Christina Tran is a lifelong animal lover and cat owner. Growing up in Kansas, her family even had dogs, rabbits, chickens, ducks, and goats. When Christina first moved to Chicago and had no pets of her own, she adopted professional pet care as a second career. She thoroughly enjoys the ongoing contact with meeting wonderful animals and other like-minded animal people! Her cat, Cassidy, was the inspiration for her first children's book "Cat Cabby".
Christina worked for several years as an editor and designer at a children's publishing company. She enjoys writing and sharing her love of animals in the form of poetry and storytelling with others. Working at a Chicago area nonprofit helping people who are blind or visually impaired, and being visually impaired herself, Christina's writings also focus on issues of importance such as diversity, empowerment, and self-esteem.
Besides reading and writing children's books, Christina also owns a collection of over 100 cookbooks. She enjoys cooking and being crafty and loves giving homemade gifts to family and loved ones.
This one started out a bit slow for me. As the story unfolds, I think the choice of lyrics is challenging to grasp for the wee little ones but the cute pics hold their attention. Most kids like animals and the rhyming draws in the older ones, while the action picks up. For me, the story line just didn't flow as well until we got towards the end and then I loved it. The book finishes strong!
I probably got this for free on Amazon...I hope it was free. Maybe it was me but this was not very good. I gave it an extra star because I'm dog sitting and I had no book to read my son tonight. I think he gave me a wtf look right at the end because I ruined story time.
Sadly, it wasn't even just the story that wasn't good...the page layout could have, at the very least, been attempted and the art might have been OK, had it not looked like an after thought due to the aforementioned page layout problem.
Thank you for the free book. I'm really sorry I couldn't leave a more positive review.
Cassidy cat is a cab driver who falls asleep as he is driving. He picks up Ginger cat to take her to a birthday party. Ginger has a plan to help Cassidy stay awake. She is going to play music but forgets the music. She has to get to the bakery to get the cupcakes. Cassidy starts the car and falls asleep but still gets her there safely. Cassidy is very sorry. Read this book to see how Cassidy’s friends help him with his problem and then read to learn the true story behind Cassidy Cat.
Cat Cabby tells of Cassidy the cat driving a taxi. It is a cute idea for a children's book but too many words are beyond the grasp of young children. The illustrations are age appropriate and wonderful for young children but the story is a bit beyond their ability and would need lots of explaining for them to understand. Children in middle grades would enjoy the story and rhyme of this story.
