Barbie loves to teach! In this Step 2 reader based on Mattel's popular I Can Be line, Barbie spends the day in a classroom and learns how to be the best teacher she can be. Girls ages 4 to 6 will want Barbie to be their teacher, too!
If you are getting any of the "I can be.." Barbie books for your child, you HAVE to get this too. I would read this after a bunch of others. It goes into Barbie helping and teaching the kids, but it also touches on each kid wanted to be different things when they grow up. So one kid wanted to write books, one wanted to be a vet. It was great for us because I just read the vet one to my daughter so it was a good overall tie-in.
While I am not a fan of the Barbie series books (not much of a plot, dialogue, weak characters...) my preschooler loves them mainly I believe due to the vivid illustrations and glamorous Barbie fashion and accessories. 1 Star from Mom, 5 from the kid, so we split the difference to 3 stars.
The lesson in this book is a great one for every little girl but it's just that every "girl" we see boys in the class yet none of them get to be that person growing up to be what's discussed. It would of been great to see a mix but over all this was a enjoyable book to read to my daughter.
This book is definitely a good read for any child who loves Barbie. I read it because I personally love Barbie and am soon going to school to be a teacher. I think the message of it is great. The book is short and easy to read, so definitely great for new readers. Overall, it's a cute and inspiring book for children.
(4☆ Would recommend) Cute book. It had a simple storyline. I liked how it introduced what each kids liked & enjoyed then showed how they could make that a career in their future.
This is a cute book about a class that has a new student-teacher. My mom actually bought this for me when I started the program and I thought it would be a cute book to read so that students understand exactly what a student-teacher is and what he/she does. As a future teacher, if I have a student-teacher or intern I would read this to my class before the intern comes so that the class can discuss what a student-teacher is and what to expect when he/she arrives to the classroom.
This is a level 2 book, about mid grade as it wouldn't be super easy but yet not super hard for a level 2 reader to read on their own.
As always Barbie in stills in girls they can do anything they want to believe in they can do. Although there are boys in the classroom the storybook centers in on the girls and 'what they can do' based on their interests.
The Barbie books have been really popular in my library and since it was 10+ years since I read one, I decided to crack open the new book that came in this week.
Say what you will...I found the message that a girl can grow up to be anything, a marine biologist, an astronaut, a chef, a teacher, etc. very hopeful, especially now.

Barbie wants to be a teacher, so she helps at the school. That's nice and all, but what I really enjoyed about this book was reading the children's dreams and aspirations.
