After a major injury on the rodeo circuit, Hayden takes over as foreman at the Cole Ranch. But he finds that acting on pure instinct as he did in the arena isn’t working with his boss or the ranch hands, and that getting the landowner’s daughter Zoe Beth in his bed has probably put his job on the line.
Since childhood, Zoe Beth’s sole goal is to be seen as an equal among the cowboys in her life and to manage her father’s ranch. But her daddy--and now Hayden--bosses her around. In the bedroom with the tall, muscled ex-bull rider, it’s toe-curling, but in the pastures, she’s damn well going to earn the respect she deserves.
When she takes in a neglected animal belonging to the neighbor, she is faced with a decision that will prove her guts as a rancher even while Hayden will be forced to see himself for the dominating person he’s truly become.
Zoe has only ever wanted to be seen as an equal in the eyes of her father. She wants to inherit the ranch like a son would. However her father treats her like a child and she goes out of her way to try and prove him wrong. However, she does things that could get her in trouble but her tender heart won't let her.
Hayden is the new foreman and he really needs this job. He isn't looking for a distraction like Zoe. However he finds her just too tempting. Their nights are blazing hot and their days are bickering. Hayden is a very alpha man who expects that Zoe will do as she is told. In the bedroom is one thing, outside is a whole different ball game.
The way Hayden Meadows and Zoe Beth Cole met set the stage for things to come! Absolutely loved her fiery personality!
An injury during a bull-riding event has ended Hayden’s career, and now he’s the new foreman at Cole Cattle Ranch – the position Zoe Beth wanted so much, she could taste it. But while raised on the ranch and very knowledgeable in all aspects of running it, her father, Valentine Cole, sees her as simply a flighty female who needs to be looked after and protected. His idea of “protecting” Zoe Beth is pushing her towards his neighbor, Joseph Michael, a man closer to Valentine’s age than Zoe Beth’s, and someone she knows is cruel to his animals. Zoe Beth is determined not to go down that road.
Despite their both trying to ignore it, the chemistry between Hayden and Zoe Beth is electric. After she needs his help one night, the sparks explode into a full blown inferno and these two bring the heat. Unfortunately, the night ends in a misunderstanding, but that’s just the door to great make-up sex, right? Even better, there’s some honesty thrown into the mix with real emotions, and despite the fact their affair is still a secret, glimmers of hope are everywhere.
When Hayden’s dominant nature shows itself during the day-to-day running of the ranch, Zoe Beth pushes back…and Hayden goes into Dominant Alpha Neanderthal mode. At this point, the story loses some of its sizzle FOR ME. Not because of Hayden’s actions, but because Zoe Beth’s response diluted her character. She acquiesces all too easily simply because of sex. Meh. I felt she didn’t deserve to be reduced to Typical Romance Heroine behavior when she had such a great story introduction, and had held her own through much of the story.
Reasons for Hayden’s actions are revealed, and of course, they are nothing less than adorable, and he’s still a positive character. Val…not so much. His rant in the stable was so far out of line and disrespectful, I started to wonder if Zoe Beth was adopted. I don’t blame her for walking away, but…it would have been nice to “see” the conversation between Hayden and Val, and KNOW she had more value to Hayden than just when she was naked on her back. I’m sure Val would not have had a major change of heart, sign over the ranch to Zoe Beth and retire, but seeing him put in his place about his own daughter would have been priceless…because he was SO wrong.
A good read. Hayden is a strong likeable character trying to restart his life when he’s broadsided by a woman. Zoe Beth is also a strong character…until she takes her clothes off. Not sure who creeped me out more, daddy Val or wannabe suitor, Joseph Michael, but I liked Five Feet better than both of them…and you will too!
Spurred on is book 3 in a series, but I would have never known it as it is a stand alone with a beginning and HFN ending. I have not read any any other books from this series.
The Cowboy and Western genre is not one I frequent because phrases like "lil darlin," words like filly, and sayings like "happy as a dead pig in the sunshine" are like nails on a chalk board to me....ya git what i'm saying lil' doggy! That being said I am doing a reading challenge right now and this genre was an option. Since it is out of my comfort zone I decided to give it a try. I'm not saying "darlin" wasn't used or little phrases that had me rolling my eyes, but it wasn't over done. Yeeha!
Hayden is a rough, take charge, needs to be in control alpha man. He is now the foreman for the Cole ranch and Zoe Beth is the under appreciated, wanna be taken seriously, owner's daughter. Sparks fly as headstrong wills are tested. It was a cute little story, but what took it up to 5 stars for me was the sex. It was HOTT! Hayden knows what he wants, he knows what to do, and he doesn't disappoint. Ms. Petrova does a great job setting the scene with the dialog and detail. I feel like I'm right there with them...even if I'm not the white cotton panty type.
Will I read more from the genre, probably not, but I am definitely glad this is the book I stumbled upon!
I received an ARC of this novella in exchange for an honest review and finally got a chance to read it and give it 4.5 stars.
The name of this series says it all, this was a quick, sizzling hot, short read, and I read it in one sitting because it was impossible to put down.
Zoe Beth Cole, only daughter of Val Cole, lives and works hard on her father's multi-million dollar ranch, getting no recognition from her father whatsoever. Her dream is to make the ranch her own someday, but for now she'd like to be named foreman. When she and her dog corner a strange man in the barn, he turns out to be Hayden Meadows, a champion professional bull rider who was injured after being thrown in the middle of a nearly perfect season--his injuries severe enough to end his career. When he informs Zoe Beth that he's just been hired as the new ranch foreman, she's certainly not happy with that piece of news, but she's also seriously attracted to the handsome cowboy and he's equally attracted to her.
As if the new ranch foreman wasn't enough to upset her, learning that her father wants to marry her off to the cruel owner of the neighboring ranch who is 20 years her senior, she realizes that she'll have to prove herself and her abilities to her father, but when she discovers an abandoned deformed calf on the boundary between the two ranches, and she knows that the owner left it there to starve to death, she can't bring herself to kill it. Instead, Hayden helps her rescue and hide it to try to save its life, and the two co-conspirators start striking sparks off each other that are powerful enough to start an inferno, as only Em Petrova can write it.
This is definitely a tale for mature audiences only, and my only complaint is that I felt that the ending was rather abrupt, but then I'll admit to always feeling that way when I'm enjoying a book as entertaining and hot as this one.
This story sets the pages on fire with passion so all consuming, it borders on combustible!
When a washed up champion bull rider takes a job as foreman of a multi million dollar ranch, he never expects to have his whole world turned on its head by the owner’s feisty, vivacious and wildly sexy daughter with her hunger to succeed and win her father’s respect.
Hayden and Zoe Beth’s desire is ignited almost instantly from their very first encounter and it becomes an insatiable need as time goes by. But while no words of forever have been spoken, they both know that passion isn’t the only draw, and while it may cost him his dream job, their hearts cannot be denied.
I loved this story and even when Hayden became dominant, arrogant and dictatorial, it was clear his underlying fear for Zoe Beth’s safety was the catalyst for his over-bearing need for control. My only disappointment was not seeing the insufferable neighbour get his comeuppance.
Hayden and Zoe Beth meet when he gets the job she's been wanting forever. Not a story to walk away from. Em Petrova did an excellent job with these characters as they clash and make up. And the making up is hot off the charts. Zoe Beth has always wanted a job title on her daddy's ranch, especially the title of foreman. There's nothing she can't do or won't try. Hayden gets the job after recovering from injuries suffered from the rodeo circuit and he has his hands full keeping her safe. He comes off as bossy and Zoe Beth has had enough. They clash and make up!! Great read. This book was given to me for an honest review.
This is my favorite from the series. Zoe Beth is trying to do her best to impress her father so that he will take her seriously and consider her good enough to run their ranch. Her struggles are in vain as Hayden shows up as the new foreman. It does not take long for the sparks to fly and the heat to turn up. As Hayden realizes his feelings, he wants to protect Zoe Beth from everything. He almost loses her until he hears what she has to say. She is strong and independent, but enjoys giving some control to Hayden without losing herself. This is the third in the series and I definitely recommend it.
I received a copy of this story in exchange for an honest review.
I really loved this book. Each of the Quick and the Hot Series books are standalone books. This one is sizzling hot. Hayden is a hot, sexy ex bull rider and the new manager on Zoe Beth's fsther's ranch. This book starts out interesting on page 1, and continues to be through the whole book. There are parts of this book where you will be laughing out loud, and then there are some parts rhat are so hot. It is also, a really good story. I received this book from the author in return for an honest review, and I do recommend it.
Hotttttttt, nice quick summer read, loved how the story flowed seamlessly. Hayden is a former bull rider after injuring himself he takes on the job of foreman for the Cole ranch where he meets Zoe Beth his boss daughter. He knows that she's off limits but she just keep pushing the envelope. The author left a bit of unfinished business with Joseph their closest neighborhood and someone who had his eyes on Zoe Beth, I just wish that would have been explained and developed in depth, but overall good book.
Spurred On is my favorite book of this series! Hayden and Zoe Beth are the hottest couple of the three sets and this is the longest story (I believe) so there seems to be a little more depth to it. Hayden is a rough, tough former bull rider who sustained a bad injury that took him out of the rodeo permanently. He is now the foreman for the Cole ranch and Zoe Beth is the proverbial 'farmers daughter'. Wellllll.... you can see where this is going (yeah baby). Spurred On is just perfect for a HOT afternoon when the kids are at school and you have the house to yourself!

This is the naughtiest of the series so far. It's a very good take on the enemies-to-lovers trope that has its humorous moments as well as a little sadness.
Hayden & Zoe should be in competition, but the attraction arcing between them makes them forget many times to be enemies. As Zoe does everything in her power to be taken seriously, Hayden struggles to see her as an equal instead of a woman needing his protection.
I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for my review, and I heartily recommend it.
When injured rodeo star Hayden shows up on the ranch, Zoe Beth's life is turned upside down. As the owner's daughter, she's fought her entire life for equality and respect. Never did she imagine she could fall for such a dominating man.
This is book 3 of a series of independent sizzling reads and I think it's the best yet. Hayden and Zoe Beth are both strong and independent characters with an extreme attraction!
I zipped through these 3 stories over a couple of days of commuting to work. An injury has this rodeo cowboy reassessing his future. He takes over as foreman on a major ranch and falls for the boss's daughter. Hayden and Zoe Beth clash over the fact that she wanted his job but sparks soon fly from jealousy to lust and finally love. I loved these two characters and enjoyed their journey.
This was given to me by the author for ARC I enjoyed reading Hayden and Zoe Beth. He is a true cowboy who got hurt in a rodeo. He met Zoe Beth with her dog tripod. She is daddy's girl who is hardworking and knows her stuff but daddy hires Hayden as the Forman. Sparks fly, emotions and passion. Definitely a great book. I hope to meet Hayden and Zoe Beth again in another book.
Whew! What's a girl do when she wants to be treated equal and an injured rodeo star named Hayden gets the foreman job that she wanted? Sparks fly and passion flare outside and inside the bedroom despite Hayden being a bossy male and Zoe Beth being the bosses daughter. My favorite in the series. Received an ARC copy from author for a honest review.
I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Another hot sexy story by Em. With endearing characters and an engrossing storyline, once you start reading this, you won't be able to put it down.
Such a hot and steamy read that moves along quickly. The characters have remarkable interactions and chemistry. Two strong willed people, with an intense sexual attraction, find happiness on the ranch. Loved this book!
"Spurred On" (The Quick and the Hot Series Book 3) by Em Petrova is a smoking hot read. I loved reading about Zoe Beth and Hayden. This story is full of passion, new beginnings, hot cowboys, and more. Highly recommend to all fans of romance!

Loved Hayden & Zoe Beth's story, it had a hot cowboy finding the ranchers daughter. The sparks flew between them and it was great watching them find their place together.
