The Remingtons #5

Read, Write, Love

Rate this book
Bestselling author Kurt Remington lives to write. He spends twelve hours a day in front of his computer, rarely leaving the seclusion of his beach-front property, where he's come to finish his latest thriller--that is, until free-spirited Leanna Bray nearly drowns in the ocean trying to save her dog. Kurt's best-laid plans are shot to hell when he comes to their rescue. Kurt's as irritated as he is intrigued by the sexy, hot mess of a woman who lives life on a whim, forgets everything, and doesn't even know the definition of the word organized.

Leanna's come to the Cape hoping to find a fulfilling career in the jam-making business, and until she figures out her own life, a man is not on the menu. But Leanna can't get the six-two, deliciously muscled and tragically neat Kurt out of her mind. She tells herself she's just stopping by to say thank you, but the steamy afternoon sparks a wild and sexy ride as Kurt and Leanna test the powers of Chemistry 101: Opposites Attract.

Yes, you've heard this before...this is my FAVORITE Melissa Foster book in the Love in Bloom series. Really. This time...I'm in LOVE. Yep. In love with Kurt Remington. Absolutely, madly, in love. Melissa his the nail on the head with this one. Read, Write, Love is the perfect amount of love, angst, and passion.

How can you not be attracted to a sexy-as-hell writer, who writes while sitting half-naked on his back deck. Um, hello? And as for heroines, Leanna is my favorite of the Remington heroines. She's honest, hopeful, and a bit disorganized. Kurt and Leanna are the perfect couple and together they burn up the pages.

I'll say it again, keep these sexy men coming our way, Melissa!

Another for my shelf, "everyone loved but me." I didn't connect with the characters, especially the heroine, therefore I stopped at 33%. Due to my not finishing, I will refrain from rating.

Another winning romance by Melissa!

I loved Read, Write, Love. I loved everything about it!

Kurt and Leanna are so completely opposite of one another that it really does remind me of that saying “opposites attract”. While they are complete opposites, they completely balanced each other out. Where Kurt was organized and tidy and his home was down right bordering sterile, Leanna is a chaotic mess, but a free spirit who knows what she wants although she doesn’t fully realize it yet.

I loved that we were able to catch up with some of the past characters that we have fallen in love with while watching the love grow between the characters of this book.

I definitely look forward to hearing more about them in future books!

Being someone who has always had a love for books & reading, I connected pretty quickly with Kurt. When we first see Kurt & Leanna Bray together, it's pretty obvious how much she needs him, though she thinks that she doesn't need a man! She is a fly by the seat of my pants type of girl, who is so unorganized which is completely opposite of Kurt! There is so much tension there - sexual tension included - that it's just about to burst into flames!

Read, Write, Love (Love in Bloom, #14, The Remingtons, #5) by Melissa Foster

Overall Rating: 4.5 Rockin’ ★★★★☆

Kurt Remington has a well-planned, peaceful, structured life until one day he meets a “free spirit” named Leanna Bray. He finds his life turned upside down and inside out and knows that it will never be the same again. Kurt rescues Leanna’s dog from drowning and he finds himself unable to keep from thinking about her. This is not usual for Kurt, he is a planner and sticks to a schedule. Leanna cannot even find her cell phone! She can’t stop from admiring the beautiful man that rescued her Pepper.

How was he supposed to concentrate on writing a dark thriller with a wet dog and an insanely sexy woman in the room? Her clothes clung to every curve of her womanly body, and it had taken all his focus to look away. And she was cute, too. Damn cute, the way she fought him to save that …dog. Pepper.

Two people that are unlikely lovers find themselves unable to stay apart. She owns a “Happy mobile,” a VW van and he drives a Mercedes convertible! He is a clean freak and she just lives!

“I mean, look at the thing. Can you really look at it and not smile.”He couldn’t look at her without smiling. “No, I guess I can’t.”

It doesn’t take Kurt long to realize that he want Leanna in his life. Even with her disorganization and carefree ways, there is so much joy within her that he is drawn like a moth to a flame.

Three words lay on the tip of his tongue, and he held them back. Trapped them in his mind like butterflies under glass, where they flapped and fluttered, trying to set their magnificence free. They hadn’t known each other long enough for him to even think the three words that, when strung together and spoken from the heart, were the three most significant words in the English language,…

Kurt wants all of Leanna and he knows that she feels the same way about him, so what is the next step? Move in together, attend a family wedding together? Will Leanna’s new business adventure keep their dream of being together from happening? Kurt and Leanna must make some decisions about their future.

“I’ve written less, but I’ve never enjoyed my life more than I have this past week with you, Leanna. If this is what it feels like to live in an upside-down world, then I never want to be right-side up.”

Hero –Kurt Remington: 5 stars
Heroine –Leanna Bray: 4.5 stars
Steam: 4.5 stars
Plot: 4.5 stars
Cliffhanger: No

The quietness of the beach house is just the place for bestselling author, Kurt Remington, to work on his latest thriller. But the usual serine atmosphere is quickly disrupted when he spies Leanna Bray unsuccessfully trying to get her dog out of the rough ocean water. Concerned that she’ll end up drowning, and wanting to get them both away from his beach house so he can finish writing, Kurt offers up his assistance. It doesn’t take long for Kurt to learn that stubborn Leanna is not only eccentric in her lifestyle, but is as disorganized as Kurt is strictly organized. But he finds himself captivated by her none the less.

Unlike Kurt’s immaculate house, Leanna’s cottage is a bit unkempt, but cute … sort of like Leanna. Much of her time is spent making homemade jams and jellies that she sells at the local flea market, but her dream is to someday sell them in stores. To say thank you for helping rescue her dog, Leanna decides to bring a basket of her homemade goods to Kurt. Impressed by her thoughtfulness and intrigued by her free spirited ways, Kurt finds himself enjoying Leanna’s company. Come join Kurt and Leanna as they test the theory of attraction and see if, indeed, opposites attract.

Read, Write, Love is the fifth book in The Remingtons series and the twelfth book in the Love in Bloom series. I have been enjoying this series since the first book and can honestly say that I have loved each and every one of them. Not only are the characters fun and sexy, but the storyline brings you in and holds your attention throughout the book. I would not only recommend this book, but all of the books in the Love in Bloom series.

This novel proves the fact that opposites most definitely attract! Kurt Remington is a writer of thrillers and can almost never be tempted away from his keyboard. He writes incessantly and when not writing-well he is thinking about his characters, plot line etc. He mostly lives in NYC but does have a cottage up in the Cape to which he escapes to write every summer! He also happens to be a TOTAL neat freak! Enter Leanna Bray with her big floppy puppy. Now as everyone knows--puppies don't think twice about muddy paws etc--but then neither does Leanna!

Leanna can not quite get her dog to obey but loves him to pieces and the dog is forever running away to play! Well--Kurt is happily typing away one evening when he hears a woman frantically calling for her dog. He tries to ignore it but then realizes this woman is about to run into the ocean after her dog (hey I would have done the same!)and decides he better get down there before they both drown. This is when the fun begins----total mess meets total clean. Leana's friends are really funny and you will get a kick out of them as well.

That's all she wrote---you will just have to read this 5 star novel to see how it all works out.Read, Write, Love

Gosh, if I wasn’t a fan of, “love conquers all” and “Happily Ever Afters” I wouldn’t be reading cheesy romance books. And Read, Write, Love certainly contains all that. I guess my problem is maybe it’s just a little bit too cheesy? Kurt Remington is a famous and highly successful author of several thrillers. He’s focused almost to a fault on his craft and perhaps a bit O.C.D. when it comes to the idea of a place for everything and everything in its place in his personal life. While working on his latest book at his summer home on Cape Cod fate introduces him to Leanna Bray a female version of his exact opposite. While Kurt is reserved and quiet, Leanna is uninhibited and not quiet. Where Kurt likes everything neat and orderly Leanna leaves messes wherever she goes. While Kurt has nearly ever minute of his day planned Leanna tends to fly by the seat of her sexy pants. This is supposed to be your classis opposites attract story. I loved Leanna, Kurt is everything the ladies want in their romantic hero to be swoon worthy. Leanna’s friends who made up most of the secondary characters in the book were interesting and likable. Put it all together and it’s a book that on the surface I would think I’d not just sort of like but absolutely love. So what’s my problem?
Well first off all of those differences between Kurt and Leanna never really caused any issues because Kurt was so smitten with Leanna that he just saw her dirty laundry lying in a pile in her bedroom, the piles of dirty dishes in her kitchen, her forgetfulness all as just adorable. Yeah, well see how adorable he thinks it all is after about a year of having to pick up after her and clean up her messes. And that was part of my problem. Kurt was just too quick to be willing to over look all their differences and ready to change everything about how he lived his life to accommodate and incorporate Leanna into it. But I can’t think of a single time Leanna changed anything about how she lived her life to better fit into Kurt’s. The only real accommodation she made was accepting that he needed time to write and encouraging him to take that time away from their time together and not be jealous of it. We’re told that Leanna for as attractive and uninhibited as she is is awkward in bed. I consider myself a fairly sexually experienced man but I have to confess I truly didn’t get what the author was trying to say here? Leanna wasn’t a cold fish In bed, she didn’t harbor any inhibitions about her body or being naked. She was eager and enthusiastic and responsive which are what’s important in a lover. We’re told she moved awkwardly. I guess that part of making love, how you move in response to your partner seems so basic and natural I just have a problem envisioning a woman who zigs when she should zag or pulls when she should push or whatever it is Leanna was supposed to be doing wrong. And we’re shown she likes to dance so if you have the natural rhythm to be a good dancer………… And of course even though Kurt acknowledges Leanna is a little awkward in bed he also finds that adorable. All of this adorability of her quirkiness and messiness and forgetfulness just got to be a little bit over the top too much even for the hopeless romantic in me.
Then you know that in every modern romance story there has to be some hurdle, some conflict for the couple to overcome before they find their Happily Ever After. It seemed to me in Kurt and Leanna’s story the author had to go out of her way to manufacture some issue to come between them and she blew it out of proportion to make it big enough for us to worry that maybe our lovers wouldn’t find their H.E.A. I mean from the minute the issue was made known did any reader not know how it would be resolved? It just took a little down home wisdom from a font of down home wisdom, Hal Braden, to help poor conflicted Kurt sort things out and figure out what he needed to do to find his H.E.A. with Leanna. And maybe its just me but the H.E.A. seemed abrupt for lack of a better term. Problem resolved and then it was The End all in three pages. This was a good read. Just not good enough to earn more than three stars from me.

Kurt is spending the summer on the Cape working on his latest book. He hardly ever gets away from his laptop and doesn't like to be disturbed. He likes things neat and tidy. The last thing he expects to interrupt his writing is a woman trying to save a dog in the ocean during a storm. Leanna is a free spirit who leaves a mess in her wake. She isn't sure what she wants to do in life and she sure isn't shy. When Leanna goes back to thank Kurt he finds he can't get her out of his mind. She has him wanting to take time away from his book. They are complete opposites but seem to balance each other out. Just when they think they may have the start to a good future Leanna gets the chance of a lifetime. It may cause them to be tore apart before they have a chance at a future.

Kurt is a very focused man. He never misses a deadline and keeps everything in it's place. He only seems to take time away for his family and that is it. He isn't much on dating. Leanna is a very open person. She is not shy at all and always seems to have a mess going on. She has a few ideas what she wants to do in life but nothing is settled. She likes to move around. She is also afraid to be her self in bed at times.

I was glad to get to read this book as Kurt was never talked about a whole lot. He kinda stays on the edges and seems quiet. This book gave me a chance to see a whole new side of him. He is very sweet and sexy. He an be very romantic. Leanna brings out so many good things in him and gets him to enjoy his life along with Pepper. He shows just how thoughtful he can be when he does everything he can to help Leanna and is very considerate of her friends. He also takes his time with her and lets her be herself. I like that Leanna while being a very sexy woman and not shy does worry about her sexual performance. She gives voice t what many women worry about and I think it was a nice touch that the author added a character like her. I laughed while reading this many times. You get to meet many great new characters and lots of the older ones you may already know. I never gave much thought to Kurt but I think he may be one of my favorite brothers. You must read this series if you haven't yet. While they can be read as a standalone I say read them all they are fantastic.

Read, Write, Love by Melissa Foster starts off with a great note to readers. Sometimes, I like to read how stories come about. And, I knew that it was going to take a lot of dragging from a very special woman to get Kurt, a male writer, away from the only comfort he stubbornly knows of.

Kurt lives in Cape Cod. He bought the estate of a local painter with the intentions to renovate. (I love it already!!!) The whole ambiance was just magnificent. Kurt meets Leanna and Pepper the little dog, in a very annoying way for both of them.

So, Leanna and I, both noticed that Kurt was perhaps a neat freak. What can go through Kurt's mind now that Leanna has shown herself partially naked? Where will all this lead to?

It was cute to read how Kurt felt about Leanna when he drove her home and saw her front garden ~ (a little unkempt, a little wild, and incredibly pretty).
At Leanna's home, Bella recognises Kurt describing him as not just a writer but the hottest thriller writer out there.

Leanna goes on with her life. She is taking her apricot-lime and strawberry-apricot jams to the flea market. As I was reading, of course, I imagined myself in her shoes; after all, I don't make or have much money just like her - that gives us one thing in common. At the end of the day, she goes to Kurt's place and gives him a basket of "Luscious Leanna's Sweet Treats" Then, he told her to stay - I sighed. He finally realises that she's sexy and more.

Yessiree! Even a famous hunk like Kurt can have a rival. The thought that Leanna spent a night with Carey was able to make his chest tighten. He had to ask her about it.

This is another amazing romantic story I truly recommend. It feels like all is possible and that it can happen to me. I need a dog, rush! I need to visit Cape Cod and stay at Seaside Cottages, rush! Stories like this one, make me dream.

I loved reading about when complete opposites are the ones that are perfect for one another. My hubs and I are kind of like this where he is more of a free spirit and I am more structured and like to have a schedule in my life. Kurt Remington writes about thrillers and is pretty much glued to his keyboard. Nothing can pull him away when he is thinking about his writing. Kurt lives in NYC but has a cottage in the Cape that he will go to so he can write in the summer. This is where Kurt reminds me of myself…he is a neat freak. Then here comes Leanna Bray into his life to make it just a little bit more messy. Her puppy doesn’t make anything better on the topic of neatness. He doesn’t care where he trails his mess and honestly, neither does Leanna. She tries her best to make her puppy listen to her but he keeps running away to go and play. Kurt is busy with his writing when he is distracted by a woman that is calling about for her dog. He can not ignore it no matter how much he tries until he realizes that she has run into the ocean to get the puppy. Who wouldn’t have done that to get their cute little puppy back?! Kurt is then twisted to go and help her. This is where everything really starts to happen within the book. Things get messy, but they are a lot of fun that way. I loved Leanna and her friends. They made me laugh and I know that you will love them as much as I did. I am the stickler and I enjoyed her character just as much as I did the well-put together (sometimes) Kurt.
Read, Write, Love is the 5th book in The Remingtons Series and the 12th book in the Love in Bloom Series. Every single book that I have read in this series has made me smile, cry, laugh, feel in some way. This one was no different. I would recommend every single book in this series!

To say that opposites attract is a serious understatement when it comes to Kurt and Leanna. The chemistry was down right steamy and I simply could not get enough of it!

Kurt is a famous author who spends most of his time at his cottage on the beach writing. He likes the solitude and doesn't like to be bothered. Especially if it means he may not meet his deadline. Did I mention that he also happens to be a serious neat freak who likes order and just doesn't do chaos?

Leanna is a free spirit who takes one day at a time. She is trying to make her jam making business a success but has trouble with organization. She has a huge heart and is pretty much a very happy person. There is absolutely no order to her life and that's exactly the way she wants it. Life is too short to be too serious, right?

Regardless, Leanna and Kurt come together in a unique way that not only irritates Kurt but also intrigues him. Who is this gorgeous woman who never meets a stranger and why is he so attracted to her? I loved how Leanna could ruffle Kurt's feathers without even trying and Kurt's reaction to her is priceless and very cute :)

As the story progresses, Kurt is able to help Leanna become more successful and Leanna is able to show Kurt there is another side to life that doesn't have to be consumed with work. How it's okay to be a little careless and have fun at times.

A sweet romantic story that I thoroughly enjoyed. Foster has a way of sucking you in to her stories and never letting you go. I loved reading this wonderful love story and I have no doubt you will too :)

Another Melissa Foster series comes to a conclusion and all I can think is "More! I want more!" If you have followed my reviews for the books I've read so far, you'll know how much I love the world Melissa has created. I want to live next to these characters. I want to meet them and say hi to them around town. I have to say that out of all of Melissa's female characters, Leanna is my favorite so far. To me, Leanna is real. She has "new relationship" fears that most people have. She's afraid Kurt will hate the fact that she's clumsy, in and out of bed. She's messy. She's creative. And best of all, she's not perfect. I love that! When she's feeling insecure, Kurt steps right up and comforts her. He is an amazing character. He's kind, loving, and sexy as hell. He's accepting of Leanna and her three friends that are just as insane as she is. Loved her friends and I cannot wait to meet them again in an upcoming series.

Melissa's books are filled with love. Love between the couples in each story and love between two generous families. The best thing about her books is that the characters are so close to their families, we continue to visit with characters from the first book in the Braden's series. I know that, as we move forward with the Braden cousins, we'll continue to get updates on the original Bradens and hopefully the Remingtons. It doesn't feel like one series is ending, but as the start of a new chapter.

MY REVIEW
Leanna Bray and Pepper are not concerned with neat when Pepper goes off running toward the Ocean. Leanna goes right after her baby, and nearly drowns herself, except for the redeeming quality of Kurt Remington. Kurt, who had been sitting on the porch of his beach house writing - doing what writers do - was interrupted by the sounds of the woman calling and chasing after her dog. He ignored them for a while, until he heard them veer into danger. Then he went to their rescue.
Kurt pulls Leanna from danger and right into his life - she can't stop thinking about the shirtless muscular hero, so she stops by to offer him some jams from her own jam making business. He invites her into his home of order and defined lines and she steps right in with organized chaos.
Will this relationship grow? There is plenty of fire - it's combustible. Can order and carefree work together in one sustainable relationship? You'll just have to read and see. You won't regret it. There is an awesome story line with the attraction of opposites, independent women in small business, holding on by overcompensation, and finally trust and love. This is another Remington man with a back-story, and there are more to come. We get to meet Leanna's friends, who are fun and funny. I am sure we will see some more of them at some point now, or maybe even in a new series! Read, Write, Love is a great read for summer and holiday reading!
I received this book in exchange for my honest review.

What can I say about Read, Write, Love that I haven’t said about all the other books in The Remington’s Series? WOW, I loved it!. Kurt Remington is now my favourite Remington sibling, a hot brooding writer who seems to be reclusive, he’s organised and a neat freak, everything has its place so when he meets the whirlwind that is Leanna, the total opposite of him, messy, disorganised and you think it will never work, Kurt would not even go there with the annoyance he showed when they first met.
Their chemistry is amazing and opposites do attract. But both are in denial, neither needs a partner which makes it even better because we all know the tension is building between them and it’s only a matter of time.
It was a beautiful romance where we get to know the final Remington sibling properly and Leanna too but also get to catch up of the other family members too.
Melissa Foster again has outdone herself yet again and I can’t wait to read more from her.

First things first, Kurt Remington is absolutely appealing on so many levels, but what did it for me? He’s an author. What’s there not to love? So even before I dove into Read, Write, Love by Melissa Foster, I was anticipating the read. And as the story progressed I was introduced to more of his hotness, I was swooning.

As usual, Melissa Foster has done an amazing job with the Remington family and their love lives. I thought it was quite clever, pairing Kurt with the quirky Leanna Bray. They are total opposites, and I loved that because it provides the perfect balance. Leanna allows his to look beyond his bubble. A must read for romance enthusiasts.

Read, Write, Love is the fifth book in The Remingtons series (Love in Bloom Book #14) by Melissa Foster. The Love in Bloom series proved to be a heartwarming journey through love, family, and personal growth. Spanning multiple interconnected series/stories, it offers a wonderful blend of romance, humor, and emotional depth that kept me reading the whole way through.
Ms. Foster crafted fully developed, relatable, and multidimensional characters who added an extra element of emotion and interest to my overall reading experience. The heroes are fiercely loyal and endearing, while the heroines are smart, empowered, and refreshingly ‘real’. Each character feels like someone you could know in real life, making their struggles and triumphs, high and lows, all the more impactful.
The stories have a perfect balance of steamy romance mixed with heartfelt moments. But that doesn’t mean that Ms. Foster shies away from exploring deeper themes like forgiveness, self-discovery, and the complexities of relationships – adding dynamic layers to the storyline/s. But, despite the emotional depth, the series still maintains more of a lighthearted charm, sprinkled with humor and tender family connections.
While each novel can be read as a standalone, there is an interconnectedness with the recurring characters and overlapping storylines - which help create a sense of community that feels warm and inviting. It’s like being welcomed into a big, loving family where everyone has a worthwhile story to tell.
‘Within the Love in Bloom big-family romance collection you'll find fiercely loyal heroes and smart, empowered women on their search for true love. They're flawed, funny, and easy to relate to. Characters from each series appear in future Love in Bloom books…’
If you are a fan of contemporary romance or simply looking for a feel-good series to escape into, this series is a worthwhile binge read…
