Grace is thrilled when her figure skating coach enters her in a local competition. But when she sees another skater practicing, Grace realizes she'll have some difficult competition. She psyches herself out so much that she starts messing up the moves she already knows. Can Grace remember why she loved skating before the skating showdown?
Who is Jake Maddox? Athlete, author, world-traveler–or all three? He has surfed in Hawaii, scuba-dived in Australia, and climbed the mountains of Peru and Alaska. His books range from the most popular team sports to outdoor activities to survival adventures and even to auto racing. His exploits have inspired numerous writers to walk in his footsteps–literally! Each of his stories is stamped with teamwork, fair play, and a strong sense of self-worth and discipline. Always a team-player, Maddox realizes it takes more than one man (or woman) to create a book good enough for a young reader. He hopes the lessons learned on the court, field, or arena and the champion sprinter pace of his books can motivate kids to become better athletes and lifelong readers.
I liked this book because Grace met Lauren. Grace thought she was saying that she’s better than her at skating. Then few weeks later after Grace’s practice she saw coach Roberts and Lauren and Lauren’s coach Patricia. Grace looked at Lauren to see if she’s laughing but she was encouraging then she knew that she wanted to help. Then after practice everyone was there and coach Roberts had a great idea. His idea was to let the girl do a routine together like a team.
I really liked The Skating Showdown because it shows a lot of competitivity between the 2 figure skaters. If your a person with a lot of competitivity and are athletic, then this is the book for you!!
