in a Hispanic gay bar on the eve of war with Iraq flashes an innocent peace sign, he is knocked to the floor by an enraged Latina.Later, their paths cross again, and a war of words fueled by grief and alcohol is ignited, but the battle leads to an unexpected recognition of common ground. Once reviled, a weekend warrior is entrusted with the final, haunting message of a fallen soldier, the Latina’s youngest brother.
I write literary fiction that presents human beings in extraordinarily challenging crises or situations that call upon more strength and courage than my protagonists think they have. These are intensely dramatic and often suspenseful stories that also offer humor, romance (both hetero and gay) , a supernatural or mystical element, and what may best be described as spiritual or philosophical food for thought. If there is anything distinct about my books it is that they unabashedly feature gay protagonists and characters as well as heterosexuals. Hopefully that will not get me banished to the GLBTQ+ bin because the only letter that truly informs these books is "H". These are Human books readily relatable to any adult human. The only exception is my non-fiction title "Why Gay Isn't Gay But is Still Great", a title targeted to a gay male audience (although it may be of interest to others). I hope you enjoy any and all of my books as much as I loved writing them! SK
