Alun Brady, a young man who has led a sheltered life with his parents in a rich Cardiff suburb, is thrown into bizarre new situations when his grandfather comes to live with the family. He meets colourful new characters who disrupt and shatter his monotonous life.
Of all the different paths someone can take on the way to the end, this one had an ironic kick in the stomach. Beautifully written with a captivating now-and-then plot. When the two plots finally met, i was expecting some sort of realization, not the twist this one had!
And also the pros and cons of the naive/idealistic self, family drama and intense conflict, and an interestingly ironic ending. I don't want to be Alun. You just knew things were not going to go smoothly, even though you might not have quite predicted this particular conclusion.
