Jonnae is tired, tired of her trifling dude Chink and tired of her chaotic home life. The chance meeting of Capo turns things from upside down to good all around. Take a ride with Jonnae as she realizes your first love isn't always real love and that hood love can be a good love.
I enjoyed this first read by Leondra. I can't wait until part 2 to see what happens next. I was so glad that Jonnae realized that she was stronger and worth more than Chink treated her. I think that Capo was the best one for her, and she definitely has some growing to do. I believe she made some stupid, immature decision regard Chink and she should have realized that when someone's feeling are strong for you, they will do anything to jeopardize your happy relationship...Cause Chink most definitely wants his cake and ice cream!
I said all that i had to on amazon This is and great book for a first time authore with so much on her plate and the fact that the book starts with the main character being a freshman in high school.
Hood Love is an awesome tale of love, betrayal, heartache and abuse. The main character Jonnae is a sweetheart. I felt every emotion, during all the things she encountered in the book. I was shedding tears, and that doesn't usually happen while reading. Watching movies yes, but not a book. The special bond between her and her brother is so touching, loving and genuine that it made me cherish having a brother. My brother and I share a similar bond. I could personally relate to this story because I am happily married to my high school sweetheart. Although our story isn't anywhere close to Jonnae's, Chink's or Capo's, we shared our ups and downs. I have the same best friend since the seventh grade and I couldn't imagine going through what Jonnae and Shakeisha went through. I hope that it all turns out well between Jonnae and her mom too. There is no greater love than of a mother and child. I won't give any spoilers, but this book is a page turner. I read it in three hours. I am so excited to see what happens next. If you are looking for a good story, Hood Love is an awesome choice. You won't be disappointed. Great read!!!
Really enjoyed this book. Jonae and Chink were young and the drama they were going through was not even worth fighting for with them being so young. I thought Jonae was a fool for the whole can I call you back to Lena crap. The fact that her mother allows Chink to even stay over is a sign of bs on the mothers part. Again with the "friends" getting with you're man situation but I guess it'll work every time. Jonae's relationship with Capo was good, the two really seemed to enjoy each other and took their time before making it official.
Even with all the errors in the writing and editing this was still a good story once you gave it a chance. I'll be following along with this one to see what's the deal with the ending.
I enjoyed "Hood Love" because it took me back to my high school and early college relationship years. I enjoyed reading about the whirlwind romance of young characters. Jonnae reminded me of a typical naive teenager who thought that she knew everything about love and life. The relationships between both her and Chink and her and Capo was definitely what you would call Hood Love. There were a few editing issues and I felt as if the story ended abruptly but I'm excited to find out what the future holds for these young people in love.
TRZ Challenge I was hooked from the very first chapter. Jonnae went through so much in her life to say she was only 18 years old. Her and Chink relationship was always rocky but a messy female, and walking in on the two people she loved the most destroyed that. Capo has been through a lot in his life and Jonnae is just the girl he needs, even through all of their ups and downs they still have love for each other. I can't wait for part 2. #TeamJonnaeandCapo
What horrific things happened to Jannae at such a young age. But she is a true fighter. Just the thought of someone rapping my daughter and being the Mom who turns my back on my child is just ludicrous. You feel me. Hoping I can stomach what comes next in book 2. Girl, Leondra I am in my feelings reading your story.
This chick been through it all, she was raped as a young girl, then she fell in love and was with her boo for three years ,after she had enough of his cheating she breaks up with him she finds out he was cheating with her best friend, then her mother starts. Using drugs and her moms boyfriend rapes her, now she finally found love and messes it up by lying,
Read both books in 2 days on my Kindle ! Loved them both. I was so glad to finally see a happy ending -- curious to see what the author is gonna do with the characters though. Is she gonna go for a 3rd book, let that be the end or what ? :)
Good for a first book in the series. Only thing I didn't like was the pace of this book, it only covered a year so it's moving pretty slow, but the characters are interesting, but it's more of a LOVE story then a hood book.
This is my first read by this author. I must say that I definitely enjoyed it. It held my attention from beginning to end. I started reading and didn't stop until I finished. Great read. Good job Leondra
I really enjoyed this book and I recommend it to anyone looking for a good love story. I wish I would've read it when it was first recommended to me. On to the second one!
Very good book Leondra does a very good job with the flow of this book. The hood love is real. I really liked this book and I've purchased the other two so on to book 2.
I read a lot of urban books and mostly it's about drugs , sex and lies . Call it a cliche' but it's how you deliver your storyline that sets you apart .
