It's an interesting mix.

If you are looking for an origin of Christmas book, this isn't the book for you. There is, however, a good origin chapter. Some of the prose is wonderful, there are wonderful satires, BUT... the poetry, in the main, is kind of awful. Nonetheless it's nice to read it for the period feel.
