Mastering Multiplication Tables: fun games and activities to play with your child

Rate this book
Learning your multiplication tables can often be difficult. Teaching them to your child can be harder still. This book guides you through the process of teaching your child in a fun and interesting way, and provides a series of worksheets for them to practice what they have learnt under test conditions.

You will initially learn how to teach your child how to understand and learn the times tables through a combination of hands on and visual techniques. Once they have grasped an understanding of each set of number facts, there is a series of 10 games to play to help them to reinforce what they have learnt. Some of these games require little or no preparation. At the end of the kindle edition of the book there is though a link to a series of printable resources that are required to play the others; whereas the paperback version includes them within the book itself.

There are also sets of questions on each of the times tables within each version of the book, with further tests included with the downloadable resources, so that you can check that your child can recall the multiplication facts in a test situation. Once this stage has been completed your child should have a secure understanding of their times tables and be able to use them confidently.

A quick read with links to the game printables. Some tips on sequence to learn the tables, as well as looking for patterns, using math manipulative and saying it but not as much help as I thought it would be. A lot of the tips I got already from Math U See Gamma level, as well as a homeschool math lady blogger, and both of these were more thorough than this book. The Times Tales stories also helped. This is nice for more game ideas, however.
