i had to sit in a library to read this, since it's not available for borrowing. possibly the most vivid and imaginative 2 hours of reading in a really long time. this book is only 55 pages and is rather more of a pamphlet.....and it's not for everyone. if you're open-minded about searching who you are and the kind of life you want to live with clear, concise language that compliments the complexity of ideas....you might greatly enjoy this. also, this "book" is a must own and should be read more than twice in a lifetime.
"The Man Who Tapped the Secrets of the Universe" by Glenn Clark. It is about Walter Russell who left school at the age of nine only to become a renowned sculptor, painter, architect, musician, and physicist. Russell experienced "cosmic illumination" "During that period...I could perceive all motion, and was newly aware of all things." Russell was able to tap into the Universe for ideas and knowledge. He explains that the Universe or God is where man's creativity comes from...not the brain. He talks about meditative techniques and that one must shut out the trivial day-to-day noise, interact with nature, and resist the pitfalls of greed. This is a very interesting and quick read, only 57 pages.
This is a great spirituality book that made re-examine my thoughts on God. This book is about the life of Walter Russell. This guy had a amazing life and did it all. He was a musician, a painter, a sculptor, a writer, a figure skater, a horse trainer,a business man, a scientist, and a professor of his own college. He was amazing that Walter Cronkite called him "The Leonardo da Vinci of our time."
Russell had near death experience as a child where he believes it showed him the cause of all things by the divine mind. Clark has such a great quote in this book that I've glad I spent the time reading it. "Every successful man or great genius has three particular qualities in common. The most conspicuous of these is that they all produce a prodigious amount of work. THe second is that they never know fatigue. And the third is that their minds grow more brilliant as they grow older, instead of less brilliant. Great men's lives begin at forty, where the mediocre man's life ends. The genius remains an ever-flowing fountain of creative achievement until the very last breath he draws." -Glen Clark
Since he pinpointed the cause of things (from God's divinity), then you are in possession of all knowledge. He details 5 laws of success which are Humility, Reverence, Inspiration, Deep Purpose and Joy.
Through deep meditation, Russell believed the the mind of man should merge with the divine mind. After the merger, with positive thinking and a good attitude, all things are possible.
The only problem I had with the book was it wasn't edited well. That's why I gave it 3 stars. This is a shame because reading about Walter Russell's made me I can could achieve anything and his advice is very sound. Another quote I would to share is: "Inspiration comes only to those who seek it with humility toward their own achievements and reverence toward the achievements of God." -Glen Clark
I absolutely agree that inspiration is connected with humility but I'm unsure about the reverence toward the achievements of God part. I'm planning to read more spiritual books because I'm unfamiliar with the topic and I want to be more open to it.
This book is highly recommended for anyone who wants to read a story of a amazing and dynamic man
Me gusta. Me reta. Me confunde.
This book has taken me to the next level in my spiritual journey. The life and teachings of Walter Russell has truly inspired me. So much, that i have purchased three of his books just to learn more.
Wisdom of a genius. My highlights Geniuses/successful people: Work without fatigue, Produce huge amounts of work and get more brilliant with age "[A genius'] life starts where a mediocre man's life ends"
My friend recommended this book to me, but honestly I got more out of her interpretation of the material than the material itself. The message is a good one. (My first read for 2017.)
"Your body is merely a machine made to express the thoughts that flow through you and nothing more. It is but an instrument for you to express your imagings just as a piano is an instrument for a musician to express his imaginings. Just as the piano is not the musician so, likewise, your body is not you." (page 40)
A thought provoking book looking into Walter Russell's life.
Outstanding.. This was the book that turned my world upside down and inside out.. From here I was turned on to Walter and Lao Russell. I am still quite involved with the research and Love that these two individuals have given to the world.
The account of Walter Russell's Illumination in his own words.
"Can you tell me the process by which this ALL - KNOWLEDGE came to you? Was it always a gradual process, the result of earnest, patient seeking, or was there a high point, a period of revelation or illumination?" Mr. Russell replied, "I will put it very simply. In May of 1921 God took me up into a high mountain of inspiration and intense ecstasy. A brilliant Flash like lightning severed my bodily sensation from my consciousness, and I found myself freed from my body and wholly in the Mind universe of Light, which is God. "And then God said to me, 'Behold thou the unity of all things in Light of Me, and the seeming separateness of all things in the two lights of my divided thinking. See thou that I, the Undivided, Unchanging One, am within all divided things, centering them, and I am without all changing things, controlling them.'
"And the secrets of the universe were unfolded to me in their great simplicity as the doors to the Light opened fully to my consciousness. In less time than it takes to put it into words, I knew all there was to know of the CAUSE of all effect, for there was very little to know. In that hour it was as though the infinity of complexity within the moving kaleidoscope were suddenly taken apart, and it was shown to me that the entirety of its illusion was but three mirrors and a few bits of broken glass. Likewise the universal kaleidoscope was but moving mirror waves of dual light extending from their equilibrium in God from Whom all creating things spring in octave electric waves just as the ocean waves spring from the calm sea.
"Thus knowing the static Light of God, the two dynamic lights of His thinking, and the electric processes by means of which His thinking is recorded in 'matter,' I at once had the key to all the sciences: mathematics, chemistry, astronomy, and mechanics; and likewise to all the underlying principles of creation: of life and the healing principle; of continuity in a universe in which there is no death; of energy which is not what man thinks it to be; and of matter which is not substance as man supposes it to be; and of the forces which act upon it which man has learned how to use somewhat, but knows not the why of that which he uses.
"And likewise the mystery of the soul was mine to know; and of growth; and the patterns of things in the seeds of things; and the manner of their unfolding, their repetition, and their evolution. "And the LAW was mine to know, the ONE LAW which governs all things extending from the Source through the universal pulse beat which motivates all things. And it was made known to me that I must extend knowledge of this law into all human relations to help remake the world in its new day which God has planned.
"For very many days and nights I was made to write down all these things which I knew in The Divine Iliad, which is my record of my teachings while in the Light. In that one volume of many thousands of words, there was never an erasure nor correction, and the language of that divine message was not mine. I could never have written such rhythmic essence of knowledge, nor have created its exalted style. "Thus I was made to see the universe as a whole and its simple principle of creation as one unit, repeated over and over, endlessly and without variation, as evidenced in the universal heartbeat to which every pulsing thing in the light-wave universe is geared to act as ONE UNIT OF THE WHOLE.
"So simple is this underlying Principle of Creation that I have been enabled, throughout these years, to state it in one paragraph and one octave-wave diagram so simply that every law or theory ever propounded in the past or future by man can be tested by that paragraph and that diagram. If they will not fit into this unitary principle, they are outside of Natural Law and must be discarded. It will be found that most of even the most fundamental laws and theories of the past and present do not come anywhere near fitting into this underlying principle. They will, therefore, have to be discarded in favor of immortal Truth.
"And so it happened that I, who had never had any school or university training above the primary grades, thus knew instantly, while in the Light, what all the universities in the world could never teach. "By this rarest of all experiences ever to happen to any man, it was made known to me just what Jesus meant when He spoke of ‚the Light of the world.' He meant just that, yet it has been misinterpreted as metaphor or symbol. "No greater proof than my experience is needed to prove to the doubting world that all knowledge exists in the Mind universe of Light—which is God—that all Mind is One Mind, that men do not have separate minds, and that all knowledge can be obtained from the Universal Source of All-Knowledge by becoming One with that Source."
This tiny book challenges us to read and reread and then read again. There is a lot of wisdom here. The dedication is beautiful: Awareness--Who dips his pen in golden flame of Truth, Who molds a thing of beauty from dull clay, Whose eyes are closed to all that seems uncouth, Who tunes his life-notes to a silver lay... Transcends all ills and holds no thought of death, Nor feels a fear of grave or worm or clod, But gives out Love with every moment's breath And know this truth, that he is one with God. by Ruby Altizer Roberts
The five Laws of Success is certainly worth the re- re- reading. 1. Humility; 2 Reverence; 3 Inspiration; 4 Deep Purpose; 5 Joy - one of my favorite words. I wish you all JOY.
If this was a review of the ideas of Walter Russel, his work and personal philosophy this would be a 5, this book has sparked a deep interest in me to look into his work.
However the actual structure and framing of this book was a bit lack lustre and was quite poorly edited.
If you are looking for inspiration in your life then take the journey with this biography of an enlightened man named Walter Russell. He has long since left us but his books are continue his legacy. This book is his philosophy of Cosmic consciousness. I will be reading it again and again.
This book was given to me from a mentor almost 20 years ago. I loved it then, and after reading it again for the first time in a couple decades, I still found new insights. Highly recommended.
I finished this book and it told me to read it again, and then maybe after the third time through I might really understand it. I suppose we shall find out.
Walter Russell reminds me a bit of Ezra Pound: the crankiness, the pointed beard, the artistic genius, the sheerly Victorian output, even the Neoplatonic lionization of Light.
Was okay... got a little strange in some parts. I dont think this book is for everyone. It could be dangerous for those who aren't solid in their faith.
Very interesting read on a snowy day. Recommend to anyone who likes thinking about things differently sometimes. A thicker wire allows more conduit? Something like that ... We are all light.
"The Man Who Tapped the Secrets of the Universe" is a book about a man named Walter Russell. He was a musician, a painter, a sculptor, a writer, a figure skater, a horse trainer,a business man, a scientist, and a professor of his own college. When Mr. Russell died, Walter Cronkite called him "The Leonardo da Vinci of our time."
It seems Walter Russell did all his work in an inspired state, and that's why he was good at everything. He had some kind of a near death/ mystical experience as a child where he swears he was shown the cause of all things by the divine mind.
He says that once you know the cause of things, then you are in possession of all knowledge. He then goes on to give a few tips about being successful, outlining the 5 laws of success that obviously worked for him. His laws are: Humility, Reverence, Inspiration, Deep Purpose and Joy.
Russell basically stated that during deep meditation, the mind of man should merge with the divine mind. Then, with positive thinking and a good attitude, all things are possible.
Walter Russell was a huge success, and he was good at everything he ever undertook, so it's likely he knows what he's talking about. The only honest trouble I had with "The Man Who Tapped the Secrets of the Universe" was that it wasn't particularity well written or well edited. Glenn Clark was not a great writer. This book is supposed to be an introductory to the teachings of Walter Russell though, so for what it is, it's good enough.
I'm going to read more about Russell because the man must have known something about "The Secrets of the Universe" to accomplish all that he did!
Yeah so it was not written Walter Russell but I personally don't really care because the Author did an amazing job. I could not stop reading once I started. And I even read it twice just like the author said. It also did inspire me.
What an inspirational life this man led! I really enjoyed reading about his life, his beliefs and purpose. About 55 pages, easy to read and understand - I've read it twice now.
