Jess is on the hunt for two men wanted for murder when he runs into a crooked sheriff in a little Texas town. Jess finds himself locked up in jail and all of his weapons confiscated by Sheriff Hatfield, including his very unique pistol and holster. To make matters even worse, Sheriff Hatfield plans on having Jess swinging from a hangman's noose soon.
Moments before Jess is supposed to hang, he is rescued by United States Marshal Frank Reedy who has other plans for Jess and his unique set of killing skills.
After Jess finishes with his revenge on Sheriff Hatfield and his two deputies, Marshal Reedy informs Jess that their good friend, John Bodine, is locked up in a little Mexican jail and being guarded by General Zoreles and his army of men.
Jess finds out that he has to go into Mexico all by himself to break John Bodine out of the jail before General Zoreles has him executed by a Mexican firing squad.
The battle that ensues at the Rio Grande River turns into a hellish bloodbath, with Jess taking on General Zoreles and his army as he brings another unique gun to the battle.

In 1990 Robert J. Thomas was sworn in as the full time mayor for the city of Westland, Michigan. He served twelve years, making him the longest serving mayor in Westland's history.
While he was mayor he wrote his first book titled, How to Run for Local Office, which has now sold over 25,000 copies worldwide.
He has written and published on Kindle, the Jess Williams Westerns series. Retired, he now lives in Mississippi with his wfe Jill.
John Bodine is imprisoned down in Mexico and U.S.Marshal Frank Reedy has just arrived in the nick of time to save Jess Williams from hanging. It's just a hot mess all the way around. Jess wakes up in prison in a little town in Texas by the name of Hollis. Sheriff Hatfield, a crooked lawman who has made it his life long duty to hang whomever he wants without a legal trail has done it to the wrong man, he's taken all of Jess's weapons including his special pistol, oh yeah, also the three thousand dollars Jess was carrying. Jess told the Marshal and his two deputies that he will pay them PAY for their mistreatment heaped on him. They wouldn't give him any nourishment, which included water...sometimes it's best to leave well enough alone..Some people just never learn or just to stupid to acknowledge when your about to meet your MAKER. U.S. Marshal Frank Reedy accompanied by four U.S.Deputy Marshals who were hunting for Jess and they got their in time, because Jess was just a few seconds from having the noose placed around his neck....shakey shakey and Sheriff Hatfield is either to arrogant or dumb to listen to U.S. Marshal Reedy orders to release Jess. This is another fast moving no nonsense, but some comedy especially between Jess, U.S. Marshal Reedy and John Bodine after Jess rescues him from a Mexican jail. Just goes to show you life in the Old West wasn't a bag of jelly beans or a nice hot cup of Arbuckle Coffee..🍵
He's has been written up.as the most famous gunslinger amongst them all with speed ,accuracy and an unmatched sense of situational.awareness amongst all gunslingers but in one gunfight he apparently lost it all.and let.someone hit him in the back of the head and knocked him out. What he get had for.A reputation is lost because one does not lose situational.awareness in the game of life and death If you all believe that then the earth is flat . No knows just how stupid he will.become . I for.one have lost faith in Jes the bounty hunter
This is the fifth or sixth book about Jess that I have read. The first few were good, but then they began to be cookie-cutter books. Jess vs two or three men at a time in each book. I recommend trying a few because they were good. When, or if, you feel they are getting too similar, you can always give them a rest.
As usual trouble finds Jess wherever he goes. I really liked the strategy of how Jess takes on the Mexican army. He certainly had his hands full. This is just another great and well written book in the series by Thomas. Well done. I would recommend this series to anybody that enjoys western novels.
This series is filled with adventure, intrigue and violence in a real western way. Always good reading from this author. His books keep the reader engaged
The River Runs Red : (A Jessica Williams Western Book 7)
Not my usual genre I have to admit, this was a REALLY GREAT READ. Jess Williams is a bounty hunter. A really successful one, due to the fact he is very fast on the draw and carries many guns. He is however an extremely honest and fair man, so he is supported by most lawmen. Then again like every occupation there are always a few bad guys in the bunch. This is a long series...so if you enjoy western , you will be in for a treat. I RECOMMEND
It was a vert exciting book to read,it kept me on the edge of my of my seat again. Liked it very much since I am a womam r edge
An who loves to shoot now ,the with all the muslims coming to our country, I say arm yourselves and know how to shoot, it gives you a safer feeling, only if you know how to use your arm. Do it.
I like the main character and enjoy reading about all of his adventures and gun slinging. There is a lot of action in this series and occasionally some good humor. The length is a bit short for me, but it's still a fun read.
Another great story by Robert J. Thomas. Jesus Williams methods are crude but, effective. I dare say they are just across the border of legality. Nonetheless the less, exciting. Can't wait to get started on the next story. So, "Giddy Up," cowboy fans.
Great 20 first chapters. Loved the story of Jess and his posse verse the Mexican army. At that point of the book I wanted to give it five stars. That was until the last six chapters went back to predictable story line and a very weak ending.
There are times that a action packed western is in order.
Readers new to this series really need to start at the beginning. Author makes many assumptions that the reader has read the earlier novels. But, as westerns go, this is a very good series.
I have read the previous novels and this novel is as good as the others. I will read all in this series. They are enjoyable reading and I don't want to put it down until finished.
If you like western, this series of books is for you. There is lots of laugh among friends, and the details is like the reader is right there in the wild west.
