A very sweet story of two people who took forever to figure out how to communicate. I liked the couple and wanted to see how they worked everything out, though I was frustrated before it was over. It’s a very real issue, but one that’s hard to deal with as a reader because it’s so frustrating knowing both sides of the story from the outside. Wanted to smack me some heads—just talk to each other already! The narrative was also a bit awkward at first in places, but I liked it overall. Great chemistry and teasing between the MCs.

This was a sweet story...Sam needed a job, Jake needed a cook...she was hired sight unseen, and thinking she was a man! But they fall into a pleasant routine and have a growing attraction.....things get complicated and misunderstood, and they almost lose each other for good....this book will teach you that communication is key...and faith is a wonderful thing!
Wonderful little christian romance...I very much enjoyed it!
I received a free copy of this book on audible via Audiobook Blast in exchange for an unbiased review. Although the story had potential, I couldn't really relate to Sam and Jake, I felt as if I never really got to know them. The story seemed a little bit disjointed and rushed and I didn't feel any chemistry between them. Then enters Tex into the mix and it all seems surreal and unbelievable. The narrator didn't appeal to me and I couldn't feel the love.
I totally loved this audio that foreman is something else indeed. I laughed at times very hard, smiled a lot and was sad a few times. I really think the audio would be better the reading it, the narrator really brings the story to life.
Ms. Peterson narration was outstanding as she bought the characters to life for me. Her tones were right on the money. She really put a lot into this audio giving you a delightful listen. Her female and her male voices were outstanding. You could really hear every emotion each character was going through. The foreman was a delight I totally loved his voice and the tones she gave him. He really had me laughing throughout. There was nothing I didn’t like about this narrator, she gives power to her character voices never leaving you guessing to what the other is feeling. Her natural voice is pleasant I could have listen to her voice all day. There is no background noises or any place where the volume changes. If any breaks were taken I could not tell. I didn’t hear any repeats of wording or any place where the tones were off. It was a delightful listen that I had trouble putting down.
The author gives a wonderful clean Christian read at time humorous with misunderstanding, lack of communication which really makes a mess of things and is so funny at times along with heartbreaking at others. A little drama and a lot of getting to know you with a powerful love story. There are a few surprises throughout, as well as confusing for some of the characters. It is a powerful story of one’s belief in God and faith. Of losing it all and starting over again. This was wonderfully written giving the reader something to think about and relate to. I really liked the characters and watching their two step forward and one step back dance. The one thing that broke my heart was her losing her horse and the man who took it. You will really love how this plays out. The ending was wonderful making me smile.

Another great listen by Susette Williams. This story was so heartwarming to listen to. Sam arrives at the Dampier ranch expecting to be the cook for the ranchhands. She finds out she is going to be the cook/maintainer of the home for Jake, the owner of the ranch. Sparks between the two are flying as others are vying for the attention of Sam. Jonathan, Sam's best friend comes to work on the ranch when one of the hands breaks his hip. To say the least, a bunch of misunderstandings occur to sabotage Jake and Sam. Can their faith in God brings them back together? They do learn about communication and how important it is.
Nancy Peterson has a wonderful voice. Her performance is warm and emotional. I love that her variations between men and women voices is apparent and easily determines who is speaking when. Susette Williams picks her narrators well and gives us beautiful stories.
I was given this audio book free in exchange for an honest opinion. This story by Susette Williams is a sweet Christian romance. It is the story of Samantha and Jake. Samantha has just lost her parents and her family ranch. She's in need of a job and is hired on as a cook at Jake's ranch. There are several wrong impressions concerning the job. Jake and his worker who hired "Sam" believe she's a man. Sam thinks the position is cooking for all of the workers on the ranch, but she is actually just cooking for Jake. Samantha and Jake become friends, and then a little more than friendly feeling develop. There are stumbling blocks in their way and misunderstandings. Will they be able to maneuver their way into understanding, forgiveness and maybe even the kind of love that lasts forever? Good story and good narration by Nancy Peterson. Very nice to listen to. I think I listened to a newer edition of audio book than this one--just a note.
I wouldn't stay I LOVE'd it but I really enjoyed this book.
Sam get hired on, only when she arrives she isn't was was expect. She is female. That right there made me chuckle. The love interest grows in this story. I did feel like maybe her past should have been featured more I mean she went through this devastating loss and it was almost skimmed over.
Jake him self is going through his own hardships, and he sure as heck wasn't expecting Sam to come into his life and make him pant.
This book for me was all about miss communication and realizing that if you just talk to one another life will be so very much easier. Yes faith place a pretty big roll in this book as well and even thought I usually stay away for things like this because my faith is personal to me. I enjoyed how it was in this book.

Something about Sam by Susette Williams is a story about Samantha Marlow and how she gets a job working for Jake Dampier. Jake is looking for a cook and housekeeper so he can concentrate on managing his ranch. From the moment they meet, you can tell there will be much more to their story than a boss/employee relationship. This book is listed as an inspirational romance. There is a lot of religious moments in this story, so if you enjoy that, this book won't disappoint you. My only complaint is not knowing what happens to a couple of the characters in end. I felt like I would have liked to know more. Other than that, the main characters had a good storyline and it moved along nicely. Nancy Peterson is a terrific narrator. She captured each character in a very heartfelt way. I hope to listen to more books read by her in the future. This was quite different from Susette Williams' others books perhaps because it was in a more modern setting but definitely because it was infused with more Christian religious practices. So if this is what you enjoy, then this is the book for you. Besides that, it is a sweet story about two people who eventually learn that good communication will help solve their problems with each other, whether these problems are real or imagined. And of course they fall in love, but you are going to have to read the book for yourself because I'm not telling you anything else. Nancy Peterson does a very good job of the narration. The story was a short quick Christian read. I always like when the a Point of View is from the Male and Female lead. I did get a bit annoyed when Jake tried to force her to choose between him and her best friend, Jonathon. There were a couple of misunderstanding but they were able to work them out. The narrator did a good job, I liked when she did the voice for Zeb.

Jake and Samantha's story is totally amazing. You will love the way Jake is put into a position where he feels he has to hire Sam. You can feel God in this amazing book. The characters in this book are all totally very special people. This book is hard to put down.
When two people don't know how to communicate, this is the story you get. Takes a long while to learn the art of listening, and asking the right questions.
Set on a ranch that sounds beautiful, this story inspires communication, if nothing else!
Susette Williams writes such wonderful books and this is no exception. Reading about modern day cowgirls helped me see a whole different life from mine. And isn't this what good fiction is all about? Highly recommend. Loved it.
