I hate giving bad reviews especially on books like this. The author obviously has good motives and great ideas. Good points: The opening was strong Faith was a big part of even the first few pages
Why I didn't finish the book: While the first little bit of the story was pretty good. The quality of the book went down quickly. It became an information dump. It was poorly written, rushed, and I found myself gritting my teeth. It just wasn't worth my time to finish.
Would I try this author again? In a few years when she has had some time to really hone her craft, I have no doubt she will make a good writer. At that point in time, I will give her another try.
This author takes you full circle through the life of this young girl, weaving into the story the courage and determination that it took to endure the hardships along the road west. With many twists and turns to make for a good page turner. I'm starting the next one in the series tonight! Thank you for an excellent read!
I like how the main characters in the first book remained significant in book 2 although the story focused on a secondary character. Looking forward to the next book.
A really good Christian western with strong characters. Angela got seriously hurt early on and suffered a great deal. Many people helped her along the way. I loved how Corinne and Angela were such good friends, and thought of each other as sisters. Clive was my favorite, always helping others and treating Angela like an adopted daughter. Ted and Angela were good together, and I kept wanting them to get back together but I guess that won't happen until the next book. Great descriptions, although there were some missing or wrong words that distracted me.
I could hardly stop reading book 2! I felt as if I was living with Angela in San Francisco, and felt the love she had for the people around her!
The dreams and hopes she had for her future. The disappointment she had when her brother didn't want to see her any more, that could be another story line itself!! Is he one of the bank robbers, or is there another sinister story there. I would recommend this series to everyone!!
Angela went through a lot to get to where she is in this story. She grows in her faith as she encounters one thing after another.
I was confused a few places where extra words were in sentences that threw me and I had to re-read entire pages to realize the extra words were just that. I only paid $3.99 for the e-book so I do overlooked those mistakes.
I have already started reading Wildflowers #3. I have grown to look forward to reading the entire series.
I enjoyed the first book, but this one pulled it together for me! The first was more history with a story setting up the people we would come to know and love. For me this one flowed better. The story line more personal and heart felt. I like nothing more when I'm so wrapped up in a story that I cry and don't put it down. This one did that for me! I won't tell you what happens but I'm excited to read the next one!
This book started at around a 4 star, but jumped to a 5 about half way though and especially towards the end. The beginning seemed to be a slower start compared to the previous book, but the last half definitely made up for that! I love the nostalgia of this series... for me, it reminds me so much of Little House on the Prairie, but for an older audience. This series is quickly becoming a favorite!
Set in the old West, an Oregon Trail story. I’ve read many books on the Oregon Trail, the California Trail, etc. I’ve visited museums that tell, and show, the reality of life in those days. This book tells it like it was, it also brings out how some of the people trusted God. It shows how women weren’t regarded as highly as they are today. A woman had a hard time breaking through the ceiling of being a capable person, being a doctor, being a business person. This book dealt with women who had dreams and business aspirations. I liked the writing style. It’s not filled with suspense, it’s not a murder mystery. It’s a story telling how people live and work together, trust in God, and work toward their hopes and dreams.
You have a young woman who had already known great loss. Both Parents are gone. Send to an orphanage . sent out as a maid. She Mets an other young lady who becomes a life long friend. As they travel West they experience so many hardships. The young man is someone who can change her life. He has his own troubles and wants then finished before anything happens. Its a good read for someone who has faced trials themselves.
Although there are some poorly chosen adjectives and adverbs plus a few misused pronouns, this book is a reader's delight in many ways. I love the character growth and development, the graceful introduction of new characters and the smooth flow of both dialog and story line.
This is the second in this Wildflower saga written by Leah Banicki. There is lots of excitement and adventure from Oregon to California and back to Oregon again. Angela along with Clive's grandson and family store in San Francisco where they survive two fires nearly destroying the entire town to the great loss in Corrine's family back in Oregon. You will love this tale.
I love this authors ability to weave prayer and Christian values into her work. Angela was a supporting character in the first book and Corrine becomes the supporting character in this one. The author allows the character to develop naturally and with great compassion while showing the struggle we all have to lean on God and accept that we are worthy of love.
Awesome Historical Story based in Independence, Mo. (my hometown). The characters are well developed and delightful with all the changes & glory they attend to-a real Joy to read. Continuing with these charming stories. An escape to sink into as though watching a movie, the sounds, sights and effects are so real. Reading & Loving Author: Leah Banicki~you will also. I am enjoying this series, this book is a pleasant well written story. I find these stories although somewhat simple, give me a sense of calm. The characters are believable and I enjoy the Christian aspect of these people… as well as entertaining the characters give you food for thought.
This is a good story with plenty of action and suspense. The characters are very real people, their godly advice and wisdom, shown by most of the characters, was refreshing! The ladies are too emotional and cry way too much. They are very young though one must remember. Otherwise it's a good read.
Angela's story is quite interesting! Another woman who draws strength from her ability to be patient and wait for God's plan for her life. Something we could all be better at!
I love Clive, wish I had someone like him in my life!! The series is like living it. Lots of trauma and issues arising. Really appreciate how they trust in God to lead and guide and heal along the way. Can't wait to read the next one.
I've enjoyed reading this story, Angela's Hope, the author has shared her characters and their adventures with all of us. The story is a very entertaining and romantic story.
This sequel did not disappoint! I loved reading from all the different points of view but especially Angela’s. I relate to her a lot and loved seeing her grow and mature with age. I love all the characters in this series; it’s so cozy and fun to read. Onto the third book!
Great back story of Angela and her plans for the future but Dolly kind of got lost in the book. She is introduced at the end of book 1 as a would be close friend but is on the fringe of friendship. I hope we get to find out more about her and Valerie
More of an extended prologue to the first book. Not much of Angela’s story told that was new. Most of the new storyline felt like it was rushed through while Corrine’s story took over.
An amazing series. Each book continues the journey and adds more great characters to the storyline. I continue to look forward to each new book to see where it takes all the characters I love. If you like reading about how the pioneers went West, you will love this series.
So Andrew, Corinnes first husband in book one graduated from Yale. In this book it was said he graduated from Harvard. Both ivy League schools. Just a little mess up. I though this book would be just about Angela. Its about everyone. Very happy reading. Now onto the next book.
I have found it hard to stop reading these books. Leah Banicki has become one of.my Favorite authors. I.highly recommend her books. Great for young adults.
Angela was heartfelt and caring character. I felt like turning the pages and see what happens next. Love the strengths within each women and helping each other through the traveling by wagon train to Oregon.
I have devoured the first 2 books of this series. Beautiful historical fiction with all the feels from sweet romance, family, and community. Can’t wait to read the rest,
I’m a Christian & I love to read books when they are clean. But, this book is very repetitive! It’s ok to love God & Pray but when every other sentence is about praying, you lose the story line. I kept getting bogged down & at times lost the story line.
