Does your DNA have a hidden purpose, and could it be the transformation of consciousness itself? Gene Keys offers a means of unlocking your untapped potential by awakening the sleeping genius inside you.A SPIRITUAL COMPANION FOR LIFE Since its first publication, Gene Keys has been hailed as a spiritual classic. It is the hub of a whole interconnected web of online wisdom teachings. Designed to help you decode your Gene Keys Profile (free from genekeys.com/free-profile), the book explains how to transform your specific "shadow patterns" or traumas, into creative gifts. On every page there is a key insight that helps you to see yourself and live your life in a more harmonious way. As you read it, Gene Keys creates the uplifting feeling that humanity is now undergoing a great awakening, culminating in a bright and positive future, very different from the world we see today. A visionary synthesis with many practical applications, logical yet with great poetic subtlety, Gene Keys is a spiritual companion to contemplate over the course of a lifetime.
The Gene Keys is a long-winded playbook that aims to merge several philosophies, taught by a man who found anecdotal evidence of their truthfulness and effectiveness through his own spiritual journey. In the world of self-help books, this is not a rare story to find. That is not to say, however, that this book lacks value.
The Gene Keys' value for me is in helping me to identify shadow patterns that are real and tangible to me in my daily life. Whether or not I believe that I can change my physical coding by changing my thoughts, I do believe that perspective is powerful, and a large part of my self-work has been learning to shift my perspective in a number of areas, so that I don't keep falling into negative thought spirals that ultimately keep me depressed, anxious, and miserable. The "keys" that Rudd has identified in this tome are immensely valuable, because he offers an actual alternative to each shadow thought. His belief is that we have genes that, when certain frequencies are applied (by thinking), manifest as certain behaviors, and that if we can identify them and apply a different frequency, the gene will manifest in a more favorable way. In other words, if we intentionally think different thoughts that align with what we WANT to project, it will shift our vibration, and it will perpetuate our preferred thought patterns. The negative thought spiral from a shadow frequency will instead turn into a positive thought spiral, or one that pushes us ever higher toward, well, however high we want to climb on our spiritual or mental wellness journeys.
I found this book because I needed to, and I believe that. It has offered me some valuable alternatives to some of my darkest thought patterns, and for that, I am greatly appreciative. I do think that anyone who finds this book in their hands could find value in it, but I admit it is a better read if you just let it fall open to a page and start reading from there. Interestingly, Rudd encourages you to do just that. I find it has made a lovely companion for me to turn to when I have thoughts best shared with a therapist, and that the perspective within often helps me to course correct with those thoughts.
For the very skeptical, I'll tell you that this is one of those books that tells you it isn't pseudoscience, but blends the metaphysical and spiritual with both scientifically sound and scientifically questionable concepts. In the same chapter, Richard Rudd will share ideas that are widely accepted in science, and then sprinkle in some that are undeniably understood to be pseudoscience, but he presents them the same way. As an author in any field, cherry picking bits of pseudoscience to fit your narrative, and claiming that what you're selling isn't pseudoscience at all, is irritating at best, and serves to shred your credibility at worst. He almost lost me because of that, but I am glad I kept going. I read it and reread bits of it much like he wrote it: cherry picking chapters to fit my own narrative.
I came across this book back in April of 2016 by intuition. I first read the book sequentially, then by Codon Ring groupings. The Gene Keys is an amazing piece of literature that combines ancient knowledge of spirituality, sound, cosmology, and the modern discovery in the areas of epigenetics, consciousness, quantum physics, and subtle energy, and so on.
I am particularly fascinated by its main-focus on “love” as the elemental energy determining the human evolutionary path. I highly recommend the Gene Keys to anyone seeking spiritual enlightenment.

I've read a lot of New Age books over the years, and I firmly believe that the consciousness of the human race is evolving in a positive way, that said, I wasn't quite prepared for a book as amazing as Gene Keys. Richard Rudd has made an incredible contribution to the new thought/new age movement. This book describes in great detail where we are heading in the future, how to reconcile where we've been and how to make the absolute best of where we are right now. Beyond any religious tradition, yet encompassing them all, this is a Zen masterpiece. There are many lofty concepts in this book that the author does a brilliant job of making accessible to anyone. Of the 534 pages in this book, there is not one that doesn't say something important. This is a book to return to time and time again. There is a truly magical quality about working with the Gene Keys. There is a really good chance that while reading it, you may experience some rather shocking, mystical experiences. I'm not kidding, I was blown away. This book will stay on my shelf with the books I return to often. FTC Disclosure: I was given a review copy of this book by a representative of its publisher. I was not paid for my review, and my opinion is my own honest assessment of this work. This one is a classic.
Light is light. It is an impersonal phenomenon... But enlightenment - expressed in a human body, through a human personality- is an entirely different thing. Passing through the unique Genetic "prism" of the body-mind, when light illuminates the vessel of the human, it takes on different ways of outward expression, appearance, and/or genius. This, among other things, is what Richard Rudd succeeds in illustrating and presenting in this masterpiece of spiritual literature.
Far before i had the honor of knowing Richard a bit more as a student, experiencing his courses and materials available in the Gene Keys site- I intuitively recognized him as one of the greatest writers and thinkers in the field of spirituality and human potential at this time. I read his book, was amazed but also startled by the depth and implications of what he writes... and the "penetrating" power of his words, which i could feel literally in my every cell. Then i put down the book for a year or so, only to pick it up again, this time more mature and ready to put his teaching into practice... which i did with the aid of his courses for the next few following years.
This is how i came to know R.R. a bit more closely as a teacher, and be truly impacted by what he calls "the transmission". It was a true adventure, and also a challenge and blessing- To work with these materials for the period of time that i did (Several years).
These days i find myself moving on to other inward explorations- but i still consider the Gene Keys circle to be a relatively healthy and beneficial surroundings for one who is truly interested in personal growth and development. The book itself is thrilling- R.R. is a great writer- i think it might be his strongest suit, and he has many. Don't pick this book up if you are not looking for a profound and deep change within yourself and your life experience. The book carries transformational energies, that may even bring one some difficulty- if one is not ready to absorb them and go through deep inner change. Then again- who knows what one is ready for?.... Life tends to show us, i have learned... in spite of "ourselves". Love.
How much of our lives are nature v nurture? Are events predetermined, and what of destiny?
Before reading this book, the first step is to visit: https://genekeys.com/free-profile/ to complete a reading based on your birth details. Be sure to have your exact time of birth handy. Without this foundation, you will become hopelessly lost and tire of the content almost immediately because it will not have context.
Richard Rudd, who was named on the Watkins list of the 100 Most Spiritually Influential Living People in 2019, explains that your Gene Keys profile “is the beginning of an epic journey into the depths of your soul.” Each Gene Key is a “portal of transformation that can be activated through the power of contemplation.”
At 500+ pages, this is not a book one would read end-to-end, and much of it will not be relevant because only a few of the 64 Gene Keys will apply based on your specific profile. Rudd has developed a comprehensive system that includes six other manuscripts, or manuals, which provide the reader with a proprietary evolutionary map.
Rudd offers a “great debt to Ra Uru Hu, the founder of the Human Design System” and the Chinese I Ching, which contains “codes within it.” These codes, called Gene Keys, are based on your DNA and astrological profile from which the author generates a series of modules to “imbibe, contemplate, and apply in your daily life” as living wisdom.
The premise of the book is that “every single human being has something beautiful hidden inside them,” and the purpose of the Gene Keys is to “bring that beauty forth, to unveil one’s incandescence,” which Rudd suggests is “the eternal spark of genius that sets you apart from everybody else.”
I am not sure that one can satisfactorily conflate DNA, astrology, and the I Ching's ancient wisdom - which may be no more than a parlor game for bored intellectuals seeking otherworldly guidance. That the author mixes science, pseudo-science, and magick as the basis for a cogent, coherent, credible framework to guide one toward a bright life of confident self-expression is moot.
So, from the get-go, Rudd’s task is a lofty one. Various astrological systems, for example, sidereal and tropical, provide different ‘coordinates’ for the underlying profile, and thus, other perspectives are potentially available. In the absence of a DNA sample, it is unclear how Rudd attributes specific amino acids and the human endocrine system to his process, yet this is what he does.
DNA and the extent to which we are directed or influenced by nature or nurture are pithy, existential subjects. Are our lives predetermined by genes, and is it that some are destined to be a success due to their genetic inheritance? As determined by his genes, if a king were born to a pauper, what would happen?
The field of epigenetics and quantum mechanics suggests that one may be capable of consciously influencing their genetic expression with the application of knowledge, desire, intention, and persistence, so perhaps this is the value of the Gene Keys because what it delivers, in spades, are knowledge and insight of the human condition.
The Gene Keys is best digested as a labor of love that includes its partner books, podcasts, and videos (some on YouTube). I also drew on a range of independent interpretations from students of the system available on Google.
As a lifelong learner and spiritual seeker, I found the Gene Keys to be a wonderful adjunct to my personal path of discovery. It worked for me when I took the time to contemplate Rudd’s potpourri of ideas and concepts. For many readers, time is of the essence, yet if you seek a divergent perspective on nebulous concepts like the "soul," destiny, and how to live your best life, then the Gene Keys is for you.
Okay so I actually ate this one up. Genuinely fascinating. Like with all spiritual texts (especially New age ones), I think it is to be taken with a grain of salt. But the journey it presents you with is quite expansive & fascinating & while some of the ways the concept is treated in the spiritual community seem a bit creepy (aka cult-ish) to me, the book itself is quite a treat. Inspire by the I-Ching & Human design, it offers the opportunity for a multi layered exploration of fundamental archetypes , with speculative connections to physiology, psychology & important spiritual/religious texts & it pretty much offers the mind & intuition a semi-structure playground with just enough space for your own interpretations & musings. I would totally recommend giving this one a read & also exploring your hologenetic profile. Just for fun. No strings attached. It might give you the opportunity to reflect on your own making in your own terms.
AMAZING- STUNNING, AWESOME - gee, what other adjectives can I use? Really, this is one of the BEST, most comprehensive, insightful books ever written. ANd if you want keys to understand your own human/divine Self, this book can't possibly be beat. A combo of the I Ching and Astrology plus ALL the significant spiritual books ever written, plus ... well PLUS. Truly a classic that will be around for centuries.
I really like the ideas in this book but the writer has a major case of "arrogant white dude". It's pretty apparent that this guy is living in another world when he starts talking about his views on poverty. He oversimplified so much when he didn't really even need to go there. This would have been better if he had left some of his personal views out.
Is the purpose of the constant repetitive statements just to fill up the beautiful white space, is it concepts of NLP in writing what exactly demands these authors to keep going on and on chapters and chapters after the book should have stopped long ago. Do they feel they are not getting their purpose or intent behind the book across so they just keep repeating themselves, or maybe they are getting paid by how many words or pages they write but there comes a time in the book that ENOUGH is ENOUGH. CUT IT OFF. Has the field of editors been filled with quotas that have reduced the whole field to shit. Yes now I am somewhat motivated to write and write to give you just a small taste of what you will or have encountered but alas NO.
I recommend if you are interested in DNA then get a few litters of kittens and watch them from birth. Then get another mother cat and watch both litters and both mothers at the same time then think about Gene Keys.
While I didn't read every single gene key page in the book, I did however, compare the book to my own personal Manifesting Generator 6/2 Human Design. Very insightful, and plenty to contemplate most definitely.
This book is fantastic. It is one to digest slowly and over a lifetime. Annotate heavily and take what resonates. Highly recommend this to be on everyone’s shelf.
Goodness, I find it challenging to begin this review! After decades of focusing on effective leadership, including conducting competency-based research into what differentiates the most effective leaders, it seems quite "woowoo" to be reading a book that is designed to tell me, based on the time, date and location of my birth, more about my higher purpose in the world. I'm not entirely sure I'm ready to reveal my inner mystic to the world.
And yet, here I am.
As it happens, my own chart identifies leadership as my vocation. Phew! Thank goodness for that!
I am finding Richard Rudd's book one to explore rather than one to read sequentially, beginning with reading the chapters relating to my own Gene Keys chart. Each chapter is beautifully written, enabling me to explore my own path - both the path that got me to this point and my forward path.
My hesitations around giving the book a 5 rating rather than a four are two-fold. Firstly, I am at the beginning of an exploration and don't quite know where it will lead me - I mostly reserve a five-star review for books that are truly life changing. And secondly, I confess, I am not yet ready to fully embrace and reveal my mystical self to the world.
Rarely have I encountered a book with such clarity and profundity where the author is virtually unknown. It is clear he was the medium through which this message was written but how he did it or even if he’s fully aware of what he’s done is a puzzle.
I’m not even sure how to summarize this book, it hits on every major theme of humanity’s collective spiritual traditions and ties them all together neatly into an overarching storyline of micro to macro evolution. All of humanity is playing a part in a cosmic theater that is unfolding into higher awareness and every choice made has a purpose beyond our comprehension. Our vision and judgment is extremely limited thus we will never be able to see the grander picture of how everything is fitting together and evolving humanity.
This book functions as a rudimentary map of how those various elements of humanity’s journey feed into each other and ultimately allow us to ease our anxiety around trying to control or understand. Existence is more expansive than our finite language or mental faculties will allow us to comprehend, so we let go, we learn to enjoy the ride, relax and remember that all life is simply play.
Simply fascinating. Whether or not your mind can absorb the premises the book demands of you to absorb - trust me, it’s A LOT - you will still come out dizzy with the possibilities this book inspires.
It’s not a regular book. More like a bible you’ll have to keep retreading & applying into your daily life, minute by minute, a manual for achieving your higher frequencies.
Rudd uses astrology as the basis for determining the holographic profile & then interprets the data in a way never done before. As a mild astrologer, I’m simply overwhelmed by what he’s done in this research. I’m still trying to figure it out.
Obviously if you don’t ‘believe’ in astrology then this book is meaningless to you & you will be missing out enormously. My suggestion is, put your skepticism aside and read this book. Life will never be the same again.
Mixed feelings. I found some of the keys to be uninteresting and long-winded. Perhaps these are not the ones that are important to me on this journey. I also bristled with the text at some points -- there is a lot of borrowing and interpreting of Eastern traditions by a white European man. He may have been gifted some of these traditions by teachers, but some parts still felt 'off' to me in this context. But, I did also feel a significant impact from some of the chapters (keys), and the sequences from my own chart are almost painfully precise hits on my main emotional patterns and life issues (at least at this point -- mid-life). I don't necessarily encourage reading all the way through (and to be fair, neither did the author)! It seemed necessary for me, but then my mind likes to take over and try to collect information. :)
I thought I'd like this book as I'm curious about human design and astrology. As noted in the beginning of using this as potential oracle cards, I'm open to seeing how it plays out. However, upon the first read, this doesn't resonate with me. The information throughout the gene keys had moments of resonation and reflection that I'm sure after practice and use may open up channels within (unlock codes).
However, I felt that other than the information provided with the 64 gene keys, which can be relevant to all people at any time, using it as an understanding of our lives and path based on our birth chart though was confusing and just a way for the author to sell additional programs on his website.
Richard Rudd is truly a scholar, poet and mystic of the highest caliber! His work on Gene Keys is a remarkable extension of Human Design and is a book worthy of lifetime study. The book is written at a very advanced intellectual level and requires knowledge of behavioral sciences and metaphysics for full appreciation of the contents. As a Human Design and Gene Keys consultant I find this book invaluable.
I seriously recommend this book to anyone in search of meaning in their lives. Life is far bigger than our small brains can even imagine. If you are looking to save yourself from yourself then this book is for you.
Heard on YouTube but can’t make heads or tails. 1.5*. Based on Richard Rudd appearing on a much-viewed YouTube channel, I thought I'd read his book and like it as I have an enquiring mind on how the spiritual might impact our lives. This book was a mix of I-Ching, some sort of tarot masquerading as maths, and astrology. What I found out on the first reading is that you need other material to make sense of this audiobook. As I didn’t have it or the time to find it, the entire book, Gene Keys by Richard Rudd, was lost on me.
The 1.5* signify that I didn’t get anything out of this book, but the extra half star is that there is the slightest possibility I might have. I didn’t get what gene keys are all about though I read widely about and listen to podcasts on metaphysics, the upcoming ‘shift of consciousness’ and spirituality.
The material pertaining to the 64 gene keys reads like an astrology chart or Myers-Briggs/ MBTI. So far, so hocus-pocus; or generic descriptors of anyone anywhere. which can be relevant to all people at any time. Obviously, Richard Rudd has sold thousands of his books and make a packet of money. What Gene Keys did not do was increase my understanding of myself or my potential.
This is not just a book that you read. This is a resource for life. It's a manual that integrates spirit with logic and in reading it, it just somehow makes sense, as if it's speaking to some subconscious part of you that just gets it. The I Ching has always been a little intimidating to me, but the Gene Keys is a softer approach, and just as valuable alternative for the I Ching. The Gene Keys has given me the tools to help articulate the nature of self, and the ability to understand the why. I'll often brew some tea in the evening and just pop this book open to wherever it lands... and no matter what, there is always something written there that is worth contemplation, and that can always be applied to my life, and in self discovery in some way. I don't think this book gets enough attention, and I hope many more get the pleasure of reading it.
Seriously. Look I'm leaving an Amazon reveiw to not only help someone see how valuable this book has been in my life but to make sure I'm doing what I ask others to do for my books 🤙🏼 🌈 actually alot of Richard Rudd's ideas influenced my own writing! How divine 😍😍😍😍🌷 ♥️ buy the hardback version cuz you will want to go back thru it a million times, I only have it electronically and its super easy to flip to the individual keys but also a little less satisfying to "look things up in." Have fun! The basis of the gene key community is found in this primary I Ching book, it stands alone yet is awesome to grow from. 😘
I really enjoyed the way different aspects of life had levels from shadow traits through highest traits. I revisit this book a lot when I'm going through difficult periods of life that I'm trying to heal within myself. It's less of a cover to cover read and more of a drop in to specific parts when you're exploring. If you enjoy things like i ching, astrology, human design then you'll enjoy this book!
It's also a great meditation aid you can read before meditation to ruminate on your aspirations. I have also used this for inspiration during my yoga classes to inspire my students with intentions and words of affirmation.
A poetic masterpiece of self realization! Richard Rudd opens a portal to understanding that is beyond the usual mundane "self-help" genre with this book. He guides you gently onto the "middle path"... the path of contemplation. This book merges the Chinese iChing, Human Design, astrology and whatever miraculous download that the author received from the higher realms. There are courses that dovetail with this work at genekeys.com. I highly recommend them. Or simply read the words and watch the magic of your DNA unfold. HIGHLY recommend for all seekers of truth and higher vision. A true transmission for the soul.
This is such a wonderful spiritual path. I've also finished Books 1 and 2 in the Golden Path. About 50 pages into Book 3. They are working on Book 4 right now, which is going to be the Star Pearl, Harmony. Richard Rudd also has other books about Contemplation, the Seven Seals, a book of poetry and prayer, and others. I definitely consider myself to be in the beginning of the 2nd year of a 7 year cycle of spiritual path and renewal. I'm glad to include this as a major part of that cycle, now that it has come into my life. Would definitely recommend this to everyone.
i especially love human design, which i’m aware is what gene key originally built off of. But I feel I don’t resonate as much with gene keys. I prefer human design, so I might let this book go. I don’t really want to reach for this book anymore but i think the perspectives are interesting
If you want to learn more about your gene keys i think tan astrology’s gene key series on youtube is a good alternative
