Soulfare is an action packed high fantasy romp from debut author, Susie Burch
"Soulfare" is a captivating young adult fantasy novel with a compelling storyline, intriguing characters, and a richly developed world. The combination of an assassin protagonist, diverse landscapes, and the gathering of a band of warriors for an epic battle makes a thrilling and immersive reading experience.
If readers enjoyed "The Prisoner Healer" series by Lynette Noni or "The Chronicles of Narnia" series by C.S. Lewis, they are likely to appreciate "Soulfare" for its similar themes of a group of individuals coming together to fight for the greater good and facing challenges in fantastical settings.
An illustrated map of the world, would have been a great add at the start of the novel. Readers often appreciate the opportunity to visually connect with the world of a fantasy novel.
Overall, "Soulfare" is a must-read for fans of young adult fantasy. It would indeed make a great addition to secondary school libraries, providing students with an engaging and thought-provoking fantasy experience. Chapters are one or two pages and paragraphs are short. This format can make the book more accessible to a wider audience, including reluctant readers or those with limited time. It's a practical consideration that can contribute to the book's appeal, especially for busy students or individuals who prefer shorter reading sessions.
For someone who normally does not like fantasy genre novels, I was pleasantly surprised how much I enjoyed Soulfare. Susie is a very descriptive writer and I was able to imagine this fictional world. Soulfare can be compared to the stories of Narnia with teenage heroes and heroines who fight for good. I definately recommend giving Soulfare a read
