This contemporary teen novel, written by Robin Jones Gunn, portrays a teen who writes her thoughts about God, life, and love.
Here's your chance to peek into Christy Miller's diary . . . with her permission, of course. . . . What's Christy thinking and feeling after she graduates from high school? After college? After she gets married? You'll find out here, on the pages of Christy Miller's Diary, where Christy writes her thoughts about God, life and love.
The idea of finding out what Christy wrote in her diary formed the inspiration for Robin, an avid journaler herself, to create Christy Miller's Diary.

Fans of Christy Miller will LOVE this!! I did!! Especially since I've read all the other Christy Miller books, so its nice getting to kind of read them again but not really read them again. Does that make any sense? There were also some bonus scenes and stuff, and you get to see Christys reactions to things from other books that weren't set in her pov. If I'm not confusing you at all here, good job. WRITING STYLE Written in diary entries, so its very straightforward. I did notice some telling instead of showing, but its a diary so I didn't let that bug me. I do wish that she wrote more entires, like she wrote one maybe three times a month-ish, and I would've liked to see some new content. I still loved this, though.
CHARACTERS The only character here is really Christy, and RJG does a great job of fleshing out her character, and making her seem real. There's mentions of other characters, ie. Todd, Katie, Doug, and it was fun seeing them briefly in this.
ROMANCE Christy does fall in love with Todd in this one, although I would not consider it a romance. It's mostly told or implied that she likes him. If you're looking for something with romance, check out the actual Christy miller series.
This was actually really good!! I'd already read all of the original Christy Miller books (like five times) before I read this, so I practically know the books by heart and it was fun to 'read them again.' I'd definitely check this out!! You wont regret buying it... and maybe it'll make you want to start your own diary!!
I do my reviews in the form of a letter, which is why they are written like this.
Dear Robin Jones Gunn,
I was okay with this book. The vast majority of what was written were events that took place in other books, like the Christy Miller series, the Sierra Jensen series, Christy and Todd: the College Years series, and the Katie Weldon series. A few events weren't recorded in any of those books. I usually don't expect much from books like this because they don't have much of a plot. They are just diaries, meaning they are restatements of what already happened. Christy didn't write really deeply. She didn't write really secret and interesting things that were going on in her mind. Most of what she wrote were pretty basic internal thoughts. I really like your books, Robin, especially the Christy ones, but Christy doesn't have a very exciting diary. She's not a very psychologically "interesting" character. Anyways, I did like the fact that I got to walk with Christy nearly from the time I first met her to a year after a very significant event in her life happened. I liked seeing her narrate from a first person point of view as well. I really like your books, Robin, but I just don't think Christy really needed a diary.
I am a huge fan of the Christy Miller series by Robin Jones Gunn and it was a no-brainer for me to get this book! It is a companion to the series and it follows Christy from the very first book to a year after Todd and her are married. Anyone who is interested in reading this book should probably read the series first, I'm sure it would be fine to read this first though too.
Christy Miller has been one of my favorite female protagonists for a long time and I loved getting a closer look at her in her diary. I was able to really see her grow in faith throughout the diary. It was nice to see that not everyday was a good one for her too; it made her seem more real and I liked to see how she used her faith to bring her out of the "slums".
Overall this was a wonderful companion to the Christy Miller series and I am really glad that I bought the book. I highly recommend the entire series and I hope you check it out!
Super cute! All through the Christy books she talks about writing in her journal and it’s neat to get to read those thoughts.
If you want a quick read-through or check in with Christy and don’t want to dive into the whole series, this is perfect for that! But if you haven’t read the Christy series, this is full of spoilers!
When I read the Christy Miller books a long time ago, I thought it would’ve been neat to know her thoughts about things that happened in her life. I was very blessed by this book. Very well done!
Mixed feelings. It's a fun little side-by-side to the Christy Miller books with a little extra explanation, a "behind the scenes," if you will, to the novels. But most of it was just repeating what was in the books.
I finished the series and then read this. I loved it all, it brought me back to the books and made me remember all the things Christy went through. Definitely read after the series! So good!
I decided to read this before starting in on the last book in the Christy Miller series—Christy and Todd: The Baby Years—and man, it was emotional. I feel like I know these characters and just seeing how far Christy and all her friends have come and all the ways God worked in their life is amazing.
In this book, it was more just highlights of events that happened throughout the series from the time Christy was 15 up until a year into her and Todd’s marriage. It basically covers the first Christy Miller book, the first trilogy—Christy & Todd: The College Years—and briefly, the Katie Weldon series. It was nice to read Christy’s thoughts and diary entries through the time that the Katie Weldon series takes place.
This was definitely nostalgic and since I’m almost through with the series, a joy to read and look back at all the things that has happened to these characters.
"I like this book because, it's a diary about Christy Miller's life and it's pretty cool. I would recommend this book to Christy Miller lovers and I think a lot of people would like this book. I've only read the high school years and wasn't supposed to read past the diary entries about those but I ended up reading the whole thing because it was so good. Now I know what is going to happen in their lives after high school " - Cadee, age 11.
I enjoyed visiting Christy and her thoughts again. It's been quite a while since I've read the Christy Miller series, so I really enjoyed going back and catching up. Also, I loved the new addition the author added to this second edition of Christy's diary. We find out more of what happens after Christy and Todd marry! Can't wait for more from Robin! :)
This book was great, I love how Christy just wrote down alot of thoughts. It is good that i have read the christy books before and I enjoyed seeing wat she thought about wat i have read before. This was a great book and i hope Robin Jones Gunn will continue to write more books. :)
