In this book it starts off a few months from when the first book ended. Kellan was still on his quest, his families quest. Lily was figuring her powers and trying to figure out how to get herself back into London society, and she does sort, and not in the way you were expecting either. Greyston was still pining for Lily but yet keeping her at arms length, though a decision is made that in the end he regrets, but won't do nothing about because of a secret he feels will him and Lily's relationship.
I liked this book because the story keeps you involved, the writing is great, and the character`s are characters you can get involved with, and get to know and grow with.
What I didn't like about this book is it just didn't seem long enough, I wish there was more. Also one of the major decisions that was made I was totally against and I hope one day it will be rectified, in upcoming.
This is the second book in this series and it is just getting better and thrilling and madding! I just want to hit Greyston over the head with a baseball bat and shake some since into Lily! Sorry I just had to get that out of my system.
Ms. Robyns creates a dark and dangerous alternate world of Victorian England. It's imaginative, exciting, and oh so much fun!
I am looking forward to books 3 and 4, can't wait to see how Ms. Robyns sets everything to right, save the world and find true love❤
I enjoyed this book of strange steam powered machines and demons. Lily, the heroine,is interesting. Gray ton one of the heroes is mysterious and Kaplan, the other hero is also mysterious.
In A MATTER OF PROPRIETY AND PARASITES (DARK MATTERS Book 2), we take up Lady Lily d’Bulier’s story and the fight against demons in a Victorian England that is dark, dangerous and dashing.
Ms Robyns’ writing style is maturing wonderfully – there is the same imaginative world building, fast pace and character development that we saw in Book 1 of this seriesA Matter of Circumstance and Celludrones.
In addition, there is a confidence in the style of this book that shows up as a thrilling (and often funny!) tension between the characters, a risky battle to save the world from the rising demons and a final scene that had me holding my breath and turning the pages as fast as I could!
Even if you haven’t read Book 1, this book is an excellent read as it has enough background information for a new reader to follow the story and get to know the characters. For someone who’s read the first book, there’s much more new stuff to read as well! Lily grows up and grows bold, Lord Greyston Adair makes a difficult choice about Lily and the delicious Kelan McAllister … well. I can’t tell what he does because that will give away too much of the plot.
Add to all of this an exciting cover and a well-formatted, well-edited book and this is another great read from someone who is fast becoming a favourite romance author.
I really like how it continues on a few months later. I love getting to know these characters better and the story was pretty good. I liked the first book more. I can't believe what Greyston did or more like didn't do, interesting twist. The end was fantastic and looking forward to reading the next one.
