I love this book because it was simple and informative and had training plan that had all of the information that I need and yet it didn't have a whole bunch of information that I had to sift through I would definitely recommend this book to another beginner runner I've been running now for 12 weeks and I'm about to race my first 5K with visions of doing a 10K next
I’ve been trying to become a runner for just over a year. Wish I would have had this book a year ago! I have considered myself a runner since earlier this year...that’s when I was finally able to make the 3 mile mark. I now run 3 miles multiple times a week. I still haven’t conquered outdoor running.
Was a great easy read that I read while running on the treadmill. I will recommend this book!
Pretty decent "how to get started" running guide. Read it a long time ago and enjoyed the 5k plan. Recently getting back into running after a hiatus and plan to use again. Wasn't able to access the website to print out the 5k plan. I have an ebook version and like to write on my workout plans. That is my only complaint.
Where to begin. When I bought this book, I made the mistake of not paying attention to the length. It was so short, I read it in 10 minutes. Certainly not worth the money. The book is entitled "Complete Beginners Guide". There is a lot missing. The majority of the book is common sense. On the bright side there is some good basic information, but it lacks information vital to beginner runners; hydration, stretching, nutrition, building strength in the core and upper body, just to mention a few.
If you are a beginner runner, I would look else where for a running guide.
Definitely nice book for beginning with your running from the scratch. Unfortunately, very very short. I've been also missing some important information (for example I don't even know what to eat, what food is good, etc). I am absolute newbie in running and I knew nothing. Now I know A LITTLE. :) Although this book has a title "A Complete Beginners Guide", I will have to buy another, more comprehensive book. Some real "Complete guide". Anyway, thanks for your words, I am really excited and motivated to RUN! Take care, Michael!
very good information about getting yourself ready to be able run. I did learn that the 5k app that I have is a good thing to use because it's the same schedule that he has.
