Thanks to the author for an ARC of this book. I have chosen to write this honest review voluntarily and it reflects my personal opinion.
This has been a fantastic series from the start. The character of Larissa, a vampire and witch is complex and her behaviours, thoughts and emotions are conveyed so well as she learns more about herself, develops her magic and falls in love. Sam, her daughter, was born at the end of the last book and this book intertwines her story with Larissa's as they break the boundaries of what has been known about the paranormal abilities of their kind. Larissa visits new-to-her ancient worlds and David's descriptions transport the reader to his imagination, 'amazing' and 'incredible' don't do his writing justice. There are comical moments with Larissa's acerbic wit, loads of surprises throughout the story, and a very touching, emotional finale.
Everything from the magnificent cover to the final page is superbly-crafted, a fascinating paranormal ending to this battle between fantasy characters. It is essential to read the books in order because so much happens, they're full of action!
