Dee McCoy is a witch with the Dark Angels who has been trying to steer clear of the most recent recruit, Jake Piper, a Family Prime who was adopted from a Tribe...which makes him less trustworthy. They get thrown together on a sidebar mission to locate something happening with magic...but they have no idea what, so they have to sniff it out. They figure out that someone is playing around with magic to connect the parallel universes in order to bring people back from the dead. Jake and Dee make a pretty good team, but the attraction is hard to overcome and before they know it they're bonding.

This reminded me a bit of one of the earlier stories in the series, maybe the third one, mostly because both characters are really resistant to the bonding. In fact, it really kinda feels like the bonding is forcing them together and taking away their choice. Jake sees all of it as a weakness and has other misogynistic reasons for his denial, while Dee around the 67% mark, right before their little "shotgun wedding" that "She didn't completely trust him. She didn't completely like him. But his welfare was the most important thing in the world to her." This does not sound like a woman falling in love, but someone who is forced to need another person without actually liking him. So it was tough to buy into their romance being anything but artificial (hormone-driven). Now this wasn't anywhere near as frustrating as some of the other stories with smug, arrogant, know-it-all Primes throwing their weight around like it's a God-given right. I was skeptical of Jake at first, but he turned out to be a decent and likeable hero...at least behavior wise.

Underneath that charming exterior beats the heart of a Prime who apparently still feels the brutal and violent Tribe Prime way of life were"the good old days" and that females are inferior, meant only to be slaves. And Dee, despite knowing and hearing a lot of these arguments and him wondering and being confused whether that stuff is actually correct, still sympathizes with him. The more I ponder that the more strange that sounds...I mean, imagine a potential boyfriend standing there arguing that women should be slaves, not wives, meant to be beaten into submission ...do you want to jump his bones? No. It's not attractive at all, and definitely not a personality type you, as a woman, hitch your wagon to. She stands up to him, but is still very sympathetic to his dilemma. Like it's normal to be confused about that. It has me wondering if this author doesn't have a misogynistic streak herself...(especially given the last book). Now that's not to say that Jake wasn't a good hero and that I didn't enjoy reading about him. As a whole, I liked Jake and thought he and Dee were a great couple. I'm just surprised she didn't find his attitude more off-putting.

The story itself was entertaining, with a new addition to the paranormal universe with the addition of different types of "witch magic." I kinda liked where it was going. The suspense story with Leviathan and all is important and interesting, but it kinda takes a back seat to the romance. I was hoping for a little bit more detail and explanation about all this Brane Universes stuff and how that makes time travel possible and most especially what happened to Daniel. And it was a bit disconcerting how nobody seemed the least bit concerned about Daniel who had a personality change over night and then vanished into thin air. Not a shred of concern. From anyone. Wow.

I was unable to finish this, which really makes me mad because I bought it. Why are the Primes books only available in ebook now? So I gave it the ole college try and by 80% I just skipped to the last chapter. I am REALLY disappointed. I am not sure what happened to this book but it lacked editting as far as I could tell. It also didn't seem to have any kind of flow. One minute Jake and Dee are enemies and the next they are sleeping together. But even in that it was odd, during their first coupling Jake screams at Dee. Later they are fighting the bonding while one of the family Matriarchs marries them. Just like that in the middle of a party. THE HELL? The story was just really disjointed and the interchanging of first and last names and addition of old characters and new just added to the mayhem. I still have no idea what I read. =(

Blurb: Vampire Prime Jake Piper and mortal witch Dee McCoy are the least likely members of the Dark Angels paranormal commandos to be ordered to work as partners. She doesn't trust that Jake has truly renounced his former evil ways. He resents dealing with a mortal female as an equal no matter how attracted he is to her.

Despite their personal conflicts they've been ordered to work together to save the world from dark magic. But will a growing sexual and psychic need for each other prevent them from carrying out their assignment in time? Will the price of bonding and bliss be the destruction of the universe?

When former Tribe boy Yakov - now Jake of the Piper Clan - is paired with mortal witch Dee on a mission for the Dark Angels, Jake and Dee can no longer ignore each other or the attraction they've been hiding beneath their mutual animosity. But when a spell jumps that attraction to the next level, Jake is going have to rise above all of the mental baggage from his tribe days to save 'his' witch and to save the world.

Oh, those sexy Primes. I have to admit that I have a special liking for Sizemore's bad-boy-no-more former tribe boys, and I really liked Jake who is so confused by how he feels versus his tribe conditioning about: women, mating with humans and bonding. It's lucky that the oh so practical - and oh so high handed - Matri's are around to solve Jake's problem. As much as I liked the teammates succumbing to their hidden desires, Primal Cravings was also a very good action packed, save the world adventure, and also a great slice of the series with some fun cameos (my favorite former bad boy Laurent appears along with his mate and their little spoiled princess).

So I was really happy to have found this great novella length Primes story - which is a real treat for fans and has enough background that I am pretty sure that new readers will be able to get a feel for the series - and it has me hoping for more of fallen angel Jerame and for more of the Dark Angels.

Wow, I must have forgotten this series because I remember really liking it! All I can say is the last 20 pages of this book was great, reading the first 107 pages of this book felt like the equivalent of watching paint dry. It was so boring and slow. The main characters were uninteresting at best. The heroine was a little more interesting than the Hero in this story but she wasn't exciting enough to make the story interesting to read and I don't remember either one of their names. The best part of this book was the sub-characters Laurent and his mate and his daughter, who weren't in it that much. They bring some life to it but the Hero was so stiff and uptight. That together with the couples lack of chemistry and almost laughable so called wedding made this a bust for me. I rate based on if I will read again, I won't!

Great book, reading a story from the point of view of a reformed Tribe vampire was something different than the knightly arrogance of Clan or Family vampires. Seeing his emotions teeter totter was quite amusing at times.
Oh, Laurent was in this story and the family connections that were uncovered was so neat and added a bit more of the befuddlement to that silly ex-Tribe vampire, lol. There is more to say, but I can't think of it so when I read the book again hopefully I'll add to this review.
For right now I think Jake has been added to my list of favorite males in this series. :)

I really enjoyed this book. I love the Prime Series. There was a perfect amount of action and lots of passion. I wish this book wouldnt end. I couldnt put it down. Jake and Dee are perfect together. I liked how Susan added the magic twist to the series. Susan writes amazing lead characters and unforgettable secondary characters. I was so happy to get to read about Eden, Laurent and their daughter again. Shes oh so adorable. I cant wait for the next one.

I love this series. I can't get enough. Of course, these two have sexual tention more on Jake's side. Dee starts to feel for him after a sex spell she consumes from a human female to save the girl's life. The feelings for Jake grow stronger,of course sex happens but neither one acts on it till they are faced with bonding from family Piper. I hope there will be more to the series, because like I said before. I can't get enough of the series.

I've loved every book in this series and this is no different. I loved the sexual tension between Dee and Jake. I found their mutual animosity to be amusing. They tried so hard to ignore each other and their feelings. When Dee somehow sucks up a sex spell, the sex goes viral (so to speak) and the sparks really fly. I plowed through this book and hope Ms. Sizemore writes more Prime stories.

This was good. I enjoyed the characters and the plot was better developed then the last one. Of course this was twice as long as the last one. I like the world she's created for these vampires..

Witches and Vampires Unite

The story has danger, suspense, magic, and romance. Who can ask for more. The story continues the Primes Series. I look forward to the next installment.
