I'm trying to work out if this is a rip off of True Blood or Underworld. What is it with authors these days having to pinch others ideas. The heroine, Renee is pretty cool but then turns very predictable, and the werewolve, although he sounds like he's just ditched the movie and Kate Beckinsale, sounds cute. Thats about it. so if you want to read an ok book, with ok characters and done before storylines, read this.

I find I'm writing more and more bad reviews on here. I don't understand how half these people get published. Obviously not with a big publishing house...hmmm... I wonder why.

Amazing!!! So many hot immortal males and only one lucky female. This is a quick paced, magical adventure. The author grabs you from the very first page and keeps you going beyond the end. Has a great set up for the next book without leaving a cliffhanger and many questions in this book. Renee is the chosen one to save her family line from an evil being and with the help of her father and the many trainers he has hired for her she has set out to destroy it. I thought this was a great read and was very hard to put down. Can't wait for the next in the series. *****5stars

Like the new cover. Sadly thats about it. Couldn't finish this book. Too similar to others I've read. I notice a couple of reviews have likened it to Underworld and True Blood. I have seen underworld and YES there is likeness. a lot actually. I've only seen a couple of episodes of True Blood, I do not follow it. Yet I instantly thought of it as I read this. No Originality at all I'm sorry to say.

I was enchanted by the cover of this book and couldn’t wait to start reading it. I can’t say that I haven’t read similar plot lines before, but I did find this one quite enjoyable and incredibly entertaining. This was an action-packed, exhilarating read with loads of surprising twists.

I especially liked the fast pace at which the story moved and nowhere did I get the feeling that the plot was being dragged out. All the characters were very well developed and focus was placed on the strong bonds between Renee and her parents I believe helped shape the person she became by the end of the book and which also gave her the strength and confidence to conquer the dangers she was forced to face.

What I enjoyed most about “Blood Magic” is that the main character is a powerful female lead who doesn’t need men to fight her battles for her. With her magic and fighting skills she is a force to be reckoned with, yet she also has a vulnerable side to her that invokes empathy from the reader. Her courage, tenacity and strong morals make her a character to be admired. But at the same time, I also felt that she needed to lighten up, get a sense of humor and stop behaving like a brat.

Tons of good and evil supernatural entities are introduced throughout the book, and the suspense keeps building to breaking point as Renee faces off against one malevolent character after another. A good balance was brought to these characters with the Mystics, whom I simultaneously liked and disliked. My absolute favorite character of course was Tristan. I just adored his sense of humor and sarcasm!

“Blood Magic” is the first book in a fabulous new series which promises its readers hours of undiluted reading bliss. The superb writing, magnificent characters and heart-stopping action will have you battling to hold on to the edge of your seat as this book takes your imagination to new dimensions, and which makes it a definite 4 star must-read!

*Contains some spoilers

Blood Magic is the first book in The Draven Witch series by Zoey and Luna Sweete. It's about a girl named Renee who is half vampire, half witch. She must kill Damaskeos, the evil vampire that has killed all her ancestors, before he kills her first.

This book is a fast paced, action packed book. A lot of scenes actually happened too quickly without enough detail. To me, the writing was a little odd. Something just seemed off, which is probably the result of 2 people writing it. The characters were great. Renee is a great heroine who doesn't back down from a fight.

There were many possible love interests in this book. It just seemed like every man she met wanted her, and that was a little annoying to me. She went from someone who has never even been kissed, to someone who has a flock of men around her every minute of the day. Tristan was my favorite and they seemed to be falling in love. When Tristan found out that he couldn't be with her, Renee was over it in a minute and moved on to the next guy.

I hate writing negative reviews, but I'm not going to lie about how I feel. It wasn't an awful book, it was just 'ok' for me. Also, this is just my opinion. Other people really liked it and have given it 5 stars. There are a lot of various paranormal creatures in this book, so if you are a paranormal lover you might give it a try.

5 out of 5 stars!!!
Renee Draven is a hybrid, a witch and a vampire… but the first ever Vampire Dante Angelo has to bite her for her Vampire side to awaken.
Renee Draven great grandmother Annabelle Draven has spoken of Renee before she was even thought of, the prophecy was told that Renee will end Damaskeos, a Vampire that has killed Renee Draven’s witch bloodline. He would drain the blood from the female witches and gain their powers. When Renee turns 21 years old, is when Dante will awaken her Vampire side.
Will Renee kill Damaskeos or will he end her life like he did to her bloodline?
You’ll just have to read it!

When I received this book in return for a review from the author, Zoey Sweete it came to me in a PDF format and I was so excited to read it I dove right into it and we all know I love anything to do with vampires and witches. I was excited to read it because it didn't seem like it was going to be just another vampire book, it really peeked my interest when the main character was half vampire half witch. I asked my self "how can this be, I was always under the belief that vamps and witches hated each other", and so I began my journey into The Draven Witch Series.

Rene has been sheltered for the past 20-years, living with the Mystic's, but with good reason, she is considered "the special one", the one the prophecies say she will be the one to defeat Damaskeos and finally restore her family's honor. Being half witch and half vampire, when she turns 21 she will be bitten and her vampire side will be awakened and give her powers beyond any of the Draven Witches, even her mother. So to keep her safe she has lived with on the Mystic Realm but now that she is close to her 21st birthday it is time for her to return to Earth and try to do what she wants the most.....live a normal life, impossible as when everytime she turns around she is being attacked even in her sleep she can't stop being attacked.

Things turn interesting when Rene meets her trainer, Devin, *drooling* things get too hot between them and Dad puts a stop to their training, Devin's replacement comes and the hotter then hell Tristian *drooling more*, and it gets even more interesting when William and Dante show up on the scene, *drooling even more*. I can't say anymore I don't dare spoil it for you.

Starting the book, it didn't take long for it to suck me in and keep me there until I finished the very last page, all my instincts about this going to be a good book were right, but it just wasn't good it was FANTASTIC. Zoey really set this series up with a huge bang. Rene was a very strong character for me which I love, it really gets on my nerves when a main character is flighty, can't make up their mind or make a decision, or worse whiny to the point I want to put the book away for a bit, yes Rene does whine in some spots but wouldn't you if someone is trying to kill you in your sleep, your burdened with the responsibility of being the one to kill this so called unstoppable beast and you have 4 men who you have feelings for and just can't seem to decide which one to choose because you have feelings for them all and don't want to hurt any of them, and all you really want is just a normal average life, yup I'd certainly whine sometimes too, but Rene is also a no nonsense put her cards on the table, let's get the job done gal, and I loved that about her, but she was also soft, caring and very protective of her family and friends. Just an all around great main character.

If you like being on a roller coaster ride then start reading this book, it will take you on a massive emotional ride you won't soon forget. A cast of incredible characters, plot and story executed beautifully. When I read the pdf file I loved it, when Zoey sent me the revised autographed hard copy I read it again and loved it even more with the new changes that were made, you see the growth within the writing it was wonderful. The emotions I went through while reading were exactally what I like when reading a really great book.

If you are looking for an absolutely fantastic series this is the book you need to pick up and start reading, I can tell you it is one you will not be able to put down until your done. I hope you all enjoy it as much as I did!! Enjoy everyone.

I received this book in return for an honest review and would like to thank the Miss Sweete for such a wonderful gift.

Blood Magic is the first in the Draven Witch Series, and a great one at that. The story itself was awesome. Every page you find something more, and the beings in the book are really very interesting. There is history well placed, passion well executed, and the dialogue was great.

We start the story with Renee, a young woman that has lived her entire existence on an alternate plane called Aureus, a mystical and beautiful land, but a prison all the same. Being the one prophesied about for centuries to end the rein of the Evil One, Renee has been sheltered and protected since her very first breath. But the Mystics can't keep her within their magical world any longer, for Renee is much more than just a powerful Draven Witch, she is half vampire, and within months her Awakening will begin.

Renee finds passion, fear, strength, and friendship through her journey in this story. Being the destined hero, she is placed in constant protection, and the fact that her father, Thomas, is one of the first three vampires ever turned, just makes her all the more coddled, which just pisses her off. She has a spit fire attitude, a need to prove herself, and the hard head of both her powerful mother and father. Which makes for a couple intersting situations.

One of my favorite characters in this book is Tristan. A gorgeous, bald, ripped and tattooed Demon Hunter with swirling blue and silver eyes, he has the ultimate bad boy persona that makes every woman take a second look and a deeper breath. He is sarcastic, gentlemanly, protective and says the funniest things to beings most would run from, you just have to love him. Though he wasn't the male that was Renee's True One, I'm am hoping to see much more of our biker bad ass in future books.

I really REALLY enjoyed this book, but there were many things I thought needed work. One, I found numerous gramatical errors throughout the story, but have noticed that with most of the books I have reviewed recently it is the same way, if not as much. And two, the world building was very lacking. There wasn't really one time that I could 'See' what Renee saw, or feel what she felt, and that is one aspect that I really look forward too. But, even with those little errors, I still really loved the story and would definitely recommend it.

This was a very good, edge of your seat, nail biter. The story is about a young girl named Renee Draven. She is half witch, half vampire. She is believed to be the only one who can destroy Damaskeos, the vampire that has killed every woman in her family but her and her mother. He drains them of their powers and takes in their powers. Her great grandmother Annabelle foresees her as being the one to save the Draven bloodline. Before Renee's 21st birthday, she goes into training to learn to fight Damaskeos so she is ready for him. She finds out many things and is having a hard time absorbing all of the information. The one thing she is having the hardest time with is true ones because she feels she should be able to choose her one true love and prophecy foresees her as being Dante's true one. Dante is the one who will awaken her vampire side on her 21st birthday. She then meets William, Dante's brother and has a hard time choosing between the two because they are twins which means their blood is the same so she becomes confused about who to be with and her learns that her heart will tell her who her true one is. Near the beginning of the story Renee meets an innocent named Jenny who is very much into witchcraft so Renee feels she's safe to be herself around her. Every man in Renee's life doesn't like Jenny and keeps telling Renee that something is off about her but she thinks is everyone being overprotective because Jenny is a mortal, or so she thinks. Renee eventually finds out by Annabelle's journals that Damaskeos isn't the only one she is suppose to destroy. There are also the demon siblings Blythe and her brother Likia. Likia steals Renee's amulet so she is no longer protected from Damaskeos finding her wherever she is at. Now Renee must free the werelion, find the ferrum (it's the only way to kill Blythe), kill the demons and destroy Damaskeos. At the end of the book she doesn't only destroy Damaskeos but she sends him to a fiery hell where she thinks she will no longer hear from him but she is wrong. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and can't wait to start Book 2, Blood Vengeance. For anyone who has not read this series yet, I seriously recommend it. It will definitely keep you on the edge of your seat and turning the pages just to see what happens next.

Blood magic was a very good and exciting story of a girl named Renee Draven. She is a witch that was born with special powers and some of the powers need to be awakened. She is a typical young woman with special powers and as a young woman, she wants to do her own thing and explore her boundaries and of course doesn’t want her parents telling her what is best for her. The story is very funny with sad moments and riveting moments of excitement. You never know what is going to happen next. She has men chasing her that want to kill her some that want to love her and others just to admire her.
I can see the story going in different directions on which way the writer wants to write the next book. She is in love with William but yet she has a pull towards Dante. I can see the story turning to where William and Dante in up falling in love with her and her in love with both of them and becoming a ménage and with having two men as her mates it will help to defeat Damaskeos. I can see Tristan being a major character. I can see where he leaves and goes off and possibly finds another Draven witch, bringing her back to meet Renee which in turns to a missing piece that Renee has always felt like she had missing in her life. I think this person will also be needed to defeat Damaskeos as well.
The story was very riveting and kept me reading. I didn’t want to put the book down. I am ready to read what happens next in Renee’s adventures and her life. I have read several books and sometimes books seem to tell the same story but with different characters and you can anticipate on what will happen next. Blood Magic was a unique story that I have not heard of before and that was very refreshing. Anyone that wants to enjoy a storyline should read Blood Magic. I’m sure you will enjoy it as much as I did. Zoey Sweete you outdid yourself!! Great Book!

Having had this book on my Kindle for quite some time, I decided to read it this weekend.

I must say at first I was upset the cover had changed. The one I have here is much more original and eye catching. However, I'm sorry to say that no matter what was on the cover, no matter how beautiful or eye catching it may be, it masks a very poorly written, poorly edited story.

Blood Magic tells the story of Renee Draven, a witch who with a destiny which includes becoming a witch/vampire hybrid, and destroying the enemy of her and her ancestors, Demaskeos.

The story had potential, but the author seemed to steal ideas from other books I've read and films I've seen rather than use her own imagination. Renee Draven is instantly unlikeable, and yet she is supposed the be our heroine. I wanted her to be killed off after the first two chapters. Incredibly annoying brat.

The other characters are two dimension and the story seems to revolve more around sex than anything else. Maybe her destiny is to also have as much vulgarly written sex as possible. If those scenes are meant to "turn the reader on" I'm afraid it doesn't work. I think the only character I did "sort of" like, was Tristan. I think its possibly because he's British and I'm patriotic. But even he was an annoying, two dimensional moron with and unhealthy obsession with a control freak...Renee.

I must say I am tempted to buy the second in the series just to see if this writer has improved any. I sincerely hope she has been to a decent editor.

This is the worst review I've written on here, and it saddens me to do so. However I believe honesty is the best policy.

Others may feel differently, and I would not discourage others from reading them. Everyone likes different things. But for me, the book is as dull, badly written, rushed at times, has no passion in its pages and has horrible characters.

I was given this book in return for an honest review. Renee Draven is the last of the Draven bloodline, her mother's powers are no longer very strong. Renee is also 1/2 vampire, the powers of which will be awakened by Dante, her father's creator, if they can find him. He has been gone since his brother was sent to Tarrak through a portal over 100 years ago. Renee was raised and constantly guarded in Aeureus dimension to keep her safe from the man in her dreams/premonitions, Damaskeos. He has hunted and killed all of her female ancestors so that he could absorb their powers. It is time for her to go live with her father and learn how to defend herself as well as learning her vampire ancestry. While there she is trained by several differnt people, who each seems to fall in love with her. Her magic is strong and when her vampire side is awakened, she will be stronger than any other Draven witch ever was. Until then, she wears an amulet to hide her from Damaskeos. He will be coming for her and she has to be ready. With men falling in love with her, Damaskeos hunting her even in he dreams, training, betrayel, and death surrounding her, will she have the emotional and physical strength to fight Damaskeos, or will he win yet again and finish off the last of the Draven Witches? This is not a bad book, I think maybe a few less characters to keep up with would have worked a bit better. You need to really pay attention so you don't lose track of who is who. I like the premise of a witch/vampire hybrid and the fact that the story has a lot of other supernatural creatures as well. It has a good story idea and lots of action. I think the next book will read a little better due to more experience. Going to read part 2 right now. WaAr

Renee Draven was born half witch and half vampire and was born to a prophecy, which will restore her family's name to what it once was. to do this she has to face a vampire called Damaskeos. Damaskeos is a vampire who kills the Draven witch's, when he kills them he can absorb there powers, which in turn makes him a very powerful vampire. Renee as premonitions of I'm when she sleeps, of him attacking her and taking her blood. Renne wishes she was born with a normal life, not born a witch and having to live in a place called Avreus. Where her mother could keep her safe. until the day came when she had to do battle with Dmaskeos. when the time finally came Renee went to New York modern time where her vampire father lived to learn how to use her vampire side the way she could use her witch's side. everyone hopes with the use of both sides of her family running through her veins that she can finally win the battle that has been long since coming.

Well what to say, well I really liked this book. It was really easy to read and follow and it had a really good story line. a story line that kept you wanting to read. I loved the characters in this book they really kept you interested and they are the kind of characters that you will never forget. I really think people should give this book a try. I'm sure most of you will love it. The only down side I have with this book is that it should be in paper back, but that's just me because I love paperbacks and think all books should be in that format.

I received this book to give an honest review.
I really enjoyed this book more than I thought I would. You have Renee who has been in hiding pretty much until it is time for her to come into the mortal world and defend her bloodline. Renee isn't your normal witch, she is a hybrid which is pretty bad ass all in itself. She is part witch and part vampire. But her vampire side isn't fully awaken yet and that is when Dante comes into play.
Now I had a problem with Renee opening her legs at such a quick time. We watch her transform into this bad-ass chick, but at the same time as soon as she comes into the mortal world and sees a really hot guy named Tristan she ends up sleeping with him. I was like wow really girl? I mean she seem to have more lust in her eyes than anything. With that being said, there were also grammar mistakes that should have been caught through out the story line as they were easy to see.

Other than those two little things that bothered me. The story line is a great one and had me wanting to read more and more of Renee's destiny. She is a bit mouthy and doesn't think of what her actions will do. I enjoyed how the magical world is on the true love thing. And the magic that Renee has within her is WOW! She is one powerful chick that Damaskeos really shouldn't be messing with but will he learn his lesson?

If you are looking for a powerful magic story with a female character who doesn't take much crap from anyone and has a destiny to fulfill I suggest you get your copy.

Blood Magic, the first in the Draven Witch Series, is one of those books that has it all: vampires, demons, shifters, witches—you name it, it’s got it. Filled with an incredible cast of characters, all well written and highly developed, this book keeps you locked in until the very end. Written by a two-person writing team, Zoey Sweete, the book flows easily and there is never a point where it seems two people wrote the book.

While I loved every single character, there was so much going on in this book that many of the scenes were unfortunately very quick, whether it was the sex scenes or fights. I would’ve liked to see more anticipation of coming events and more time after the climax (no pun intended) before racing to the next scene. Despite the lack of prescience the story was still quite exhilarating.

You’re taken on a wild ride through different dimensions alongside one kick-ass heroine, Renee Draven, as she faces one challenge after another. When she’s not fighting for her life against the evil Damaskeos, she’s fighting her band of supernatural alpha hotties for her heart. I can’t wait to find out what’s next for Renee!

Blood Magic is a 5 star must-read and will undoubtedly become a favorite among paranormal/urban fantasy lovers. Fans of Laurell K. Hamilton, Keri Arthur, and Sunny should make this the next book to read. With the amount of fabulous characters and enormous challenges Renee Draven is going to face, this series has the potential to be epic!

Blood Magic is an interesting, action packed story that is fast paced excitement and adventure from start to finish.
It is a story of personal discovery, first time love, and imminent doom.

Full of all my favourite supernatural elements like witches, vamps and were’s; Blood Magic has something for everyone.

The main character Renee has a lot going on in her life.
She’s about to turn 21, she’s never been so much as kissed and the fate of the entire world weighs heavily on her shoulders.
Renee really comes into herself.
She discovers her sexuality, meeting more than one hot guy to spark her interest. And with plenty of hunky trainers at the ready she excels in fighting, and with an added kick from her magic, becomes a force to be reckoned with.

I really enjoyed this story.
It was full of sexy supe’s, witty retort and a kiss arse heroine.
For first time author's, Zoey and Luna Sweete have done an excellent job of melding their individual voices into a coherent and unique writing style that I'm sure will continue to excite me as The Draven Witch Series progresses.

Blood Magic is a must read for all fans of supernatural romance, and definitely a great place to start if this genre is new to you.

I can’t wait for the next instalment to see what’s in store for Renee and her merry band of gorgeous men!

A fantastic 4 Star read :]

How would you feel knowing that you are half vampire half witch who has been living in another realm training your whole life for something big but yet never enjoyed the simply things in life like Italian food or boys? Knowing youre destined to slay a creature simply known as the Winged One but also hunted for you power by another? Renee Draven knows that feeling and now so I do thanks to Blood Magic.

Follow along with Renee as she transitions her life from Aureus, a realm where mystical creatures live in harmony and time moves faster, to the Mortal realm. Her parents feel that Renee is ready to live in New York and awaken her vampire side to strengthen her powers. Along the way, Renee saves a human girl named Jenny from a group of rogue vampires, frees and falls in love with a werewolf named William. I'd say more but then that would ruin all the fun of you finding out for yourself.

I gave Blood Magic 4 stars because it was a lil slow for me at times but picked up speed towards the end. Zoey did an excellent job of creating witty smart ass characters like Renee and Tristan and loving characters like William and Dante. Even Damaskeos is like-able. I can't wait to read Blood Vengeance!

I can’t say enough about this book, I loved it, I have been looking for another good witch book for a while and I found it! Zoey Sweete Did a wonderful job writing this book, it really has everything in it vampires, demons, shifters and witches you name it, it’s got it. Blood Magic had me captivated from Chapter 1, it’s a fast paced read from start to finish that will leave you wanting the next book!

Renee Draven is half witch and half vampire; she is the last of the Draven witch bloodline. She’s about to turn 21, has never been on a real date much less been kissed. But she is hell bent on saving her friends and loved ones from Damaskeos, the evil who has stolen the power of her ancestors for centuries. Renee has been told by her parents that she is to meet Dante Angelo, but no one can find him, He’s the one who is supposed to awaken her. But the clock is ticking away and she has these nightmares every night along with Damaskeos attacking her. Will She live to see her awaking and to find out who her one true one is? Or will Damaskeos win?

Blood Magic, the first book in Zoey Sweete's Draven Witch series, is an appealing paranormal story, in which the reader finds witch/vampire hybrid Renee Draven hunted by Damaskeos, an Original vampire .
Zoey Sweete uses this first installment to document the history between the Draven witch family and the evil Damaskeos, allowing the reader to understand the power held by Renee and preparing us for the mental and physical battles ahead.
Blood Magic has relentless pace, compelling the reader to continue with the book until it's end. Although Renee isn't the most like-able heroine she does know how to kick-ass using her advancing magical skill.
Renee's love life is complicated, torn between demon-hunter Tristan, werewolf William and Dante, the vampire meant to bite her and awaken her blood-drinking side. These three men are all strong, protective and powerful but ultimately Renee's mate will be chosen by the blood bond.
I enjoyed the story, it's action and mix of paranormal characters and think Zoey Sweete's accessible writing will suit many readers.

An amazing read. I love the storyline and the speed in which the book flowed was perfect. Zoey Sweete book Blood Magic was captivating and magical.

Renee Draven is a 20 year old girl who is half witch, half vampire and lives in the dimensions of Aureus on the mystic plains. she lives there for her safety while her mother teaches her magic. Soon she will be going back to the mortal realm. Foretold in the prophecy she is the only one who can defeat Damaske.Soon on Renee's 21st birthday Dante Angelo will perform ritual to awaken her vampire half. Who is Renee's chosen one is it William or will it be Dante?

Witches, werewolves and vampires make this story so very interesting. A half witch half human with vampire is what this is about. Renee is to have her vampire side awakened on her birthday but trying to stay alive is getting harder. The evil power hungry vampire Damaskeos has been killing her family for centuries is waiting for her. It was prophesied that she would be the strongest witch and would kill him. This has action, intrigue, love and sex. I really enjoyed reading this book and have gotten the next one to see what happens next. I couldn't put in down once I started reading it. Zoey did a wonderful job of tying all the characters together and keeping their stories separate.

I loved it! It was a fabulous paranormal read!! It had so much action in it too some books have too much down time for me not this book. It was face passed action filled! Loved it. The few down times were yummy!! It's a fabulous beginning to what I know is going to be a great series!! Then ending was just enough of a cliffhanger to have me needing the next one.
It has vampires, werewolves, were lions, Valkyrie, demon, demon hunters, and the vamp/witch hybrid who has had enough!! I can't wait to read the next book in this series!!

This is awesome read by Zoey Sweete as we follow Renee Craven as she prepares herself to waken the blood in herself to face the ultimate evil. She wants a normal life but will the duty she feels win over? Will the faith in her that her family has in her help? This a most read that will keep you captive in it's pages as you are transferred into the story. I can't wait for book 2 to come out and to continue the series. If you haven't read this book then you really need to that is my thought..

I was gifted a copy of this book by the author. This book was amazing! A witch vampire on a quest to save the world. I truly enjoyed her escapades while searching for her true love and mate. Can't wait for more!

i was given this book as a gift for an honest review ~waAr~

this book does have a lot of editing errors in it, but are easily over looked when you start reading and getting into the story line which is amazing. a few squirm worthy scenes help the book.

i cant wait to read part 2. Awesome job!

I liked the story a lot. Just wish there wasn't any swearing or sex in it.
