This book was amazing! I enjoyed every bit of it. The story had me going through a combination of emotions. At one point I was dying laughing from the hilarious scenes, then there were times when I was just so ticked off at some of the stupid decisions these women would make, or allow these men to put them through. There were moments when the situation was so sad, I just wanted to cry. It was just that good. There were times when I thought I was watching a soap opera on TV. I was impressed with the way the characters came to life as they interacted on the page. These big girls really went for theirs. They each had a personality all of their own, but they each shared one characteristic in common, they had no limits and refused to like a skinny girl out shine them in any given situation. They were determined to be successful in every venture. There was no shame to their game. I thought the conclusion gave the story a nice twist. I have to admit, I figured it out before the end of the story, but it still gave way to a unspeakable close. After the writer didn't allow him to have an affair with his wife's sister, Toya, this was the next best thing. Big Girls Need Love was the first story that I read by Rukyyah, and will not be the last. I plan to dig right into Big Girls Need Love Too, and complete the series as soon as possible. What a magnificent page turner! I'm sure Rukyyah won't disappoint with the remainder of the series.
This is the story to read. These 3 woman will make u laugh and cry as each share their ups and downs, joy and pain, or in Lauren case sex+ someone husband= DRAMA!!! This is a book I can read again. Can't wait for pt2. The author Rukyyah did her Thang with this one. Must add their are a few minor errors in book.
This was my first time reading anything from this author. When i first started this book i was like hmm its taking me awhile to get into it, i think it was because it was doing a little back and forth, but after like the first few chapters it really takes off and you are just drawn in by Toya, Lauren and Terisha, all who are big women who are searching for love or have love and are trying to make it work. I enjoyed this book because it was different it wasnt about a typical skinny chick it was about big independent women going through some issues with their love lives. The author did a great job of showing just because someone is big doesnt mean they cant have swag and be sexy.
I think I liked Toya the most she was a little naive at times but once she got it together she had it together. Lauren was a hot mess thats what ill say about her! Terisha was very judgemental but the way the book ended i guess will have her thinking about stuff twice.
Im going to read part 2 because i need to see what will happen!
This is the story of three BBW, big beautiful women. Even though these women are plus-sized nothing stops them from living their lives. Toya has been so unlucky in love, she is wondering will she ever find true love. Tershia, Toya's sister, is the envy of their crew only they don't know that everything that glitters is not gold. Lauren rather have the money then the love of a man. Who will be lucky in love and who will have their heartbroken?
I really enjoyed this story from beginning to end. There were some parts that did not seem to flow smoothly from one scene to the next. The characters were perfectly developed and I felt like I knew each one of them. I will definitely read the next installment to see how things play out.
I loved the fact that this book contained characters that were not the normal 5'9, 120 lbs, long haired light skinned females that have become so popular in urban fiction. The storyline got my attention from page 1 and it held my attention to the end. Big girls need love was full of drama and "oh hell to the naw" moments. Lauren was a big girl who used what she had to get what she wanted. Toya was looking to be loved and looking for it in all the wrong places. Tershia was perceived as the level headed one who had everything, when in reality she craved the lives that the other girls lived. I enjoyed going on each characters drama, heart ache and relationship filled journey and I cant wait to get into part 2.
This was the first book that I've read buy this author and I must say I was totally impressed with this book. The story line was relatable, this type of things happens daily. I was thrilled to know that Toya got what she so deserved and that was happiness. However, the friend was a bonafied gold-digger and saw nothing but money. The sister was a bit harsh at times and but I saw and understood where she was coming from, but by the same token she that that trouble would never darken her door. I truly enjoy this book and will be reading the others in the series to see what happens next. Thanks for doing what you do to keep us entertained
The idea of this book is good. The execution...not so much. As readers follow the romantic and sexual lives of three friends, the stories are entertaining. Yet, there is no clear reason for the specification of big girls and in the places that size is mentioned, it's off putting and distracting. The various men/elation ships were somewhat over the top in places, leaving the question of why no one could be faithful and happy. With ALL of the drama and chaos, the story itself just left much to be desired.
I was very excited to read this book because the main characters are "real" women. Unfortunately, the story was just ok. There was nothing special going on, and to be honest some parts were predictable. The writing seemed sort of juvenile. I didn’t necessarily feel a connection to any of the characters. I will go on to read the second installment but doubt if I will go past that.
The story was alright. I liked the different story lines but the ending was stupid. The only who grew was Toya. It wasn't well written but the author gave it a good try. I will not read part two .
