A complete, easy-to-use, fun, travel guide to exploring St. John, Virgin Islands. It tells you exactly where to go, how to get there, and what to do and see when you arrive. It contains everything you need to know about the St. John's beaches and hiking trails, as well as its confusing system, of roads, foot-paths and goat-trails. Recommended by Caribbean Travel and Life and by many St. Johnians since locals are NOT on vacation and cant always take time off from work to be a tour guide for their guests.Best Selling St John Guidebook since 1994. I have never read a travel guide from cover to cover before but this one sucked me in with its zany details and anecdotes. Despite being quite dated at this point, it still proved invaluable when driving around the island with no cell service. Definitely worth getting when traveling to St. John.
I absolutely loved his book. Pam is great at detailing where to visit and why locations on the island are best for different travelers. She makes what would normally be pretty mundane reading funny and I laughed out loud more than once. I can't wait to apply the information in her book to my upcoming trip to St John, I feel like an insider already!
While the author mentions the coral die off in the addendum, she is a bit over enthusiastic about the quality of the snorkeling, which we found either bad or modest.
I read this book before my husband and I went on our honeymoon. It really helped us plan our days and was very detailed. It was great to have a local's prespective.
