Đây là một trong những manga yêu thích của mình. Nó có tất cả những thứ mà mình thích trộn lẫn vào nhau rất mượt:
- Manga về ẩm thực, cụ thể là món ăn truyền thống Nhật Bản.
- 80% nói về ẩm thực, từ nguyên liệu, cách trồng, cách thu hoạch, cho tới cách chế biến. Có cả công thức =))
- Khai thác chi tiết chuyện rất đỉnh. Manga này có những chi tiết nhỏ nhỏ cực đáng yêu, nhưng không phải kiểu đáng yêu kư tê, kiểu này khác, rất khác.
- Mặc dù như một cuốn cẩm nang nấu ăn và từ vựng về ẩm thực truyền thống Nhật Bản, song đây lại hông phải là sách ẩm thực, đây là một câu chuyện tình yêu ^^, từ yêu thiên nhiên, yêu gia đình, yêu đôi lứa đến yêu cả truyền thống văn hóa. Voãi thế :))
Đặc biệt là cách sống của cả cái làng trong truyện thì thiệt là đỉnh, làm ăn sao mà tới bây giờ vẫn giữ được một cái rừng bao quanh làng. Cuối truyện thì mới thấy, hóa ra làng này ít dân quá, ít đến nỗi trường học trong làng phải đóng cửa luôn. Thế nên muốn sống hài hòa với thiên nhiên thì phải đẻ ít lại ^^

I saw the 2018 Korean film adaptation of this manga and absolutely loved it, so I thought I'd give the source material a read. "Little Forest" is a slice-of-life story stuffed with recipes, farmland, the countryside, and a slow, gentle meditation on the links between food and memory. Igarashi does such a beautiful job at illustrating the wilderness of nature and the personalities of each season that it's easy to fall right into the pages. Same with the food - it's drawn and talked about with such tenderness that you can tell the author cares a lot about these things. My favorite parts were actually the two pages at the end of each chapter that included photographs from Igarashi and his own cooking and farming experiences; those aspects remind me of food memoirs like “Relish” by Lucy Knisley.
If I had to pick, I’d say I actually enjoyed the film more than the book, but only because the screen really gives the story a chance to be just packed with sounds and sensory experiences that bring the little forest alive. If you watch the film and are craving more then definitely read this!

“Esta es la vida diaria de una muchacha llamada Ichiko quien vive sola en el campo rodeada de bosques. Cada capítulo presenta un platillo o comida preparado con ingredientes que Ichiko obtiene en los campos y alrededores del asentamiento de Komori”.
Este manga me brindó una sensación de profunda paz y felicidad. Ha sido una de las experiencias de lectura más gratificantes que he tenido este año, si no la mejor. La conexión que establecí con cada página fue verdaderamente hermosa y en ocasiones me conmovió hasta las lágrimas. Al igual que Ichiko, mi vida en el campo me llena de alegría y aprecio enormemente la serenidad que se respira aquí. No hay nada más gratificante que participar en el proceso de sembrar, cosechar y cocinar nuestras propias verduras. Recomiendo encarecidamente este manga para aquellos que buscan momentos de tranquilidad. Además, la película basada en Little Forest es igualmente hermosa y se ha convertido en una de mis favoritas.

This was sort of like a gender-bent version of The Walking Man, with a focus on cooking local dishes. It was a relaxing and quick read. Each chapter is about a specific recipe and an experience or memory tied in with it, sort of like a meditation.
I’m happy I finally got to read Igarashi’s other work. I love Children of the Sea so much. Happy to know Igarashi’s always got a consistent enjoyment level for me.

LOVE IT! Never have I seen such beautiful manga about living in a village, farming and cooking your own food... I recommend it to everyone, even if you don't love farming or village, you will come to live and love this beautiful and sweet manga. I have read all of it's volumes (online) and I just want to buy the original so I can have my children read it one day.

Hay quá hay 👏👏👏
Mình vốn không định mua sách vì đã xem phim rồi và phim thì được làm quá đỉnh. Nhưng mà đi hội sách không kiềm lòng được nên mua mất rồi và giờ thì không hối hận chút nào. Nét vẽ đẹp nhưng không phải kiểu chau chuốt tỉa tót cẩn thận, cảm giác khá phóng khoáng, lộn xộn và có phong cách riêng, và vẽ phong cảnh thì đặc biệt đẹp. Trong sách xuất hiện nhiều món ăn hơn ở phim, cảm giác đem lại cũng khác nhau nhưng tựu trung lại vẫn là một bầu không khí bình dị, nhẹ nhàng, trong trẻo và ấm áp tình người ở ngôi làng nhỏ Komori. Và dù phim hay sách thì mình vẫn thích Yuta chết mất, người đâu vừa khỏe mạnh, cao lớn, đẹp trai, chăm chỉ lại còn có quan điểm sống hết sức hay ho chứ. Ở Komori và ở ngoài đó, cách người ta nói chuyện không giống nhau. Em không nói về vấn đề phương ngữ. Mà là thế này, chỉ khi nói về trải nghiệm của chính bản thân và những cảm nhận, suy nghĩ trong lúc trải nghiệm, lời nói mới có giá trị. Em rất kính trọng những người có nhiều trải nghiệm như thế. Và cũng tin tưởng họ. Còn càng là những kẻ chẳng làm gì mà ra vẻ ta đây biết tuốt, toàn bê thành quả của người khác từ chỗ nọ sang chỗ kia, thì lại càng kiêu căng. Em phát chán vì phải nghe những lời sáo rỗng của lũ người hời hợt đó. Em ấy mà, rất ghét phải sống một cuộc đời bắt kẻ khác giết chóc, sau đó lại than phiền về cách họ thực hiện. Sau khi rời khỏi nơi này, em mới thực sự cảm thấy kính trọng người dân ở Komori và cha mẹ mình. Vì họ đang sống một cuộc sống mà có thể nói ra những lời thật sự có cơ sở.

Simple, a vivid and beautiful story of a girl living in the small mountain village after taking a shot at settling down in the city. She comes back to her village and lives in the house rented by her mother along with a farming land. She grows her own food and makes awesome dishes that complement the seasons she lives for a year... I love the illustration of the forest, farms, life of a farmer, the complications, and difficulties faced by farmers and people living in Japanese mountain regions.

my god, there was like no developed relationships, the main character's personality is just a cookbook or a farming handbook. stakes in gourmet manga are usually based on tensions in relationships and the main characters' interiority, but the only conflict was whether a crop was gonna come in well or if a dish tasted any good. which you know, that's great, I love that being the only main conflict in someone's life, but aughhhhh, it's so boring if it's the only one and it's for 33 chapters--at least develop other things about your young, disillusioned protag!

Petite Forêt est un recueil de petites histoires illustrées qui nous raconte la vie de tous les jours d'une jeune femme de retour dans son village natal après avoir eu du mal à s'adapter à la vie en ville. Elle va y retrouver des ami.e.s d'enfance, de son âge et de la génération de sa mère. Ce village vit à l'ancienne, en quasi autonomie au niveau alimentaire, les journées sont donc remplies par des activités agricoles, semis, entretien, récoltes, conservation, et cuisine des produits récoltés. Chaque petite histoire est donc l'occasion de traiter d'un aliment et d'une façon traditionnelle de le préparer.
Le personnage principal est féminin comme très souvent avec Higarashi, qui a une faculté assez incroyable de valoriser naturellement l'énergie féminine et la résilience des femmes. Il y a bien un petit ami laissé à la vielle, une mère absente et un background très léger, mais là n'est pas le propos de l'oeuvre.
Car il s'agit ici de carnets semi autobiographiques, relatant une période où l'auteur lui-même, ne trouvant plus sa place en ville et ne sachant plus quelle direction donner à sa vie, est retourné dans sa région natale pendant quelques temps.
C'est une lecture agréable, apaisante, qui incite à renouer avec une façon simple de vivre, qui invite à observer chaque détail de la nature bienveillante qui nous entoure, et qui donne des envies de cuisine ;)
Visuellement c'est comme toujours de toute beauté. Le trait délicat pour nous faire découvrir des plantes et fleurs anciennes, les visages expressifs, l'ambiance des saisons parfaitement restituée. Une vraie merveille.

四五年前的时候看过电影，直观体会是非常馋里面的美食。这次看了漫画带给我更多新的体会，电影中没看懂的部分市子的那支舞想表达什么，读完这本漫画后得到了答案，还唤起了我童年和爷爷奶奶乡村生活的回忆：一些农具的用途、种菜讲究的诀窍、卷心菜上那绿色虫到菜蝶的蜕变…… 庄子云“天地与我共生，而万物与我为一”，简单日出而作日落而息农耕生活。用劳动的汗水和智慧种出的果实维持生命体征的延续。物质文明高度发达的今天，越来越多的人失去土地远离故土，成为庞大工业机器运作下的零部件。但每个人内心总会残留一份对大自然亲近的渴望，这样的淳朴简单的生存状态怎么会不让人有一丝丝向往呢。对现代生活方式的隐性抗拒，无一不满足了我们对田园牧歌的想象，这个远离都市喧嚣的风景如画小森，寄予了居住在这里的人的情感，五十岚大介写农作物种植经验，农具的使用和用途，写烹饪美食方法及食谱。画风粗糙随意没有华丽的场景以及辞藻，没有精致的厨房，整本漫画注入了对食物的满满虔诚，对大自然的敬畏与感恩。 与吉本芭娜娜的《厨房》一样，女主角市子也在烹饪中疗愈了受伤的心灵。市子小时候被指使做过多的家务而产生怨恨“对于妈妈而言，我真的算是家人吗？”到现在回到小森一个人独自生活，炒青菜始终炒不出妈妈的味道，等到发现秘密是去掉青菜的茎丝，“原来，妈妈一直在很用心地做菜。”虽然妈妈五年前离家出走不辞而别，但市子一道一道的料理中少不了妈妈的味道，她吸取了妈妈的经验做法并加以创新做出新的美味佳肴。因为在小森生活渐渐读懂了妈妈的来信，最后汲取能量以新的姿态重新出发。

Câu chuyện xoay quanh cuộc sống tự cung tự cấp của cô gái trẻ qua 4 mùa ở một miền quê Nhật Bản, chủ yếu truyền tải các kiến thức về ẩm thực và làm nông ở Nhật, chi tiết và tỉ mỉ. Nhịp truyện chậm rãi, nhẹ nhàng và yên ả với cốt truyện đơn giản, tâm lí nhân vật cũng không quá phức tạp. Cá nhân mình khi đọc thì thấy rất phục sự chăm chỉ, siêng năng và chịu khó tìm cách thích ứng với thiên nhiên, điều kiện thời tiết khắc nghiệt của các nhân vật, cảm giác như đang nhìn các cụ ngày xưa vậy :)) Box set truyện của IPM chất lượng tốt, giá cũng hợp lí, tuy nhiên mình nghĩ sẽ kén người đọc vì nét vẽ khá rối, thi thoảng nhìn còn hơi cẩu thả. Xem phim tất nhiên sẽ sinh động và hấp dẫn hơn nhiều nhiều, nếu recommend thì mình sẽ vẫn recommend phim hơn hi ^^

I cannot give this manga four stars for some reason. Well, it may seem because it belongs to the slice-of-life genre, which rarely leaves me with astonishment after reading. But, it indeed has a healing effect on me. Little forest showed me another aspect of reality escape. Running away is not easy, and maybe cottage core can help lol. Deep down inside, I stuck with the feeling of wanting to get away from people. Then, it will not be possible because, as an urban parasite, I know that I have to stick with the people around me—people with benefits. I guess I just feel relieved after finishing this manga—a fresh experience.

I appreciated that the art style was different, even if it wasn't particularly to my tastes. I enjoyed learning about Ichigo's life but it also made me a little sad? This isn't a light-hearted, slice of life manga about life in the countryside. This is about real struggles - in farm life as well as her personal life. It definitely doesn't glamorize country living, which is a good thing (but I want my dream cottagecore life without having to deal with bugs and natural disasters danggit).

Có lẽ vì đã quá sức yêu thích bộ phim little forest nên komori ở bản truyện này dường như vẫn còn thiêu thiếu đối với mình. Âm thanh, màu sắc, chuyển động của thiên nhiên, con người hay cảm quan về mùi vị một món ăn có lẽ sẽ dễ cảm hơn khi được đưa lên phim. Và thật ra nét vẽ của truyện khá rối nên cá nhân mình không thích lắm. Nhưng vô tình bắt gặp một câu thoại yêu thích từ phim trong truyện như "lạnh là một vị cần thiết" hay "không thể sống nếu thiếu cà chua được" vẫn làm mình thấy nhẹ nhõm. 4 sao cho ichiko và komori, trừ 1 sao vì mình không thể cảm được nét vẽ của truyện :)

Mình đọc cuốn này rất rất rất lâu. Thỉnh thoảng giở ra đọc một chút, ngắm nghía tranh vẽ rồi gấp lại. Mình thích xem phim hơn, nhưng quả thực có nhiều phần cảm xúc được truyện dẫn dắt hay hơn, dễ hiểu hơn. Một manga đáng đọc. Khi đọc trang về cỏ dại, mình lại nhớ khi mình thực sự dành ra 3 ngày nhổ cỏ dại toàn thời gian, mình mới hiểu được hết nhọc nhằn của những người làm nông. Và cũng hiểu được cứu chữa mà những công việc đó mang lại cho tâm trí con người. Phải trải qua, phải làm mới hiểu. Đọc không hiểu được, mà khi làm rồi, qua rồi, đọc thấy vui hơn, hiểu hơn.

Đọc xong cứ có cảm giác một dòng nước suối thanh mát trong lành đang len lỏi, róc rách khắp mọi nơi trong cơ thể tôi, vừa yên bình vừa đẹp đẽ.

Timeless. Beautiful art and recipes accompany life in Komori. The attention to detail in the surrounding nature makes Little Forest feel like it belongs in the tradition of Thoreau, Leopold and Berry, but the personal journey reminds me at times of Eat, Pray, Love. Little Forest is uniquely Japanese however, and the manga presentation is perfect for the subject matter.

I read this manga because I am in a slump and one of my fave cozy movies is based off of this book. I can say for me this is one of the rare times the movie is a better medium for the story than the book.
