The Quick & Easy series features educational, value-priced books. All pet owners will benefit from reading the wide variety of titles in this series, each offering an abundance of advice in a delightfully concise format. This book focuses exclusively on crate training and provides easy-to-follow, thorough instructions on how to safely, humanely, and effectively crate train a dog.
This was indeed a quick and easy read; I finished it handily during one gym visit. Quick & Easy Crate Training was a helpful little primer on this particular aspect of puppy care. While this certainly isn't the only book you should read before bringing home Fido, I can definitely see myself referring back to it after we adopt.
I would suggest this book to new dog guardians and also those who are currently using a crate improperly; it should be a peaceful den for your pet, not a punishment or a prison. This book clearly states the difference.
I also appreciated the discussion of housetraining and a sample eat/nap/play/potty schedule for young puppies. As I am new to the canine world, these are the issues that are among the most intimidating to me.
The book itself wasn't terrible, there just wasn't much to it. I could see this book being useful if you know someone who has a dog who could benefit from crate training, but the owner thinks crate training is mean or cruel. I guess it could also be useful for someone who doesn't like to read and wouldn't end up reading a full-length book.
Strangely, the "Nylabone" company seems to have paid the author off. All of the crates in the photos are made by the Nylabone company, and Nylabone is recommended several times by name, exclusively.
I like this book because it's short, concise and accessible. This has all the ideas and tips of crate training I have learned, but it's in a nice format. I can't wait to apply these good training tips.
