Useful, but don't expect too much.
Especially if you've already invested some time how to write better or if you are dealing with online marketing.

Although some of the content is a bit dated considering the time I am reviewing the book Vs the time it was originally published - the content certainly was good for its time and still applicable today - as good copywriting principles always stand the test of time - which this book certainly contains so definitely a worthy read for any copywriter and online marketer

I nearly quit on the grandiose beginnings of this book ("you have to promise not to use what I'll teach you for evil" and the usual subtext of books like this "I'm going to make you rich" are a bit more over than others).

Some of the talk at the beginning of the book about giant sales letters seemed a bit dated, but I realized that the current fad of 3-part videos are really just giant sales letters in a different form.

If you scrub those parts away, I found this to be a pretty solid reference book that I could probably use on my shelf. Having a little trouble writing a headline? Go to the headline chapter which is full of good examples and ideas to get you past a block. Getting ready to run a Facebook ad? Go through the checkpoints on what to do with a PPC ad to make sure you're not missing anything.

I haven't finished this book yet - not sure if I will. For the most part, I found it uninspiring.

The exception is the chapter on headlines, which is instructive and practical.

Less instructive is the chapter on email; the writer is a proponent of the long-form text-only marketing email, which I cannot abide. I hate getting these, I don't read them, and I cannot understand the fascination with multiple text paragraphs in my inbox.

I can't imagine myself using his style. I could see it being necessary for advertising, but I'm in sales. I'm in it for the long run and I don't see how his style would build long term relationships.

I will use some stuff from his book, but not much.
