I liked parts of this book because it gave good ideas for interventions for some of my needier students. But some of it was not relevant to me as a teacher and was geared more towards parents, which is great if I ever am a parent of a child with special needs. I will know right where to find help.

I found this book to be full of practical advice for teachers, parents, and specialists. I listened to the book and want to get it in print so I can quickly refer to the suggestions I can use with my students. Some suggestions that stood out: Present rules and procedures in first person narrative form, give students time to transition, understanding sensory modulation in the individual is essential, and create a routine that also includes a daily surprise/change so they learn how to cope with change-use first person narrative to introduce this idea.

Book has good practical strategies though most are for extreme situations; you can still glean some for more minor situations. The most interesting thing is the connection between these disorders. I don't remember her talking about that and she treats them relatively separately in the book; I will have to read more on that.

Very well written, but as a parent to a 4 year old, I didn’t find this particularly helpful. Most of the examples and advice were for kids probably ages 7-8 and up. It would be a great resource for that age group.

Super informative book that covers pretty much everything on the science of nervous system regulation and strategies and tips on how to regulate your self or someone on the spectrum. Lots of great information. Very lengthy but worth the read. This book covers everything

This book had a lot of good information and strategies to use when helping neurodivergent children learn how to be in control of their actions and manage their thoughts! It was a helpful read as a paraprofessional!

The book's content is excellent. In the audio version, the narrator actually reads out lengthy web addresses and step-by-step instructions on how to download images and PDFs. It's excruciating.

I really appreciate Teresa giving references at the end of her work.

This is a Concrete, Practical Book.

How much time will it take? About 4 Hours

I came across this book for specifically understanding -- Goals of Executive Functions. Teresa gives strategies, stories of Children managing. She writes it specifically for Children with special needs.

She also goes into Basic Emotional Regulation. I wish, she had taken, Gloria Wilcox's Emotional Wheel for emotional regulation. Basically, the wheel goes into Core emotions and branches out into feelings.
Also, she failed to mention, meta-emotion for cognitive understanding. Eg: How do you feel, about feeling sad?

She says Concealment, Tolerance, Reappraisal are strategies. Concealment is not recommended, as in the long run, it might lead to health-issues.

Executive Function:

-Create a List
-Schedule
-Reminder
-Create Routine
-Task (How long does it take?)
-Define Success

Overall, A Great Book, I would recommend this to everyone.

This would also help us to understand Children, Learning Behavior, Parenting Techniques.

This book packs a lot of reference information in a small volume. It reads like a microwave manual, which at times feels uneasy when reading about live children. Some techniques sound rather cold and impractical, like withholding food from a picky eater between scheduled meals. Some sound useful, like first-person stories, graphical schedules, and many of the sensory adjustments.
