101 Dumb Emergency Calls is a collation of the most stupid and irrelevant calls to the emergency services that have been highlighted in the media in recent times. Mostly from the USA and UK, they bring into sharp focus the extent of the abuse of our critical life-saving services. With cartoons to depict calls and hyperlinks to take the reader to the original audio (some of them released in the public domain by the police and ambulance services in order to show the world how badly a minority of individuals will misuse valuable resources), this book promises to amuse and shock every right-minded person who understands what these services are here for.The author and illustrator are professional front line paramedics, so they know a thing or two about the subject; and from calls to the police for directions to 999 rants about the lack of buses, they have experienced their fair share of such stupidity. You won't believe some of the calls that have been made in the name of personal crisis. You simply won't believe what some people think is an emergency!
The stupidity and laziness of the human race some of them almost in receipt of Darwin awards. If you have no tolerance for stupid do not read this it will have you wanting to tear your hair out in frustration. For the rest of us an easy read with lots of giggles and a few groans.
This is a group of funny stories Many are about calls place to police departments with request for ridiculous srvices. Other are about non life threatening, requests for ambulances.
If you would like a good laugh. Please read. After being in EMS for almost 20 years you want to know what else other people have seen or answered the call too. I would recommend this book.
The book gets an extra star because you get the opportunity to actually hear to someone of the calls. That definitely added more humor. I wish it would have been longer. Just alright for me.
This is a very funny collection of stupid calls to the emergency services, whilst funny, it was also shocking with the array of reasons people feel the need to contact the emergency services.
By no means is this the funniest book I have ever read but it did give me a few chuckles along the way. Short and sweet so good for reading in between books
Such a let down. This book could have probably be good had the author actually done any research. It's like he thought up what would be a stupid reason to call for help. I'm not saying they weren't real reasons, but 2 sentences about it doesn't make it interesting.
