Non-communication, how I hate you!
Jago and Will are best friends from sixth grade, and last summer they have become even more than that, though it was never defined. Will broke up because they went to different universities, but Jago hasn’t really got over him.
Now Jago is home for the holidays, and they pick up where it was left off, but they don’t talk about it.
There was no other conflict but the lack of communication. Jago and Will were cute and hot together, but I expected more.

I loved this sweet story about two best friends, who became lovers the summer before uni, reconnecting over the winter holidays.
I could easily have read a hundred pages more about Will and Jago.
Even though this was a short story, the setting and characters, including Jago's family and Will and Jago's mates, were well developed.
There was a nice bit of tension, some sexy groping, a failed pirate costume, and the perfect beginning to a new year.
The ending left a big grin on my face. These British college boys will warm you right up any time of year.
This story is available for free download, so there's absolutely no reason not to read it.

Longtime besties Jago and Will had a summer fling but went their separate ways when they started at different uni’s.
Both return home for the holidays, and Jago wonders if Will has missed him as much as he has missed Will.
Classic Northcote that‘s easy breezy with a little sexy. A feel good holiday friends to lovers story!

As with most of my experiences with second chance romances, I always feel deprived of all the backstory, character development and first times.
In this particular case, I didn’t really feel the chemistry between the long pining MCs, so I felt a serious disconnect to my engagement with their rekindled romance.
Still, being a Northcote story, the writing is smooth and effortless, with a very (welcomed) British vibe.
At a mere 37 pages, I can’t expect too much, but this was certainly an easy way to pass 30 minutes.

This was a fabulous shortie and Jay lured me right in.
I'm a sucka for Brit boys and well done second chances...this pleasantly delivered both.
Loved the boys, loved the writing, loved the smexy.

Aww this was lovely and it was free!
Will and Jago have a holiday romance but Will breaks it off when they both move on to Uni in different cities. Jago still has feelings for the guy so when he comes home for a break and finds Will is there too, he's unsure as to how things will be when they're together again but he's happy to take anything he can from him. Its New year so will it mean new beginnings or is this just going to turn out to be another short fling?

Jago’s bedroom looked so much bigger than he remembered.
He dumped his rucksack on the floor and stood, circling slowly around as he took it in. It was all familiar; nothing had changed while he’d been away, yet it felt so strange being back after three months at Uni. The large space with its sloping, beamed ceiling was so different from the cramped, modern cube of his tiny student room back in Plymouth.
Jago grinned. It was good to be home.

I’m not big on short stories because I almost always want more. I thought this was so sweet and I did not want it to end so quickly.

"When Jago felt Will's arms around him again it felt like coming home."
It's no secret I'm a sucker for second-chance romances. All that angst that usually accompanies it... ah, what can I say, I just love it... Coming Home wasn't all that angsty -- it was more on the cute side -- but it definitely was the second time the main characters were giving their relationship a chance. This time for real.
Jago and Will were best friends from sixth-form college (whatever that means), and it was a friendship that turned into something more. Unfortunately, the summer they became more than friends was the summer before they started uni in different towns. So they made a clean break, even though Jago's heart was against that decision, and when he came back home from uni for the holidays, he was reminded just where his heart belongs, and, luckily, this time both Jago and Will are more open about their feelings...
This was such a sweet story. I wouldn't change it one bit. I do hope they make it.

What a cute story! Despite its brevity I really rooted for Jago and Will. Jago is coming home in every sense of the word - not only to the place where he lives, to his parents and friends, but to the man he's fallen in love with.

I read Nothing Serious by Jay Northcote and liked it a lot, so when I saw this cute little freebie I decided to read it.
This is a short story picking up at the Christmas holiday break when Will and Jago see each other again after having a summer affair and deciding to go their own way when they went back to their separate schools in the fall.
Now it's told completely from Jago's POV and he wasn't all that keen on going their separate ways, but Will has been his friend forever and well better to have him as a friend than lose him altogether.
Now they have a few weeks before they head off to school again....how's it going to end this time?

Today’s Life Lesson: Just because the book is free and 35 pages and you’re bored (despite having a Kindle that easily has 200+ books existing on it?) doesn’t mean we should waste time on it because we’re stupid and stubborn and prideful and apparently hellbent on showing people that mama really did raise a dumbass!
But let’s be honest. Will that stop me in the future? Nope. Do I have a handful of regrets right now? Oh boy do I and only like three of them are a direct result of reading this book but that’s for next week’s therapy session. It’s naptime now, mi amigos.
So basically, this story doesn’t really have much to it except an underdeveloped friends-to-lovers trope that happened before the book even started and is only briefly explored, more so talked about than anything, requited pining for like five pages, and erotica. It’s hollow. Extremely unsatisfying. I don’t know why I bothered thinking there would be anything of substance to 35 pages so I take the blame here, but also why.
This cup of tea is bitter and cold and not mine at all so I’m gonna dump it out in the sink unless someone else wants it because you know, different strokes for different folks and such, but *muffled into my coffee cup* yikes.

This was adorable and just what I needed to cheer me up. It's a very quick read, yet it still managed to make my heart flutter. It's just such a lovely holiday story. I only wish we could have seen more of these two. I'd pay good money for a longer story. Will and Jago are only 18, and I'd have loved to follow their story for the next few years, to see their relationship grow into something deeper and for them to get a lovely happy ending.
Really, you can't go wrong with this. Short, sweet and FREE! What's not to love?!

This was sweet. I liked how uncertain Jago was during his and Will's time together. He just went with the flow, but was freaking out on the inside. Will...I am not so sure about him. I don't know if I see him sticking around for the long haul, but I could be wrong. Maybe I think that because they are so young? I mean, they are what??? 18?
Overall, cute little story.

Cute little holiday story about 2 young lovers reuniting over Christmas break. I would have loved to have seen Jago and Will falling for each other "last summer", but this is about them making a commitment after breaking things off to attend separate colleges.
Anyway, it was sweet and free and well worth the read.

I adored Jago. It took a little bit to fall for Will. The way he hurt Jago and kept continuing to do so in the beginning made it sad. Overall it was sweet and short with some angst. My only complaint was that it was to short. It would've made a wonderful full length story.
