In Death Dance, Jess is on the hunt for two men who killed an innocent woman and her son. His hunt takes him to Wichita where he finds United States Marshal Frank Reedy healing from the wounds he received in an ambush that left his deputy, Chance Hannon, dead.
Jess sets out to hunt the men responsible for the ambush on Frank Reedy, but things get even more complicated when a group of pistol competitors from the state of New York come west to get revenge against Jess for the killing of their friend and pistol champion, Wesley Hommes, who Jess killed in a gunfight.
If that wasn't bad enough, Thomas Stidham offers up ten thousand dollars to start a pot of prize money for the man who can kill Jess in a fair gunfight. Jess ends up in Abilene, Kansas, where hundreds of easterners come to watch what becomes the "Death Dance with Jess Williams," where Jess has to accept challenge after challenge from the group of pistol competitors from New York who want to be the one who beats him on the draw and receive over forty thousand dollars in prize money.

In 1990 Robert J. Thomas was sworn in as the full time mayor for the city of Westland, Michigan. He served twelve years, making him the longest serving mayor in Westland's history.
While he was mayor he wrote his first book titled, How to Run for Local Office, which has now sold over 25,000 copies worldwide.
He has written and published on Kindle, the Jess Williams Westerns series. Retired, he now lives in Mississippi with his wfe Jill.
Very good. Got lots of Jess Williams. But these first books are different from his later books. He was always helping people. He helped them in these, But it was just different. But folks you will enjoy every one JD
The story was unrealistic, completely unbelievable and poorly edited. The story was nothing but killing and drinking whiskey and doing that again and again through out the book. The book would be about 10 pages shorter if the phrases hammer strap, fine whiskey and good whiskey weren’t used over and over and over again.
Jess has buried more than his share of killers. Mostly, he hunts them. But now they line up waiting for a chance to outdraw him. More dime novels come out about him too....
I thoroughly enjoyed reading Death Dance and highly recommend it to anyone who loves reading authentic, page turning Western adventures with great characters
I'm being generous with three stars, probably because I love the Old West and westerns, in general. I've read several other parts of the series but this segment is sorely in need of an editor. Too many punctuation and grammar errors were annoying and distracting.
The plot of this piece was too repetitive and over the top unrealistic. Drink, shoot some guys, ride out of town for a bad guy or two, repeat. Over and over. And, Mr. Thomas, please, please realize that champagne is what you drink, whereas, Champaign is a city in Illinois and you don't drink it!
Jess does his usual job of bounty hunting, but there is also a second plot which places Jess in a quick draw competition. Jess is making more friends, girlfriends, and he is developing a good sense of humor. This book was a lot more detailed than others in the series. Hence, 5*****
The Jess Williams books are such an easy read. Very enjoyable. Are they repetitive and predicable? Yes. Is that a bad thing? No. This book had a slower pace to it that actually fit very well. I look forward to reading book 9 and I highly red omen this series for a fun and easy read.
Well Jess Williams is again challenged by a New York club of gun competitors who will win a great deal of money to out gun Jess Williams. And it's gets better, he's involved in a range war, indirectly And Jess is tired of these EASTERNERS challenges. Well, all you fans of Jess Williams Series..keep your powder dry and your coffee hot...and READ the next installment..ENJOY
