Collaboration

Rate this book
This is not your typical rock star romance. For one, the “rock star” is a rapper. And not just any rapper. Trace is the hottest ticket in the music industry right now, regardless of which definition of ‘hot’ you choose.

Taryn Starr is not the girl-next-door who unknowingly meets a celebrity. Known as “America’s Sweetheart,” the reigning country music princess and world-renowned superstar knows exactly who Trace is…or does she?

Their worlds collide when the musicians whose paths were never destined to cross are forced by their joint record label to collaborate on a song. The sparks fly and ignite a fire that blazes hotter with every minute they spend together—for better or worse. One thing’s for certain, the two media magnets can’t deny their explosive chemistry, but will life in the spotlight ultimately bring Trace and Taryn together or force them apart?

***This contemporary romance new adult novel is for mature audiences. The language alone would make a sailor blush (the guy’s a rapper, remember?) so 18+ only, please.

Did I like this book?

Yes!!

Did I want more from this book?

Yes!!

Did I love these characters?

Yes!!

Would I recommend this book?

Yes!!

So I'm sure your asking yourself, "Well if she loved it so much why did she give it only 3 stars?"

Well let me tell you why my friends...the reason is because I wanted more!!! I wanted to know more about these two characters.....I wanted more tension between them....more emotion because I loved both them!

We have a rapper and a country singer.......RIGHT THERE is recipe for disaster. Two different worlds colliding and meshing together, now hence the problem.....there really wasn't any COLLIDING!! This is a country princess and a hardcore rapper or so they are personified as but everything meshed TOO smoothly.

Here's the other problem this could be a "me thing" because I like über angsty stuff and to me this should have been uber angsty. So for most people this could be a book you would love and you wouldn't change a thing about it!!

My recommendation is give it a try because bottom line is.....I'm glad I read it:))

When opposites attracted it's usually leads to explosions (in a good way ;)

Meet Trace - The bad-boy rapper :D

Meet Taryn (Peaches) - “America’s Sweetheart" :P

"Now that little Southern Belle I just met ... well, that’s a totally different story. I could feel the innocence just pouring off that one, and damn if I didn’t want to be the man to make a woman out of her. Yeah, as if that would ever happen."

When their worlds collides due a Collaboration forced by their joint record label They had no choice but to Work together and spend some time with each other.

They didn't expect to fall in love <3

"Holy shit. I've heard voices described as 'angelic' before, but i never knew what they were talking about before now. She sounds like pure honey when she sings, all syrupy and so sinfully sweet - I'm pretty sure i could go to hell based solely on the thoughts i'm having right now. Now i'm the one staring."

What I liked in the relationship between these two is that it developed slowly .. After they spent time together they both had to go on tour on different sides of the country .. They kept in touch through text messages, phone and video calls. They got to know each other more deeply, and when they met again sparks were flying in the air :D

Maintain their new relationship despite all that's against them is not going to be easy. they need to overcome the secrets of their past, the industry, the fans, and the new emotions that arise in them.

The end was fantastic. I really enjoyed the book, I love books that music is a central theme and i enjoyed the different side Michelle Lynn & Nevaeh Lee created here. I recommend this book for all the music lovers :D

So I have to say that at the beginning of this one I was not a fan of Trace. What I loved though was his growth throughout the story. He became the man he was supposed to be, one that his parents would be proud of.

From the beginning I really liked Taryn. She was sweet and lonely even being surrounded by people. The one thing that I didn’t care for with her character was the way she let her Mom who also happened to be her manager, treat her. She had no backbone when it came to that despicable woman.

I loved the chemistry between Trace and Teryn. They definitely had that spark. These two had a couple bumps along the way but they were always true to each other and learned to lean on each other. Some of the secondary characters were awesome. I don’t know if Regina’s story will be written as it was supposed to be out a while ago but I would definitely read it.

Thanks Mindy for the buddy read 😘

Collaboration was fantastic and I loved every moment of it. While there are loads of Rock Star books I have never read a book with a Rapper and a Country Star which made it all the more enjoyable. Talk about two different worlds but Trace and Taryn make it work and were perfect together. I loved their connection and how they got to know each other through texting. The ending was perfect and in my world of HEA it ended exactly how I would have hoped. This book is definitely going on my reread list.

What a great book!!! Such a different take on music books these days.

I flew through this one. I loved the cute texts they shared. I loved their passion and faith in each other.

There were some bumps along the way but none of them were deal breakers for me. They each made a few silly stupid mistakes.

One of my fav books so far of the year!

I was originally going to rate this 4.5 stars, but I think I was just in a pissy mood, because this is total 5-star right here.

I really loved this story. It was something different, with good characters, hot scenes, and cool music references.

I really enjoy interracial romance, and this one had the added element of the urban vs country scene dynamic. I really, really liked Trace.

I will definitely read this author more after this one.

5 Shining Stars!!!

Such a sweet and entertaining story!!!I enjoyed every minute of it! That’s exactly what I needed- a light, fun and sexy read. And the best thing about it- the heroine is simply amazing and absolutely likeable. She didn’t irritate me for a second! That’s what I call a breath of fresh air!

“The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.”

Taryn and Trace are both successful and famous. They both are in the music industry: Taryn is a “country music princess” and Trace is a rapper. Their paths cross when they are forced to do a song together- a collaboration.

“I’ve heard voices described as ‘angelic’ before, but I never knew what they were talking about before now.”

Taryn and Trace can’t be more different...but as we all know...opposites attract! Trace is funny, charming and outgoing- a total player. Taryn is sweet, shy and not a definition of a ‘party person’. She is really grounded despite her fame. Her mother is a real control freak and a total b*tch!

After starting this project, Trace is soon seeing how different Taryn is and he will open up for the first time about his past and his ‘real’ life. Taryn will be absolutely surprised to discover this bad boy is actually an amazing and caring person.

“You’re my kryptonite, my Achilles’ heel
I can’t believe the things that you’re makin’ me feel
But I’m no Hercules, baby
Ain’t no white knight
Got no superpowers
So I’m losin’ this fight
You gonna break me, remake me,
Open me up for all the world to see
But I’ll give you what you want
Cause I can’t say no
Take all that I have
But baby, never let me go.”

Like a said...I loved it! The writing style is perfect. I was hooked from the first page!!!I absolutely recommend this read.

I had the pleasure of beta reading Collaboration and let me tell you... 5 GRAMMY-WINNING STARS!
Here's how I pictured Trace and Taryn:

As far as appearances go, she was the country music pop-princess and he was the blue-eyed, bad-boy rapper.  The novel starts with the characters at the Grammy's...and let me tell you, the first few pages were like book crack!  I got addicted and then I spent the rest of the day needing more! :)

It was a slow-burning, slow-building romance. Which was such a relief from all the insta-love you see in NA.  I loved the way they came together through working on the song the record label forced on them, all the cute text-messages, and the way their first kiss happened.  Not to mention, the smoking-hot sex scenes!

You'll love Collaboration! A must read!  Standalone with a very fitting HEA!

This is going to be short and sweet. I thought this was once again a good read, but not a great read. I didn't find it to be anything new for the genre. Yes, it was a rapper and a country music star which is different but the storyline was pretty typical and predictable.

Trace is a rapper, he's a man whore who reforms himself when he meets Taryn, America's Sweetheart and country music star. It was an opposites attract love story. They come from different worlds...seem to have nothing in common.

Trace is in the public eye quite often and not usually in a positive way. He and Taryn are on the same label and end up collaborating on a song together. From that they build a friendship and eventually more.

My biggest complaint was the juvenile drama. They weren't even together a day when they were plagued with cheating rumors and jealousy.

Both on separate tours they are trying to build their relationship with thousands of miles between them.

I liked the build up of their friendship....getting to know each other....texting, etc. But it took almost the whole book to get together and then they spent most of the remaining time with trust and miscommunication issues.

I'm also not a fan of the whole scenarios. That's just

The end was sweet and there were some funny moments and the sexy times were pretty hot but it just didn't wow me.

I loved this story so much, that its hard for me right now to express in words how I feel... It was so sweet and touching and thinking about both Taryn and Trace (*SWOON* I absolutely ADORED Trace... I wanna have his babies!!!) has left me unable to sleep for the last 3 hours!!!!

From the first time that we meet Trace, "Now that little Southern Belle I just met… well, that’s a totally different story. I could feel the innocence just pouring off that one, and damn if I didn’t want to be the man to make a woman out of her. Yeah, as if that would ever happen..." to that ending , I NEVER STOPPED LOVING THE SWEET-BUT-OH-SO-DIRTY TRACE!!!! *LE SIGH*

When a story hits you that hard, as this has done, you know that it's EPIC!!!! Beautifully written and I cannot wait to read more from this series!!!!

This was very well written. I think it was a unique storyline pairing up a rapper and a country singer. However, I do struggle with groupies and paparazzi and don't really like them in my books. This played a big part into why this wasn't a higher rated book.

Trace was not an easy character to like in the beginning. He kept saying he was not what everyone thought but it took a bit of time in the story to truly see that.

Taryn's mom was hell bent on keeping Taryn's reputation as the country industries sweetheart and for the most part she really was. She was down to earth, thanks to her father and just a kind person.

Trace and Taryn just seem to be from two different world's. She wasn't out partying it up like him or brawling and going to jail like him or even getting mixed up with groupies like Trace did. As much as they weren't alike, you do find that they had a lot in common and the more the story progressed the more their worlds came together.

Once Trace focused on Taryn and less on his image, I actually really liked him. I liked them both together. The last portion of the book really made this book worth the read.

***Safety: Despite the groupies, there is no cheating in this book.

Michelle and Nevaeh do a wonderful job of portraying two celebrities falling in love. The storyline was believable and authentic. I felt the characters were realistic and beautifully written. Trace was absolutely swoon worthy... Sexy and talented. And Taryn was completely identifiable. And when the two finally collaborated, the sparks were palpable. I recommend this love story to anyone looking for a great read.

This book was just butterfly inducing awesome, is there a real life Trace because I want one real bad.

My only complain is, I wanted more this wasn't enough.

4 stars!

I am a huge sucker for celebrity romances, and Collaboration is a great celebrity romance. I love reading about all the glitz, glamour, and challenges of stardom. This story features not one, but two music superstars.

Taryn is country music’s hottest ticket. As this book opens, she is attending the Grammy Awards Ceremony and wins “Entertainer of the Year”. She is beautiful, talented, and maintains a good girl image. Controlled by her over bearing mother/manager, she is desperate to find some independence and “say” over her life.

Trace is the “bad boy” of rap music and is the hottest selling artist on the charts. He is also present at the Grammy’s and wins “Artist of the Year”. There is an initial competitive vibe between Taryn and Trace, but this is quickly replaced by an intense physical attraction.

When Trace and Taryn’s record label puts them together to collaborate on a song, the attraction is undeniable and things between them intensify quickly.

I found myself intrigued by this book and the characters. As these celebrities try to juggle their music careers, touring demands, and the ever-present paparazzi, (all while trying to begin a relationship), I found myself feeling empathy towards what celebrities deal with. There are certainly perks of stardom, but these individuals sacrifice their privacy and freedom every single day.

I wasn’t sure that a romance between two seemingly opposite individuals could be believed, but I was pleasantly surprised to learn that Trace and Taryn weren’t so very different than a first glance would indicate.

There wasn’t much that I didn’t love about this book. The sex scenes were amazing, the conflict was understandable and believable, and I loved this couple together. My only complaint is that this book had the potential for an even greater “wow” factor, but it never quite reached the plot and character depth that I feel like it needed.

The epilogue was a treat, and I appreciate how this author chose to leave this couple (and the reader) as the last sentence was read.

Overall, Collaboration was an amazing rock star/celebrity romance that I highly recommend.

WHOA!!!!! Talk about a surprise for me! Every time I start a book this year I've held my breath wondering will I finish this one or not. I'm needing something different these days something outside of what I've read.

I'm TOTALLY stoked that this book surpassed my expectations and admittedly kicking myself for not starting it the day I purchased it!

This book is a phenomenal collaboration of two authors I've not read before even though one is published (ummm yeah I bought the other books she published and will be giving those a try ASAP). This book moved me to tears towards the end and I was a little pissed (if you read you know) before I literally sighed with relief.

An absolutely beautiful breathtaking love story proving that opposites do attract but are they truly opposite? Never judge a book by its cover is a motto that applies in all manners of my life cause the outside will never truly reveal the absolutely amazing hidden treasures you find once you take the time to "slowly" read, get to know and embrace the inside which always surpasses what you can only see from the cover. Trace & Taryn's relationship was example of this and kudos to the authors for actually developing the relationship before they got to know each other on a totally different level. Oh FYI I love the cover of this book ;)

5 stunning star read that had me laughing, angry, crying and acting like a fool as I talked to my Kindle when I finished ~ I even hugged the darn thing!!!

Excited to hear there will be more ummm Ryder please :) Actually the secondary characters were amazing and I want
a Stella in MY life!!!

So let's talk about Collaboration. I love this book to death. I actually read it twice since writing this review, because the chemistry that Trace and Taryn shared was definitely explosive and hot. When I read the synopsis it drew me automatically. I have read a bunch of rockstar books, none that contained a rapper and a country singer. How the heck would these two musicians ever cross paths and make a connection?

Well that's the story of Collaboration. And with the first chapter it starts off. This dual POV begins with Taryn at the Grammy Awards. Already I am intrigued because I love reading book about celebrities and the Hollywood lifestyle. And this book follows exactly that path.

Taryn_collage

Taryn, is what the industy calls "America's Sweetheart". Beautiful, young, blonde and a talented self made country music star. She's everywhere and they love her!! And she's up for Best Album...and so is Trace. Trace is a bad ass rapper. Hottest young rapper on the market. And when he wins over Taryn, she's furious. When he gets up on stage in front of millions to except his award, Taryn is expecting some punk kid. And she sort of gets that. But then she sees a different side to Trace. Something more softer when he's up on stage talking about his parents. For a second she's intrigued but it doesn't mean the blow of not winning that award still doesn't hurt. So that's their first encounter together. For her, let's hope its the last.

Let's talk about Trace for a second here. I need to show you what we are talking about. You need to see the gorgeous face and insanely hot body that Taryn is hating right now.

Trace_Collage

Holy fucking shit!! Are you kidding me dude?? What goes on with that body?? And his eyes?? He is a beautiful black man with fucking blue eyes that stare right through you!!! My god, I am done for. I don't care if you took my Grammy...dude, take my body!! and have at it! Seriously, look at him. You can't help yourself with a face like that.

Okay Trish, focus. Remember there is a review to write. And I haven't painted a great picture of Trace. That's because he doesn't paint such a great picture of himself in the media. He's a whore; Trace and his boys are known for their parties, and girls, and booze. Just coming off of his high and winning Best Album at the Grammy's, he has a reputation to uphold. Why not do a Collaboration with America's Sweetheart and make yourself look that much better. Fucking Hollywood!

So that's what happens...Taryn and Trace must collaborate on a song. They both do not want this, but the record company wants it. And they always get what they want. So when they meet up at the recording studio to work on their song, it just goes so very differently then they had imagined. First, of course, there is tension. But more so its sexual, hells yeah!!! But after the façade leaves them and the smoke clears, what you are left with is two very talented musicians. And they are both very surprised by this.

For me this where I fell in love with Trace. He's so different and there is so much more underneath that bad boy persona he gives off to the public. And he's so fucking talented. But aside from the crazy chemistry that they share in the recording studio on a professional level, there chemistry runs way deeper than that.

Trace is left dumbfounded by her talents.

"I've heard voices described as "angelic" before, but I never knew what they were talking about before now. She sounds like pure honey when she sings, all syrupy and so sinfully sweet-I'm pretty sure I could go to Hell based solely on the thoughts I'm having right now.

Now I'm the one staring. Fortunately, she's is completely oblivious, her eyes closed while she strums her guitar."

After there amazing time in the recording studio where they bonded in a way they never expected, they both go their separate ways, both touring the country. I love how they keep in touch with each other, via text messaging and late night phone calls. These two are just fucking dying to get in each other pants. I mean I would, she's the purest of pure, sweet; his "Peaches". And Trace, is just a surprise to her. So after time apart and way too much sexual tension these two collaborate in a different way...with their bodies....

"Do you want me?" I whisper. She leans her head back against the wall, further exposing her neck, and I take the opportunity to trail kisses from her ear down to her collarbone. I kiss across the delicate area, which judging by the sounds she's making, is also an erogenous zone for her. Then I proceed to kiss my way back up her neck before whispering in her other ear, "Although I like that answer, I need to hear you say it, sweetheart. Do. You. Want. Me?" I ask, nibbling on her earlobe with each word spoken.

"Yes, dammit, I want you," she says forcefully and yanks my shirt open, ripping the buttons, before tearing it off me. That's all the answer I need.

Holy shitballs. Trace is so fucking hot!! And he does this shit to her over and over and over again. HMMM, all reasons for my re read!! HOLLA!!

The ways in which Trace seduces Taryn, and her body...She is no match for me. They fall.....hard....and I loved reading all about it. Again and again. Their dual POVs totally worked so well in this book. I needed and wanted to hear from both of them.

As much as you enjoy all the hot, steamy, panty dropping sex, this story is WAY more than that. Between the paparazzi, mixed up stories that are being told in the media, Taryn's overly obsessive mother/manager and Taryn's guitarist/close friend Ryder who is very much interested in her, there are just too many things working against them. And with touring and being separated, all this time apart just isn't not good. And the story becomes very angsty. I LOVE IT!!

So many times I had to speed read to just to get to the end of a chapter to figure out what the hell was going on. Frustrated and OMGing a hundred times....

The authors do such an amazing job of showing the reader their amazing connection, considering they aren't together for such a period of time. That's what I loved about it. You need strong dialog to support this, and I LOVED their dialog. The media just can't seem to accept an African American rap star dating a beautiful southern bell singing country music. So that is part of their struggle as a couple. Too many strikes against them. Can they fight it and survive it?

I have to say, what they go through in this book is heart wrenching, and real, and pulled at my heart, big time. And yes, we do have that "UGLY CRY" moment. Yes Trish had to put the iPad down, have her cry, a hard cry. I wasn't expecting all this emotion. And this book evoked so much emotion from me. Hence the RE read!

I am done telling you about Collaboration because there is soo much more to the story, I think you need to read it for yourself to see. The way in which the authors choose to wrap it all up...the kick ass epilogue....I can't say enough....I will gladly dish out 5 HOLLAS (5 Stars) for this amazeballs story!!

4.5 I swooned for the first time in 2014 Stars!

FINALLY!! Ding! Ding! Ding! We have a winner! I FINALLY have found my first book boyfriend in 2014! And he is a sexy bad boy rapper named Trace!

He's a Sexy Bad Boy Rapper and she's "America's Sweetheart" and Country Music Superstar.

 photo Collabcollage.jpg

Trace and Taryn are tasked by their record label to collaborate on a song together.

"She sounds like pure honey when she sings, all syrupy and so sinfully sweet-I'm pretty sure I could go to hell based solely on the thoughts I'm having right now." -Trace

This story is a slow building inferno. It's a fun, sexy, swoon worthy fast paced read. Despite being from different worlds and complete opposites Trace and Taryn have amazing chemistry. I loved that they slowly became friends and the banter between these two was so much fun to read. They have many obstacles to overcome from outside forces. A crazy mom, their peers, an ex-boyfriend, groupies, and the media and hype stemming from being in a bi-racial relationship. No matter what these two come up against they endure all that is thrown at them and get their happily ever after!

My favorite line from the book:

"Bingo, Motherfucker-this shits for real."

This book is a must read! I did not want it to end. I personally fell in love with Taryn (country star) and Trace (rapper) the two main characters. Who are portrayed in everyone's eyes as being so different but yet when they come together for Collaboration and get to know one another are they really? Many twists and turns in their very hectic lifestyle keeps you wanting to turn the page! I routed for this book, this Collaboration, this relationship! Could not wait to read and see what happens out of the Collaboration!! The writing is very well done as Michelle Lynn and Nevaeh Lee have to develop two very different characters and lifestyles in the world of country and rap. This is one of the Best yet to come from Michelle Lynn! Highly recommend!

4.5-5 stars

This was a great story! I have to say that I loved Trace and Taryn and really liked their story. This is the first story I've read by this author but based on this I'll definitely be trying more of her work in the future.

Taryn is a 21 year old country music star. She's been in the music business since her teens and her mother is her manager. Her mother is a real witch (but substitute a B for the W) and not what anyone would call a good mother as she seems to use Taryn mostly as a meal ticket and treats her with little kindness and no love. Taryn's dad is a good man and she loves him a lot. He has a ranch back home in Texas which she goes to visit him at whenever she can fit it in to her busy schedule.

Trace is a rapper from Chicago. His parents died when he was a kid and he ended up staying with his uncle and his cousin Dre. His uncle was a drunk and drug addict and Trace and Dre didn't have a good life. They did share a love for music though and it helped them stay out of gangs and trouble as they were growing up. Trace ended up becoming a rap star (with Dre as his mixer) but Trace has always felt something was missing and just takes advantage of what pleasure he can get out of life.

The story begins at an awards show. Trace beats Taryn out for an award and there's an exchange between them that brings up an attraction between them. Taryn isn't too thrilled with Trace or his attitude when she first meets him but sees signs that maybe he's not as bad as his "image" represents. The night of the award show Trace gets in to some trouble and the record label decides that it would help his image to do a collaboration song with Taryn (who has been dubbed "America's sweetheart"). Neither are thrilled to be pushed in to the situation by their record label but they soon realize they work well together and get the song recorded quickly. Trace gets Taryn's cell number and they start chatting back and forth. They both end up on their respective tours and don't see each other for months but they do end up texting back and forth and calling each other as well. They become friends but neither is completely sure if the other feels the same attraction between them. At least until the time comes for them to record the music video for their song.

When Taryn and Trace finally get face to face again the attraction is steaming between them. Their collaboration song is a love song about opposites attracting so the video shoot consists of some kissing and petting which just spikes up the feelings between them. Taryn's mother sees this and freaks, not wanting anything that might cause issues for Taryn's career. Regardless of her mother's freak out, Taryn wants to see Trace at a time when they can be alone and he's right there with her. They manage to sneak in a great date and they have fun but it doesn't go any further that night. It's not long before they end up in bed together though and man are they hot together. Of course the paparazzi get some pics of them together and their relationship gets blasted across all the tabloids and magazines. They decide to face it together and not try to hide things but it's not easy for them. They both have to go back out on tour and don't get to see each other hardly at all. The news and tabloids print lies about them both that forces them to learn to trust each other if they're going to have any chance of making things work. Trace tries to stay away from all the parties and groupies he's usually surrounded with and Taryn has to deal with her mother and a friend that wants to be a boyfriend and doesn't make it easy for her to keep him at a distance. Trace and Taryn go through multiple instances of drama and have to fight to stay together but they do and that is the important part. I really loved seeing them work things out together and not letting others dictate their actions or affect their feels for each other. The drama is dealt with though and overall things work out well in the end and I loved seeing them begin their HEA.

I found this to be a really enjoyable story. I loved both Taryn and Trace and felt for them as they attempted to get past what people expected or wanted from them to be able to be together. Their relationship was sweet and hot and I really liked reading their story. It kept me engrossed throughout and I liked it enough that I'm sure I'll be rereading it in the future. I'd recommend this book. 2 thumbs up! :D

This one immediately appealed to me when I saw the cover. A Rapper and a Country music princess. Interesting. Can the authors pull it off? I think they ALMOST did. I probably gave a few extra points for the unique story line. It wasn't perfect, but I did enjoy it and wish there were more stories like this out there.

What stood out for me in this one:
1 -- The cover. Immediate grab for me. I love a bi-racial tale and this one had it in spades. I think the authors were very respective of cultural differences and used this in developing the story and the relationship between Trace and Taryn.

2 -- I really liked Trace. He was believable. However, I wasn't sure why he had the secret he did -- why was it a secret? That part of the story was a tough sell for me, but oh, well... Taryn was good. She didn't annoy me. She came across a bit too sweet for me, but she had an alter ego that I warmed up to - even though this one wasn't all together believable either.

A negative now ... Saying all this, the characters didn't pull me. They intrigued me, but I wasn't pulled into their stories or the emotion their story was trying to pull. Neither of them. I think we spent quite a bit of time on developing the "plot" and not as much on character development. I think I finished this one because of the topic, the bi-racial relationship, not really because of premium character development or some sense of investment in them.

3 -- The portrayal of the music industry. Even though it wasn't terribly detailed, I think it was a fair representation of both styles of music; both styles of music artistry.

Okay, now for those things that could have been better:
1 -- When I am not pulled by a story or its' characters I always wonder why. Maybe not always but at least when I think there was potential. What could have made this one a 5 Star read for me? I think it is all in the details -- the right kind of detail. Give me a glimpse of the pain the girl went through, don't just tell me about it. Give me a bit of that little boy who lost so much, don't tell me about it. Show me this lost little boy in this man -- don't give me pseudo gangster and then want me to give a shit. Oh, it's okay because of what he's overcome when we don't feel or really see any of this. Know?

2 -- I think this one could have been a bit longer to include all the things necessary to make this one a 5 Star read. Not sure if the authors have the chops to do it, but if so, then they'd probably need a few more pages. It would be quite okay because the story would be one of those that you remember for always, if this was the case. Can you tell I'm a bit disappointed?

3 -- This is a first time author for me and I thought the price asked was a bit more than I'd normally pay. Now that I've read the book, I still feel this way. You think $3 isn't bad or much? I would agree. However, we all know that some really good books are $1. So, in comparison ...? Another thing to note, from me, as the reader. When I find a story that really engaged me, I'm going back to that author until I've read EVERY BLESSED BOOK they've ever written. EVERY One. I'm not looking for others by this author team. This one I enjoyed because of the unique theme. I've looked at others and they don't have this, so I'll pass.

All this to say, I did enjoy this one. I liked the whole backstory; country princess and the big bad rapper. It worked, but could have been SO MUCH BETTER [I can keep saying this because it is my opinion; my review!!]. It had that kind of potential. Now that they've done it, I bet we see more of it from other authors and I'm anxious to see if someone can KNOCK THIS OUT'THE PARK!

I hope you give this one a shot. It may work for you, like it did me.

Happy Reading!!

Wow! 5 knock your socks off romantic stars!
I had the pleasure of beta-reading for this wonderful unique romance. It's a bit of a clash of the worlds that come together... pretty young country starlet falls in love with the hot bad-ass rapper. They come together when executives have them collaborating on a song, not only is the song an instant hit so is their attraction. The beginning is a bit of a gradual build up of learning about Trace and Tarryn's lives. BUT once they come together sparks fly (and yes, I'm quoting a bit of Taylor Swift, ha!) There's just enough of conflict, angst and challenges for the opposite attracted couple to face.
The ending is superb! Oh how I love this ending... swoon, hot flash, heart palpitations... breath in and out, in and out... It's perfect!
This is Michelle Lynn's first collaborated book and you get to experience all the wonderful creative chemistry that her fans adore in this new novel. Neveah's writing is just as wonderful and blends perfectly.

Not my cup of tea. I didn't particularly like how Trace represented black people as a whole. When it was his POV all of the words were spelled correctly, but when his dialogue came in he's all "aight and yo dawg" and all that crap. I really hate when black people are seen as dumb and ghetto like Stella. I'm black and I have yet to see anyone in my family greet people with sugar pie honey bunch chile. what the heck? This is the main reason I stopped reading House of Night Kramisha is the most ghetto illiterate character I have ever read and the black people in this book aren't far behind

Where do I start? This book was so completely not what I expected. This book was so much better than I could have imagined!!!
If you are thinking this is going to be you typical famous person/rock star book
I was pleasntly surprised when it wasn't.

First of all you have Taryn (Taralyn) Starr, she is a sweet, innocent girl from Texas. She is "America's Sweet Heart", an image her mom/manger pushes down everyone's throats (she makes you think of Kris Jenner...yuck). Taryn just wants to be herself. An normal girl from Texas who loves to make music.

Then there is Trace. Yep, he goes by one name. He is a hot rap star. Winning Grammy awards, getting all sorts of trouble, partying, women.. you name it.
Trace portrays himself as a tough guy, needing no one. He has his group of friends he considers family.

So when the record company think Trace needs his image cleaned up/worked on a little, they want him to do a collaboration with America's Sweetheart!! There is nothing better than getting some good free publicity. Two of the biggest names in music working together for a new song! Their collaboration is going to be a huge success. Everyone can see that! Although that does not mean that Trace and Taryn are happy about it.

When the 2 of them are made to work together, not only do they make beautiful music, they also start to see the other for more than their public persona. Trace and Taryn get to know and see the real person the other can be. Sparks fly. Their relationship develops. They start off as friends. There are texting and calls.

Things get steamy when Trace and Taryn make their music video together. All their built up feeling and emotions are set loose. It get hot and steamy real quick. From that moment on, the book takes turn into the life life of 2 famous people.

There seems to be many factors trying to keep these two apart. If you are thinking that race comes into play, you are 100% ......wrong. The authors are brilliant in not making their races an issue. The real issues are what we all seem to feel at one
point in our lives. Insecurity, rumors, trust, and even family.

I thought this book was breathe of fresh air! If you are looking for something original, this is the book for you!

3.5 stars!

I was completely drawn to the concept of this story. Rapper and country singer?! I mean, come on. Sold! Also, I don't think there are enough books with minority heroes in mainstream romance so that alone would have made me buy the book.

I rated this book 3.5 stars (come on, Goodreads - your users want half stars!), and sometimes that means that didn't like it enough. In this case, I did enjoy the story between these characters, I just wanted more. More than just the angst and confusion. I wanted more of them together, more sweet moments, just more.

I think I liked the idea of the story more than the execution.
