Ouch, messy timeline. Here Bryce sees Daxton for the first time only after Archie and Magnus are apparently already pretty close. Yeah, this does not add up.
The writing in the first two instalments has at no point been great, but it somehow seems to fall apart here. Odd restating of things after just a sentence, and some of the thought processes are contradictory in very brief amounts of time.
The amount of regular words and phrases Daxton does not seem to know conflicts with the ones he easily uses. Moreover, in the previous books his brothers had no issue with these. I know language is largely unexplained here, but it sticks out when he once again wonders whatever Bryce might mean. I mean expressions such as breakfast and lunch are alien to Daxton, but apartment is a-ok.
We get something of a repeat of that scene the second book smuggled in – the one that begins the improvement for the main couple here.
To be honest, Daxton’s way of handling Bryce is not at all what I expected (and hoped for). To me he comes across as incredibly pushy and touchy-feely. Overwhelming. All of those are dangerous behaviours when dealing with a traumatized victim of assault. I mean even just from the bit of description we got of what happened to Bryce, Daxton behaves remarkably similar. Oh, no attempted rape, of course, but what is Bryce thinking by inviting a guy he has only just met up to his apartment? Again, after the disastrous last time. Makes no sense at all, bond or no bond. I’m thinking the author had a good basic idea for the issues in this pairing, but the execution feels as though she did not actually think much about it, but merely used it as a light flavouring.
The funny (or sad) thing with many of these romances (and this series in particular) is how the protagonists almost never stop to consider that their partner is still in the wooing stage of the relationship when they commit to eternity together. Sure, the guy has been wonderful so far, but what changes might occur once the honeymoon phase ends? I am not saying it will necessarily be bad. Just that the argument of “you will be a wonderful father because you have shown me great kindness in the two days (or technically few hours) you’ve spent wooing me” seems incredibly invalid to me. Mind you, in this particular series the honeymoon never ever ends. Also, there are only people filled with great goodness and people who are plain evil. Anyone else is mind-controlled to do bad deeds and will probably revert to pure goodness once that is dealt with.
Seriously, though. suffered a huge character change between books. I mean, it makes for a good story and actual tension (!) But it also leaves me confused and disoriented.
Also, why is there a woman? Aren’t they supposed to be so rare that their birth is considered a miracle?
I’m not sure I really got a handle on Bryce. The switch from abused, terrified and shy to fierce, outspoken and teasing just blindsided me. And does not really mesh with what we know of his extended past anyway.
Hm. There is truly a lot I let slide in terms of romance sex. But that Daxton deepthroats Bryce while he is fucking the man? If he’s able to do this, then he’s one of the rare men who can suck themselves off. At the very least. Ugh, my back hurts trying to picture this.
Well, aside from bringing Kendrick in more than we’d seen future protagonists have impact this far, and aside from someone turning out not to be perfect after all – this book still follows pretty much the pattern I outlined during book two. Okay, so we don’t get a perfect (other) family for our heroes to help and dote on. Everything else, including the various time skips, is still precisely the same. And I think I am getting exceedingly tired now of all the protestations of love in every direction. Also, the baby production line is beginning to creep me out.
When you read one of those books you already know everything is gonna be alright. Sometimes the words the author uses are really too sweet and bore the reader(at least me), but in the end the book isnt so bad. In this 3rd story, we find Bryce and Dax. Bryce is shy and a geek and doesnt trust new ppl, he hangs out only with his old friends and this because 5 months ago he was almost raped by his date. Bryce was saved by Archer, Vance and Roger that arrived just in time to stop the man, but not before he had hit him in the stomach and face. When they meet Daxton is attracted to him, like the other man his, when they stare at each other,he understands that the geek his his mate, but at the same time he knows Bryce is scared and he wants to understand why. At this point I expected the book to go slower, bcs there was an abuse in a past experience for one of the MC, but this doesnt happen. Bryce and Daxton are not virgins, and sure as hell they are not shy when they have sex. Like all the other books, we go to the sex scene really fast. After their first time, we understand that also Dax, was "abused" by his teacher, not sexually, but when he failed a spell, Mohar used to hit him with his magic, and not knowing he was hurting the boy, that left on Dax's skin some scars. Luckily Bryce with the help of their bond is able to heal him, and from that moment on he swears he will protect Dax and the other man does the same. The book ends with Dax having their first baby, a girl, and after we see them 5 year later,we still dont know anything about the missing child, a lot of questions are left unanswered....but we know Bryce and Daxton had also a son, and soon they'll try to have another baby, bcs the mark on Dax's wrist is golden.
Well, I'm starting to think we will never know about the missing child and who is behind that....

Disclaimer – this book starts out with one of the main MC being attacked. Although the attack is stopped, I felt like I should warn people. We’ve meet Bryce in the other books but we never really got the whole story, Bryce was a shy man by nature and after his attack retreated further into his shell. Feeling more comfortable with his computers than in crowds so when he noticed a large handsome man staring at him during a softball game he freaks, no idea what to do with the feeling swirling inside his head or heart. Daxton has never felt as he belonged, like his brothers. Unlike he's brothers magic never strong enough, always needing an extra help from his mentor, Mohar. Little did Daxton know that Mohar was abusing that power? Bryce finally found the courage to believe in himself and Daxton only to have it ripped away. Can he be strong enough for the both of them? *have tissue’s ready* WOW, Bryce, WOW Daxton! Those two together, the way Bryce just wants to protect Daxton from anyone and anything, it’s magical. Especially after what’s he has been through? And the way Daxton, just simply love and adores Bryce. Will give him anything, will let him have anything. You can see the love in each other’s eyes coming right off the pages. The way Bryce just jumps in to help save the children. The way he never backs down. And the Daxton grows because of it. I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review by Crystals Many reviews
Even though I didn't enjoy the previous two stories as much as I would have liked, I'm a fan of many of the themes in this book, including mpreg and royal mating, and I love seeing an occasionally geeky protagonist in m/m romance, so I trudged through the first two entries in the series to read this one.
Unfortunately, as with the earlier books, the author's writing just doesn't work well for me. The flow and the relationships seemed too simplistic, and the plot developments often too forced. I do love the subject matter the author explored, so I hope to see more in the future, either from the same author with more polished skills, and/or others who like this very intriguing theme.
This series is fun. In this book, Daxton and Bryce are the newest couple to mate. Bryce has been the target of bullying and was attacked by a date, so he is afraid of Daxton initially. Daxton is able to show him he needn't be afraid and as each couple returns to the home planet of the Prince's, they are getting closer to those who are using magic for evil. Each human mate enhances their Mate's magic and are gifted with special abilities, as Bryce is able to protect and save his mate!
Book 3 in the series,as the stories cross timelines a little of the story repeats at times. I really enjoyed Daxton and Bryce in this one. Overall I'm enjoying this series immensely. Looking forward to the next.
