He has her heart. But can he claim her love?

A notorious assassin for the Queen of Hearts, Rabb Silverhope has never had trouble making women fall for him so he could steal their hearts for the Queen to eat.

Until he captures Allie's.

But that's not her real name.

A blank slate, "Allie" doesn't remember who she is. She doesn't know how she arrived in the mystical Land of Wünder. She doesn't know how to return to her world. Except that she must.

Allie's blank heart is the special on the Queen's menu.

But curiouser still, it appears to hold the key to unlocking the secrets of Rabb's own veiled past.

Can Allie stay immune to Rabb's charms long enough to find her way home? Can Rabb resist her temptation or will he sacrifice her heart for his own?

TRAPPED BY CLOCKS AND HEARTS is one of ten books in the Enemies Ever After series, a collection of standalone short novels featuring enemies-to-lovers fairy tale retellings with a touch of steam.

Allie - She was such a sweet character. I loved her personality, and how even tho she had no memories her body knew what she could do and what not. She was impossible not to love.
Rabb - Made me giggle so many times lol. I loved how cocky he was keeping himself and yet his charms were failing right when he needed them.
The cat - Loved it! I forgot it's name lol, but I loved the companion in this book.

The world-building was a mix between Alice in Wonderland and gaslamp (in my opinion). I loved the world description from the tower to the MadHat's place. Loved that feeling of a fever dream where you're not sure what's real and what not.

⮞ 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐈 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞𝐝/𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞𝐝 ⮜
I loved the scenes between Rabb and Allie. His cockiness didn't work on Allie and the scenes between the two were so hilarious. Her jabs towards him and their banter were delicious. Loved the animal companion in the story and also the extra characters they made this story so much more interesting.

⮞ 𝐒𝐩𝐢𝐜𝐞/TW ⮜
There were some fighting scenes in the story but nothing in it triggered me. The spice i'd say is round 3 pepper flames on my scale.

I loved this and devoured most of it in a single sitting. The Alice in Wonderland story pieces were sprinkled throughout really nicely while making this its own story. I loved Allie as a scientist, constantly curious and carrying who-knows-what in her lab coat pockets. This was only from Rabb's point of view, which was a nice change, but it also added to Allie's character because he never knew what shenanigans she was going to get herself into until she was knee deep.

I really hope that Breaker writes more stories in this world. I have a lot of questions and would love to see the Dormouse incident and the Queen of Hearts' backstory.

Welcome to Wünder. This isn't the Wonderland you know.

I hate the word unputdownable; it feels clunky and overused. However, I can't think of a better word to describe this book. It was a short, loose retelling of Alice in Wonderland, and it kept me engaged from page one.

Rabb is a powerful sorcerer and an assassin for the Queen. Allie is a curious scientist who has fallen into the world with no memories. When Rabb steals her heart while out on a mission, the two become tied together.

There was a fantastic balance of unique worldbuilding and familiarity. I felt like I could see everything so vividly; the author did a wonderful job of showing rather than telling. And of course, enemies to lovers is a trope that will always hook me.

Rabb is a case of, if my friend started to fall for a guy who talked to her like that in the beginning, I would absolutely tell her to get tf away from him. But since he's fictional, he gets a pass.

And, as is typical for me, my favorite character was Chez. 😉

I received an ARC of this book; all thoughts are my own.

This was such an intriguing and unique Alice in Wonderland retelling! I absolutely loved it! At first, I wasn't a fan of the MC, but the reasoning behind his behavior and attitude was quickly explained, and the author really made it work for the story. This was an absolutely fantastic read! I read the spice-free version, and it was just perfect for me. Kudos to the author for making two slightly different versions! I love that so much 💜

I absolutely loved this Alice in Wonderland romantasy retelling! It was such a unique twist on the classic story. The FMC, Allie, is an intelligent, witty, and brave scientist. The MMC, Rabb, is a heartless assassin for the Queen of Hearts - until he steal Allie’s heart - literally and figuratively. I adored their snarky banter and their journey from enemies to allies to lovers. The side characters were lovable, too. Chez was such an adorably snarky Cheshire cat!

The story was full of twists, turns, and surprises that kept me captivated with each page turn. I finished this book in one sitting! I highly recommend this for Alice and Wonderland fans who are looking for a fun retelling with a sprinkling of door-partially-open spice.

Spice 2🌶🌶

This is an Alice in Wonderland romantasy retelling! It is part of the Enemies Ever After series. However this one was such a unique twist on the classic story. You are taken to Wünder, but this isn't the wonderland you remember. The FMC, Allie, is an intelligent, witty, and brave scientist. The MMC, Rabb, is a heartless assassin for the Queen of Hearts until he steals Allie’s heart both literally and figuratively.

This was such a great story that I didn't want to stop reading but unfortunately I had to adult so was unable To read in one sitting otherwise I reckon I would have. I highly recommend this book.

This book was hard to put down! I only wished I hadn’t started reading late in the evening.

I am usually not one to enjoy fairy tale re-tellings but this one had me hooked from the beginning with it’s vivid world building and quirky, but lovable characters.

Alice in Wonderland with enemies-to-lovers and a kind of slow burn as well. There were some brief moments of, shall we call it, steam? It was just enough to move the story along. I want more of the story of Allie and Rabb, what happens next?!

I would like to thank S.L. Breaker for the ARC and the opportunity to read this Wunderful story! All opinions expressed are my own!

A very unique retelling of Alice and Wonderland. We get to meet several of the characters we have read about all our lives. But now the adventure is way more dangerous and her white rabbit is nothing like you would expect. The story is told from his point of view. Allie is our lost young woman and through Rabb’s eyes we get to see what a special person she is and also a mystery to solve. The two will face danger and death to solve their mystery. We get our Cheshire Cat, the Hatter and several more. The Queen will also be a big part. So sit back and enjoy the adventure as we are all mad here.

The first half was a bit confusing. I get that it's setting the scene to understand the world and the characters, but I found it almost too descriptive, making it slightly confusing . However, the last half I finished in just over a day.

This was a fun twist on Alice in Wonderland. I enjoyed Rabb’s character a lot, but I wish Allie got a little more development as well. I absolutely loved the Cheshire Cat, Chez. He was a really fun character, and his interactions with Rabb were great. Trapped by Clocks and Hearts was a super quick read and another great installment in the Enemies Ever After standalone series. I will absolutely be checking out the other books as well, as this is the second in this series that I’ve enjoyed!

Thank you S.L. Breaker for the ARC of Trapped by Clocks and Hearts! All opinions are my own.

I thoroughly enjoyed this rendition of “Alice in Wonderland” remake/retelling. An adult version with subtle romance, enemies-ish to lovers vibes. The writing is very easy to follow, I was only confused at the beginning of the story when being introduced to the MMC and MFC who was who but quickly figured it out shortly after. Throughout this whole story I pictured it being such a fun T.V show with the different Wunder realms, thank you so much for giving me the opportunity to read your story.

I love reading Alice In Wonderland retellings, and this one blew me away! This ARC Read was one of my quickest, I couldn't put it down! Allie is strong-willed, funny, and brave. Chez was a fun version of the Cheshire Cat. Rabb's POV during the entire story made it very interesting. The slow burn was soooo good, and the spicy end was even better! I loved it!

I absolutely adored this book and once I began, I just could not put it down. It’s all the madness you expect from an Alice in Wonderland retelling, but the characters are infused with a new spark of life making them iconic in their own right. A thrilling ride and just enough spice to keep me hooked to the end.

I received an ARC copy and while I had a wonderful time, all opinions are my own

Outstanding!

This is the best Wonderland story that I have read. First, I love that this first person narrative is masculine, Rabb, the sorcerer who finds Allie. It's straightforward and a mile better than most first person female narrators. Allie is a scientist who has lost her memories of her former life in the other world. Then there's Chez, the Cheshire cat as entertaining as can be, and the good friend to Rabb. It all culminates in the final chapters where the Queen of Hearts gets what she deserves. Bravo to the creativity and masterful storytelling of the authors!

This is such a great retelling of Alice in wonderland. Adventure, romance, and humor. I loved how the author included all the characters we know from Alice in wonderland, her take on the Mad Hatter was different, I liked seeing a darker side of him instead of the usual goofy guy. Wonderland itself was interesting and I would love it if the author could find a way to make a series based in this world. I also loved how the “curiosity” played out for Allie in this story, she’s a scientist so she’s curious about everything in Wunder. I’d say the spice level is 2 near the end but the book is mostly clean.

Came upon a line that really bugged me in the prologue." Arnt you supposed to leave the bodies where they were?" The cat drawled. Infact, as I was reading more of the prologue, I noticed many spelling mistakes. Gamatically, I'm not very good but it is distracting when I have to spell the word correctly before I can move on reading.
I really enjoyed reading this short book. Anything with animals is a winner. It has such a beautiful cover and each chapters has beautiful pictures. I was transported into this story from the beginning.
It did feel that rabb having every woman fall for him except Allie was abit like the TV series of Lucifer. I love bad jokes and I actually laughed. Totally worth 5 🌟

Alice in Wonderland reimagined! Such fun! Plus, I love that whole not being able to rip Ali’s heart out for the queen scenario because there’s a connection there; nice bit of enemies to more, which I enjoy in romances. Enjoy a bit of redemption for a “bad guy” with a hidden good heart. Plus, the Alice in Wonderland-esque world is fun. Enjoyed this story!

Trapped by Clocks and Hearts by S.L. Breaker is a retelling on Alice in Wonderland. Except in this case she doesn't remember her name or how she got to Wunder. Also Rabb is an assassin for the Queen of Hearts. I enjoyed reading and I know others will too. Expected release date is the first week of July

I was given an advanced readers copy and asked for a review in exchange. I did not receive any compensation for this review.

Alice in wonderland is my favorite story. And this retelling was amazing. I never knew what to expect or where the story was going and I was captivated and entertained the whole time. I would love to see more stories in this universe - I think Wunder has so much more to share with us. But even if not, I will definitely read more from this author.

It was so enjoyable to see the authors interpretation of famous characters throughout the story and see how they intertwined with the storytelling.

Wünderful Story!!!!!

As a rule, I pretty much hate Alice in Wonderland- well, the live action movie for sure. So I’m always hesitant to try a retelling. I’m extraordinarily pleased to report that I loved this retelling!! And further kudos for being one of the best stories in this series!!! Bravo to Allie and Rabb for finding each other’s hearts through their curious and curiouser adventures in the land of Wünder!!

I wasn’t positive I was going to be super interested in this book because I rarely read fairytale retellings but I was absolutely wrong. The characters were extremely interesting and the world building really pulls you in

Prepare to enter a completely immersive world filled with brilliant magical chaos. I loved it! This book transported me to wonderland with characters who each shone as brightly as the next (although there's a special place for Chez, the Cheshire cat, at the top of that list;) - his comedic timing is impeccable)

A delish adult Alice in Wonderland enemies-to-lovers retelling where the grump assassin gets the girl

A cautionary tale of where the unchecked curiosity might get a nuclear scientist (or some authors) - to her doom or to wondrous adventures in Wünder.

What if the Queen of Hearts needed hearts to survive and her fave assassin had to seduce peeps to source those hearts for her? What if the Hatter was the keeper of 1000 doors? What if eating both sides of the mushroom is exactly what is sounds like (would get you high)? What if the key on the table is not to get into, but out of Wünderland?

Rabb goes to harvest yet another heart for the Queen and finds a girl in between life and death in a cave. When Allie comes to, her heart now beats inside Rabb and she’s not sure how she got to Wünder. Or how to get out of it.

A proper Alice in Wonderland retelling that follows all the key elements of the story bar some workarounds and magnificent twists.

While this book follows the canons of enemies-to-lovers, it also turns them upside down. Forget about goody-two-shoes FMC who pines after the bad boy MMC. We have Allie who suspects she might have not been a good person in her previous life and is the only one who is immune to the grumpy but lascivious MMC. Rabbit, duh. Loved that Rabb was embarrassed of his bunny animal form and sooo in denial of his feelings that it doesn’t dawn on him even after he says, and I quote: “Touch her and die.” Allie and Rabb were a match made in heaven - a rational scientist and an assassin devoid of feelings but their tug of will-they-wont-they was fab! Loved all the author’s versions of the supporting cast as well - the Duchess, the Hatter, the Queen of Hearts. And the HEA and sizzle scene - aww & hot dang… Hoping for book 2, though coz of the obvious hook. An unputdownable pageturner of a read where the grump gets the girl despite or maybe because of his shortcomings. And that surprise twist in the end - yum!

I also love how this indie author can write equally well scifi (just read another one of her books in this genre) and adult fairytale retellings. Will definitel ly keep an eye out for her romantasy and scifi books in the future.

Recommended for lovers of dark enemies-to-lovers romantasy and Alice in Wonderland retellings.

What this story confirmed for me, is that, while I never have liked the story of Alice in Wonderland, and I still don't, IS THAT I DID and DO love this story! THIS is the only version of Alice in Wonderland I'd read!I loved what the author did with the dark twisting, the characters, just as bizarre as the original, she completely drew me away from a story I disliked and made me salivate over Rabb! Yep, Rabb is oh so rad! Chez is so rad! This book is oh so rad!

Ok, so, we have a hardened assassin, who uses his wiles to entice young women right into his clutches, yes, clutches...his task is to bring their hearts to the Queen of Hearts. Well heck, of course he does! SHE needs them to survive! Except when he discovers Allie. Now he faces a personal challenge, does he or doesn't he. Oh boy, that battle within him was so cool to read about, his confusion as to why THIS girl is totally immune to his very powers. I caught myself giggling a few times at his innermost thoughts and his antics! A twist of....fate...has him not completely in control of his....heart! Literally! Dear heavens did I love his denial! Dear heavens did I love him! He's also not the callous person he outwardly portrays and I loved the nuances the author spun.

This young woman who causes all the mayhem within him, is herself confused as to where she is, why she is and who she is! We discover she's a curious scientist who unexpectedly, finds herself in a whole new world, meeting the weirdest creatures. Being a scientist, she of course tries to rationalise everything, but some things are not so easily explained. Such as what she feels for Rabb... I love her curiosity and her sassy, feisty nature! No wide-eyed damsel in distress here, she gives as good as she gets! She and Rabb danced around each other so beautifully, I found myself saying out loud "get to it already!" And when they did, good golly did the sparks fly! So so yummy I wanted seconds!

The ingenuity of the author in showcasing all the wacky characters just felt so darn right! From the Queen to all the weird and wonderful, to Rabb, Allie and Chez, THIS book was so humourous, so exceptionally well written, so deliciously sensual, I forgot I was reading a retelling of a classic I never liked. Now, if only the original Alice in Wonderland was remotely similar as this version....I, the sceptic, want more of THIS version!
