Dr. Thomas Reeves is at the pinnacle of his career. The Department of Defense has awarded him a lucrative contract for his new research into superior autobiographical memory, which promises the ability to create combat troops able to quickly learn complex battle plans and enact them perfectly under the most demanding battlefield scenarios.

An elite unit has received neural grafts from fetal cadavers of genetically altered brain cells with enhanced NMDA receptors. The results are remarkable . . . until the recipients begin suffering hallucinations, nightmares, paralysis, . . . and death. Dr. Reeves searches for answers, but DOD insiders want him to stop the search.

The situation becomes public when pediatric ICU nurse Morgan Adams, Dr. Reeves’s daughter, is taken hostage by three research subjects in an attempt to force Dr. Reeves into disclosing why they are sick. If answers aren’t revealed within twenty-four hours, patients in the pediatric ICU will be killed.

This spine-tingling conclusion to the Bloodline Trilogy raises spiritual and ethical dilemmas torn directly out of today’s headlines. When does life begin? How far does commitment to family go? And can the sins of the father ever be forgiven?

A pediatric ICU nurse should be able to keep her own baby alive. Morgan Adams didn't. The loss cracked a rift between her and her husband Tyler, and it's been widening ever since. When kidney failure threatens her life and none of her loved ones are a donor match, Morgan can hardly muster the will to care. Her mom has other ideas, though, willing to go to her biological father for help ... if he'll give it.

This book puts the Bloodline in the Trilogy, because Morgan's father is none other than Dr. Thomas Reeves, also the father of Lilly Reeves (the protagonist of the first book). This time around, he's trying to create super soldiers via brain surgery--with covert approval from the Department of Defense. Beyond photographic memory, Reeves's neural graft blesses and curses his patients with flawless autobiographical recall (a definite plus for any spy). But some of these patients are strangely ill. When Reeves won't divulge why, three of them commandeer the PICU at gunpoint and threaten revenge on his daughter, as well as her staff and her young patients.

This is Ms. Redwood's best novel yet. Her prose is at its cleanest (despite too many similes, which oddly I don't remember in the previous books). Her author voice remains clinical and factual, but the reader isn't pushed to arm's length here. Also, as usual, an impressive amount of plot is jammed into this book. The murder mystery and the scientific mystery and the medical cases--everything is balanced so well. This story is a bumpy ride for the characters but never for the reader, as Redwood executes each twist with smooth skill.

And the pacing--the pacing! Stellar, really. The first half is a blur of buildup; the second deals with the hostage situation (and yes, I'd consider the hostages thing a spoiler, except the publisher included it in the blurb). In unskilled hands, the second half could have draggged a bit, but this author keeps tension high, and not in a static way. And just as I might have said, "I can't take any more--um--peril!" the climax exploded, then settled into a satisfying resolution for each character individually and the series as a whole.

Now, the characters. I loved seeing them all again. I expected more of Keelyn and Lee, but the book is brimming as it is, and they showed up long enough to play vital roles and for me to smile at their presence. Brett's perspective was unexpected and enjoyable. Nathan's action moment in the climax was cheer-worthy and perfect. And of all the recurring characters in this series, Lilly's arc is the most complete. She truly changes from the first book to the last, and the catalyst for that change is believable. I'm also grateful to Ms. Redwood for giving Nathan the closure he still needed at the end of Poison: A Novel, though I didn't see him as often as I wanted to (but where would he have fit more often with everything else going on?).

As for the new characters. The loss of Morgan's child could have strayed into a cliche, but instead, she feels like a genuine, fractured person. Her motivations make sense, as do those of Tyler and Dr. Reeves and even the villains. And how I loved Morgan's perception of the characters I already knew--meeting and admiring Lilly, talking to Nathan and Lee on the phone and mentally contrasting them.

Which brings me to point of view, the ultimate make-or-break for any novel. This one is Redwood's deepest yet, showing us the world through the eyes and thoughts and even emotions of her characters.

The themes of the novel weave organically through the events. This time around, we're challenged to define a few elementals: memory, family, duty, guilt, and humanness itself. Thankfully, Jordyn Redwood is still a believer in wrestling evil, not whitewashing it. She doesn't shy away from poking her reader's soft spots (or ramming a hot poker into them).

At the end of Poison: A Novel, I hoped the author would give all her damaged people an honest, non-formulaic dose of healing. She does. I can say goodbye to everyone, especially Nathan and Lilly (I mean, if I must), knowing they'll be okay in time. I can even imagine what's next in their lives together.

As a smart, suspenseful, hopeful, daring work of Christian fiction, I salute and recommend the Bloodline Trilogy.

Pediatric ICU nurse Morgan Adams is struggling to find the will to live after the unimaginable death of her daughter. Her marriage to Dr. Tyler Adams seems destined to failure as they struggle with the new reality of their family's situation. Tyler, in the meantime, is becoming ever more concerned about the special project that he is working on for Dr. Thomas Reeves. Dr. Reeves is conducting a lucrative research project regarding implanting neural grafts into the brains of ex-military volunteers, in the quest to create combat troops with superior memory who can act in battles like a super soldier by enacting complex battle plans in any scenario. However, his research project goes awry when recipients of the graft begin suffering hallucinations and losing loss of their limbs, even facing death. In a desperate move to find out the truth of what they are experiencing, 3 research recipients take the Pediatric clinic and Morgan hostage, placing the lives of countless children and adults in peril.

Jorydn Redwood has written a taut and absorbing read in "Peril", leaving me glued to the edge of my seat as I raced to see how everything would resolve. Her pacing is spot on, and scenes flowed effortlessly from one to the next as the readers are led ever closer to the gripping conclusion. I greatly enjoyed getting to know the new and old characters in this book, and I thought they were created with realism as they leaped off of the page. Ethical questions are expertly explored in the all-too-frightening scenario presented in the pages of this book, and by the end of the novel I found myself hoping that, in real life, similar research projects are not underway! Jordyn Redwood has proven that she is an author to keep an eye on, both with "Peril" and with the prior books in the series. I greatly enjoy her writing style, and the way that she weaves suspense and unique plots together to create an absorbing read. Readers who enjoyed the first two books in the Bloodline Trilogy Series are going to be pleased with this final installment with the series - I know I was! I highly recommend this book and award it 5 out of 5 stars.

I discovered Jordyn Redwood last year when I spied her first book in Sam's Club. The cover first drew me in, then the synopsis on the back cinched it.
She writes so well and I love medical thrillers. However, her books aren't just medical thrillers. She includes so much more. The inspiration in them is wonderful and a blessing to the reader.

This one, Peril, is her best yet and boy, is it great! She hits the ground running and doesn't let up until the last page! There is so much intense action and heartbreak that my own heart is pounding. At one scene, I felt as if someone had slammed into my chest, the shock was so great. My heart was truly and literally pounding. I felt like I was there!

Morgan Adams is a PICU nurse, an unlikely place for her since her own infant died a few months earlier. Morgan feels responsible for her daughter's death, even though she's not, and quite simply has no desire to stay in this world. But things around her are happening to draw her into truly wondering if this is indeed the path she wants to tread down.

Murders, underhanded medical experiments, life altering operations, horrible results fill this book. Redwood causes the reader to think and dig deep into their own emotions.

The reader feels Morgan's pain, her hearbreak, her despair. But underneath it all is the grace of God extending toward her, loving her, holding her even as she fights against a loving God.

An aside here: I was going through a personal issue in my own Christian walk and in one paragraph the author reminded me that God is indeed in control and I can surrender anything to His loving hands. Precious.

Don't make the mistake of not reading this book. In fact, don't make the mistake of reading the two previous books in this series, Poison and Proof.
This reader will always grab a Jordyn Redwood book off the shelf, not even reading the synopsis. Her name on the book is enough to make that decision.

Can I say, "Bravo?"

I haven't given a book 5 stars in a while. There have been many books I liked a lot, but I try to save 5 star ratings for the exceptional ones. The books that really make an impression. Jordyn Redwood's Peril did that for me.

She's written two very good books to precede Peril in the Bloodlines Trilogy, Proof and Poison. They were very enjoyable medical thrillers that kept a great pace and made for intriguing reads. These books were quite good in their own right.

Peril takes it to a whole new level.

The pacing is frantic, without sacrificing heart and characterization. The twists keep coming again and again. Each time I thought it couldn't get worse for the heroes, Jordyn was happy to keep turning the screw on them. The obstacles were realistic. I'm in medicine as Jordyn is, and she does a great job with using both medical and non-medical complications to up the stakes.

Her writing has gotten stronger with each book. Peril became that page-turner that I hated to put down. I carpool to work and wanted my colleague to drive around the block a few times this morning so I could finish - I was that hooked.

There are more layers to appreciate if you've read the first two books like I have, but Peril would stand on its own quite well without that. I'd recommend the whole Bloodline trilogy for the full experience, but Peril stands out and establishes Jordyn as a talent to watch in suspense from now on.

From the first chapter, I did not want to put “Peril” down. Did. Not. And I was forced to more times than naught. Let me tell you, it’s no fun leaving your lunch break to head back to something so mundane as work when the main character is dangling out the side of a building…literally!

I’m one of those suspense readers that wants to be freaked out. If I’m going to read a genre that I don’t normally consume on a daily basis, I kind of want to be jittery on the edge of my seat (or under the covers) for what happens next. I probably should read the book back through (slower this time) since the first time I was speed reading to find out what would happen next.

At first I wasn’t really sure about the many story lines. I wasn’t sure when we’d get back to that murderer and giving him his dues, but I being the faithful reader than I am, kept going and have to say…that ending is totally worth it. I certainly would not recommend reading this book during any kind of deadline, it’s not good for the health and sanity of the person holding the deadline over your head. *wink*

The characters are great and the storyline even better. The writing is only getting tighter with each new title. 100% recommended.

This review is my honest opinion. Thanks to the publishers for my copy to review.

How do you do it, Jordyn? Confessing my sin: Envy over your ability to hold people on the edge of their seats without letting them fall off. Five thumbs firmly up on this adrenalin-inducing novel, the third in the Bloodlines Trilogy.

While carrying their baby, Morgan Adams contracted HELLP, a late pregnancy deadly disease that destroys the kidneys. Now she needs a transplant and has to have dialysis every other day. She continues to work as a pediatrics nurse because they need the money. To make matters much, much worse, she battles grief and guilt over the death of their precious baby girl.

Her husband is transplant surgeon Dr. Tyler Adams, anxious over his wife's debilitating depression, is also wondering if he and his boss, Dr. Thomas Reeves, should abandon the contract they have with the army to create infallible memories in their men, because other memories begin to plague their patients.

With a stellar cast of characters (many from her previous books in the bloodline trilogy), Redwood delivers a high-impact and emotional story. The subject matter is deep and raises some interesting questions, but like her other books, she handles it with just the right blend of wit and dark humor.

Buckle up. From page one, Redwood gripped me by the throat and took me on a thrill ride that twisted, turned, and corkscrewed before bringing me to a satisfying end. Her expertise in the medical field gives authenticity to the read and kept me intrigued and engrossed.

If you enjoy fast-paced suspense, characters that you can identify with, and a rising body count, Peril is a perfect read for you.

*While you will want to read her first two books in the trilogy (Proof and Poison), Peril can be read as a standalone without any confusion.

I can't wait to read what she comes up with next.

I received this book off of Goodreads First Reads. I absolutely loved it! The book held onto my attention from start to finish. The author is obviously very talented. It was exciting, beyond interesting and intriguing, a very unique plot to make it stand out amongst most books I've read, and had enough twists and turns to the well-put-together storyline to keep it a massive page turner. This book is one of my new favorites. I highly recommend it!

Morgan Adams, a pediatric nurse, feels like she can't bear to face life anymore. With her infant daughter dead, her kidneys failing, and the horrors of the hospital confronting her everyday, she doesn't see a point on holding on when everything died with her daughter. She tries to hold on for her husband and tries to hold onto a faith that's crumbling around her. Her faith isn't helped when her mother reveals a shocking secret that spins Morgan's life out of control and shakes her faith to the core.

Dr. Tyler Adams, Morgan's husband and a consultant for a medical trial, is trying to move on from the death of their daughter, but with his wife sick and unable to rejoin life Tyler can't seem to let go of their daughter. There is one thin he does know though, he's not letting Morgan go too. The added stress of trying to keep Morgan alive and fighting on top of his duties as a doctor are starting to put pressure on not only himself but his marriage too, making him wonder if they'll even make it.

When a rogue soldier from Tyler's medical trials comes after Morgan, she's almost grateful, until the people she loves are put in danger. Now Morgan must make a decision, fight for her life or give into the sweet relief death will bring. Tyler must decide whether he's going to let God hold Morgan or if he's going to hold too tight an possibly lose her. Their past, present and future are put to the test and they must decide which path they're going to take.
------------------------------------

Jordyn Redwood became a favorite for me with her last novel, but this one definitely made her rise through the ranks and has easily become my favorite medical fiction author ever. Her experience in critical care and emergency nursing and passion for what she does flows onto the pages and gets me excited about my chosen career path. I love finding out what else she's come up with and can't wait to see what else she's going to bring me next.

This is one of the few suspense novels that I've read with no discernible romance, but I didn't miss it because Morgan and Tyler's shaky relationship is put to the test throughout the book and I loved seeing each character grow and decide what they wanted. Because of that I got to see a marriage healed, which in this case might've been better than an actual romance. After all, after the romance comes the marriage and I liked the realistic portrayal of marriage and the image that with God any marriage can succeed.

The topic of this book is one that I love, which is a bit odd because usually I hate medical suspenses. I don't fully know why I love these more than others, maybe it's the fact that these suspenses use some obscure or unbelievable medical phenomena to sculpt them, or maybe it's the fact that there's always some awesome nursing and medical scenarios that excite my desire, even more, to be a nurse. All I know is that Jordyn Redwood has created an amazing trilogy of suspense novels that are thrilling yet teach medical terms and even some safety along the way. I loved this book!

Having never had a child let alone lost one makes it a bit hard to relate to what Morgan and her husband are going through, however I think the author did an amazing job portraying the sadness and despair that this couple's going through and made it a lot easier for me to feel their pain. The character development is great and I truly enjoyed watching Morgan make a decision to live and fight or give in and see her daughter again. I also enjoyed watching Morgan realize how much pain losing her would cause her husband. I think this author hit out of the park on this one.

Jordyn Redwood has become a favorite and has easily skyrocketed to the top of a very long list. I loved this book about a nurse and would love to see more of her expertise showcased. She created a believably heart wrenching medical suspense that will stick with me forever. This book paints a unique picture of infant stem cell research and abortion and because of that it made a huge impact with me. I highly recommend this book.

Overall, I loved this book! This book is perfect for lovers of medical suspenses and those who like books about strange occurrences in the medical world. This book is best left to the adults. I give this book a five out of five.

*I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for this review. All opinions expressed are my own.*

I just finished reading Peril, by Jordyn Redwood, and as much as I loved Proof and Poison, the first two in The Bloodline Trilogy, Peril surpassed them both.

From the very first chapter, I was hooked. Ms. Redwood’s writing is so realistic, I felt as though I was watching a movie from the first chapter until I closed the book when I finished. I could see, hear, taste, and smell the action, suspense, emotions, and feelings of not only the main characters, Morgan and Tyler Adams, but the secondary characters as well. I loved how she continued the storyline of some of my favorites like Nathan and Lilly as well as Keelyn and Lee from the first two books while introducing a whole new set of circumstances that created the level of suspense Ms. Redwood is famous for in her first two books. I also loved how she doesn’t create “cookie cutter” characters. Some of the characters are downright evil, just like in real life. It’s not a fairytale world where these people live; yet, I find myself still wanting to live there with them.

I’m not sure if it was because the theme of this book was nearer to my heart than the first two since it dealt with children, but I cried intermittently from the beginning all the way throughout . It made me want to hug my children tighter, not take little moments for granted, and be thankful for the blessings I have. Ms. Redwood pulled me into the story so deeply that I actually started contemplating whether or not I should earn a degree in nursing so I could work alongside Morgan in the PICU, checking vitals, grasping fingers of little ones to comfort them, or lovingly making sweet babies comfortable. However, by the end of the book I realized, as I already knew but had forgotten, it takes a very special personality to be able to handle the difficulties nurses face on a daily basis and I’m not sure I have that capability. However, for the length of time I read the book, I was transported into that world and enjoyed every single minute.

In the gifted way Ms. Redwood has of researching the themes of her books so thoroughly, she has me excited to learn more about memories and how the brain processes them. Without ruining the storyline for you, I’m now curious about issues and topics I’d never even thought about before, or even realized existed, and can’t wait to delve deeper.

Just as the message of God’s love was so adequately explained in Poison and still resonates with me, the message of the sanctity of life resonates with me through Peril. In addition, Ms. Redwood introduces the message of hope through trusting God, letting go of control, and allowing Him to “catch you when you fall.” He’s strong enough not only to keep you safe, but bring you out victorious on the other end. As she is so good at, there was no preaching…just a warmth of those words wrapped around the reader as if wearing a comfy blanket.

I realize this is the last of the trilogy and that makes me sad. I want to continue to “do life” with these wonderful, realistic people. I want to discover more about Brett, Nathan’s partner and Lilly’s father, Dr. Reeves. I felt like I bonded with Drew, the paramedic and want to hear more about his background and what made him the man he is today. I can’t wait for the next series Ms. Redwood writes as I’m a huge fan. I’m positive whatever journey she decides to take us on next will be full of adventure and suspense and informative topics like body language assessment, all interwoven with a strong spiritual element that is realistic and down-to-earth, helping us travel on our own faith journey.

I’ve already told two people how wonderful the book is and I just finished reading it last night. I can’t wait to tell many more what a wonderful author Ms. Redwood is and that the whole Bloodline Trilogy is a must read.

Jordyn Redwood Debuts With Excellent Medical Suspense Trilogy

A Review of

Let me begin by bestowing my thanks upon Martha Ramirez for informing me of this great treasure. (C. S. Lewis once said that the greatest help a teacher can be is to recommend which books to read.) Jordyn Redwood's trilogy is excellent medical suspense, especially for those who like it blended with criminal suspense, particularly the subspecies of criminal suspense which focuses on the criminal mentality, similar to that of the Criminal Minds television series, which, by the way, celebrated its 200th show this week, so that this is a great time to write this review!!

I am also excited about Jordyn Redwood's books because they deal with interesting medical phenomena, which are useful in refuting the popular notion that science is boring -- I remember in high school most students thought that biology was borology! Well, they would not think so if they read these books, especially about how DNA identification can be thwarted by strange embryological phenomena, and how recipients of heart transplants can sometimes pick up memories had by the donor, which is one the weirdest things I have ever heard of! These biological facts are crucial for the stories in the first and third books of the trilogy as the discussion of interesting stuff about spider venom is for the second one. Redwood is not only a good writer but also a very knowledgeable one, who has had two decades of ER & ICU Nursing experience. She writes what she knows!!

I also wish to pay tribute to the beautiful cover photos -- these are among the best I have ever seen -- and of the beautiful websites of the author.

About the only criticism I have is that sometimes, especially in the second book, the story becomes too complex, which is one problem a sophisticated thinker like Redwood sometimes has.

I am now in the midst of writing about the flow of interesting things into my life. Jordyn Redwood's trilogy is the most recent of these interesting things!

Sometimes it seems when life brings you to the end of your proverbial rope, it seems like it takes everything we have left just to hang on. That is where we find Morgan Adams, a pediatric nurse who wonders if life is really worth spending more one day among the living. She finds herself at the bottom of the deepest pit. After losing her infant daughter to someone she trusted to care for her, Morgan is facing complications due to a kidney disease that leaves her facing dialysis from her pregnancy and now she faces the depression that almost consumes her. Who wouldn't want to die after being handed those cards to play in life?

Her only hope comes from her husband, cardiac surgeon Dr. Tyler Adams who has been working on clinical trials with the U.S. Army that have their own unprecedented consequences. It seems like each person who receives a neural graft implant is beginning to have memories haunt them from their former donors. Yet it seems like Dr. Tyler Adams is having his own issues trying to be the strong anchor in the marriage that is literally hanging on by a thread.

This book is filled with almost every conceivable idea to haunt Tyler and Morgan both members of the medical community. This is truly an edge of your seat roller coaster ride that grips you from the beginning and holds you right over the cliff until the climatic ending. This will definitely be an adrenaline rush from the get go. It's filled with intrigue, suspense, and psychological twists when you least expect it. Along the way you see how a couple is tested by literally going through the fire and coming out with their faith completed tested in every way.

I received Peril by Jordyn Redwood compliments of Kregel Publications for my honest review and did not receive any monetary compensation for a favorable one. This is the third book in the Bloodline Trilogy and while you can definitely read this as a stand alone, you will truly appreciated the storyline with a great understanding by picking up for the first books in the series Proof and Poison. This is such a great book because Jordyn writes from her characters point of views so well you can feel what it's like to be in their situation. Also with an understanding from working in the critical care and emergency nursing, Jordyn puts you literally right in the driver's seat with her characters. The loss of a child by a parent has to be the most heart rendering experience and Jordyn takes us through it from every dimension that a parent would. That's what makes this one truly unforgettable. This one truly rates a 5 out of 5 stars.

"Peril" by Jordyn Redwood which I won from Goodreads Giveaways is a spine tingling, exciting novel that entwines the murder of a young girl, the horror of neurogenic experimentation and the hostile takeover of the PICU unit at Sacred Heart Children's Hospital. At the forefront of a story filled with emotional twists and turns is a dedicated nurse, Morgan Adams who, already traumatized by the death of her baby and a severe health problem, discovers a devastating secret. Will she be able to survive an enemy that would willingly sacrifice her life and the children under her care to get revenge?

This well-written plot is fascinating and keeps the reader on the edge of their seat as peril engulfs the hospital and all those Morgan cares for.

All the main characters are colourful and complex as each deals not only with the shattering events unfolding around them but with demons from their past. Morgan Adams is highly trained, methodical and caring, but she struggles with ghosts from her past and the need to end her life. Tyler Adams, a conscientious doctor who's brave, patient and principled, feels helpless and frustrated in his dealings with the politics of NeuroGenics, and in his struggle to save his marriage and the woman he loves. Nathan Long, a trained negotiator haunted by past mistakes must put aside any indecision and anxiety to save innocent lives. Brett Sawyer, the stubborn, determined detective must put aside logic in favour of what seems impossible as he searches for a killer. Dr. Thomas Reeves, the selfish researcher ruled by his lust for fame and power will discover his decisions are not infallible. The antagonists lend an intense and sinister tone to events that are as unsettling as they are frightening. Scott Clarke devastated by the consequences of his neural graft is ruthless, cruel and misguided in his need for justice, while Dylan Worth is hard-nosed and brutal, a man with a killer instinct.

This is a novel that moulds violence, selfishness and cruelty into a story filled with love, hope, forgiveness, faith and redemption. Even as lives are threatened and the darkness of events seems overpowering there is a strong inspirational message about holding tight to one's faith. I thoroughly enjoyed it and intend to read the other novels in the Bloodline Trilogy.

If answers aren't revealed within twenty-four hours, patients in the pediatric ICU will be killed.

This spine-tingling conclusion to the Bloodline Trilogy raises spiritual and ethical dilemmas torn directly out of today’s headlines. When does life begin? How far does commitment to family go? And can the sins of the father ever be forgiven?

My Review:

The medical authenticity in this novel was amazing! It is obvious that Redwood knows what she's talking about when it comes to her portrayal of the medical scenes and drama, and Peril is brilliantly written. It is not for the faint of heart, because if you're not willing to loose an entire night's sleep, wait till you have time to read it! I went 24 hours with no sleep because I stayed up to read this unforgettable and extraordinary story. I work in retail, and I must say, my coworkers were very patient with me in the aftermath! I was in no rush to read the book, but I was hooked from the very first page.

Redwood weaves a story with characters I could relate to, a story line I could follow, despite not knowing a lot of advanced medical terms, and a setting that was fascinating the entire way through. The multiple story lines kept me turning pages frantically, involving me with everyone in the story. I was sad when it ended, but I know Redwood will continue to astound us with her talent and excellent writing in the future.

Jordyn Redwood uses her knowledge as a critical care and emergency nurse to enrich the theme of the novel. The third in the trilogy, I like the way she integrates the characters from the other novels. It is a good fast paced suspense that keeps you wanting more. You won’t want to put this book down. Ms. Redwood keeps you wondering what is happening next. It is intriguing that she broaches the subject of PTSD, as many of our soldiers are coming home with this, and I feel that she did well in her research of the subject.
Most of all, I do like the fact that Ms. Redwood puts God in the center of everything, and that she keeps her characters reminding one another to keep the faith. No matter what God is in everything we do.

If you like suspense and mystery I highly recommend this book, and the other two in the trilogy.

I lOVED this book! So much going on, the one big theme is pro-life! I was thankful for Jordyn for not shying away from this.

Morgan and her husband Tyler lost their baby girl and are now struggling in their marriage. Morgan has a complication from the pregnancy that has put her in kidney failure. She is giving up on not only on her marriage but life in general. Does she even want to live? She needs a donor but does not have a match. She discovers her biological father is not who she thought all this time but none other than Dr. Thomas Reeves (Lilly's father) which means Lilly is her half sister! AND Tyler, her husband is working for him on a top secret government experiment using embryos. So much going on. And then Morgan is held hostage. Yeah, I know, go read and find out why, how, who!!!!

The story builds on itself and gets your heart pumping. There are even Navy Seals but these Seals aren't the good guys but are they victims? That was scary to think about men so highly trained that fight for our country turning into weapons hurting others.

Nathan and Lilly are back and my favorite, Nathan's partner, ? (forgot his name) but I LOVE.HIM because he makes me laugh out loud!!! Again, thank goodness because these books are heavy on the drama, which is great, but adding some humor was perfect to lighten things for a time!

So many questions raised in this book that leave you thinking. That takes an awesome author to be able to do that!

One of my favorite themes is restoring a marriage. I love books that deal with that! I wanted to hug Tyler as he watched his wife deteriorate before him and didn't know how to help her! He was such a sweet man and they were a perfect couple that even though they struggled you knew they were meant to be together. Just, so sweet.

Oh and the ending! What an ending! How will all these characters settle things? Will Morgan and Lilly connect? Will Morgan talk and get to know her father, Dr. Reeves? Will Dr. Reeves change his ways and put someone else first in his life besides himself? Hurry, go read it and find out!

I have to note, that Jordyn tweeted me back!!! AND as my other reviews, if an author takes time to connect with their fans, they automatically gain a new fan (myself) for life! That tells me a lot about their character and makes me love their books even more!

“Was it, in the end, beneficial to sell your soul to the devil for benefits delivered to the flesh?” (Chapter 21)

The loss of a child, by whatever means, is brutal on those left behind. Jordyn Redwood, approaches this loss from several different angles in her latest book, Peril. At first, the reader is led to assume the traumatic event at the beginning of the story will be the focus. Then, you are introduced to Morgan and Tyler, and you can almost physically feel the pain of their loss reflected in their marriage. Next, you are introduced to another physician dealing in the field of neuroscience and you are allowed to witness a totally different type of loss. None of these losses or tragic events seem related on the surface, but Jordyn Redwood ties these threads of story together in such a way that you will be gasping for air by the end of the story!

It’s been a while since I read such a masterfully told suspense tale!! As the reader, I was drawn into the lives of this cast of characters in such a way that at times, this story was almost too painful to read! The residual emotional and spiritual fallout in the lives of each family represented in the story is brutal at times! The clincher is the neuroscience angle!! You will know fear indeed when you consider that our society is playing on the edge of this field in ways that make Redwood’s story almost plausible!! Google it! You’ll see what I’m talking about!!

Peril releases October 1, 2013, so I don’t want to spoil a moment of this terrific book!! Suffice it to say this is a thriller that will keep you up at night!! The relationships are fragile and very real in their struggles. The scenario that is played out toward the end is very plausible and quite terrifying! Peril is a very taut and satisfying read, and you have much to look forward to!!

The Bloodline Trilogy delivers a punch that can't be beat for a set of first published thrillers! 'Proof' was intense, riveting, with a conclusion that I had not seen coming. 'Poison', the second, was equally intense, and I eagerly put 'Peril' on my wish list, waiting for its release. Even though I just got to read it, the wait to read only brought anticipation that did not meet disappointment. Jordyn shows the humanity of her characters, who are well-developed, and the protagonists are very likable. The seamless transition to include characters from the first two novels was great, yet each book could be read as stand-alone. Reading them in order does enhance the depth of those included from the prior book(s).
Jordyn is a Christian writer who does not preach in any way, yet shows the strength or weakness of each antagonist's faith. She writes a medical thriller without bad language or gory details - my kind of writer! Among the ethics raised in this novel is when human life begins in the womb, how far medical science should go in studying and altering human cells and brains, and whether one life could be traded for another - and who should make that determination. It could also be a frightening view of the future should the line cease to be drawn, or at least blurred, when one life is considered more valuable than another and 'friendly fire' should ever be allowed when we are talking the value of lives. Also demonstrated is what happens when personal greed takes precedence over the lives who are in the hands of the one seeking goods and fame.
I knew it would be a very late night when, less than halfway into the novel, the pediatric ICU of a children's hospital is taken hostage by those whose brain chemistry had been altered in an experiment gone terribly wrong. To say the least, the reader is taken on the wild, adrenaline-flooded ride of the hostages and negotiators as they try to save the lives of the children.
This book, this series, is given high recommendation by this reader! If you like medical thrillers, this is a series you do not want to miss! And this reader is very hopeful of seeing more offerings from Jordyn Redwood!

I cannot even begin to express how much I have loved reading the Bloodline Trilogy by Jordyn Redwood. As I read that last word, I found myself wanting more. A fourth book; a fifth, and a sixth; because I have fallen in love with these characters and their relationships, their sheer character and personality that is painted across the pages of each book. Redwood has crafted a rich world, with thought-provoking subject matter, and great plots.

Peril is a great finish to an amazing series and I am sad to see it end, but I am sure that Redwood has great things ahead for her and we'll see more amazing stories from her. Now perhaps a bit of focus on itself? I really don't even know where to begin. Characters that it is almost impossible not to love, some old and some new. Not just one, but multiple thought-provoking story arks that really get you mind working overtime, and make you genuinely think about some hard-hitting issues of the day. And the beauty of it is the simplicity with which Redwood weaves these issues into the storyline, not trying to push her views, but presenting the bold medical facts in black and white. Like her other books, this one really did make me think, and even evaluate some of my own beliefs; but unlike the others, I think this one definitely hit closest to home. I would highly recommend Peril and the entire Bloodline trilogy for you to read, and chances are - I'll be taking another trip through the wonderful series, because there are still some pieces I want to put together. I'm going to miss these characters, this is a growing world - and I am really just not ready to let go you. This is a series that will hold on to you. I cannot wait to see what else Jordyn will write, but I'll be first in line to read it ...

I have been privileged to review all of Jordyn's books she has written so far, and enjoyed each book immensely. As often is the case with new authors, she keeps getting better with each book. I enjoyed the first book, the second was even better, and the third better yet.

Jordyn seems to have a knack for coming up with some unusual killing methods, weird phenomenon in humans, and experimentations on humans. This third book was no exception. At the center of the story is two medical doctors struggling with their marriage in the aftermath of losing a baby to death. They become involved the fallout from medical experiments done on soldiers with PSTD, and there is some fascinating things described when the doctors are working on their human lab rats.

In my opinion, this is the most exciting book in the trilogy. I will try not to give much away, but there is a very exciting hostage situation that had me on the end of my seat, reading as fast as I could.

This isn't a long book, coming in at 274 pages, shorter than most suspense novels, but Jordyn makes great use of those 274 pages and fills them with a ton of suspense, drama, and even some romance.

All is not just entertainment. The book deals a lot with forgiveness, not just of others, but of oneself, of the power of God, ethical questions of when does life begin, and how much doctors should try to play God.

The book couldn't have been better. The author has written a great suspense novel that has a great message, and though her medical knowledge and training comes through in the book, it is put in terms even I could understand. I highly recommend this book, and the whole series, which should be read in order for the most enjoyment.

Peril Book 3 in Bloodline Trilogy by Jordyn Redwood
Another fantastic book by Jordyn Redwood. Morgan Adams a PICU nurse is married to Dr. Tyler Adams. They have suffered a grave loss and this has put a terrible strain on their marriage. Because of kidney disease caused by HELLP syndrome Morgan is now on dialysis and in need of a kidney transplant. Morgan is drained emotionally and physically, has lost all hope and is suicidal. After her father is tested to see if he is a match they learn he is not her biological father. Out of desperation her mother directs her to her biological father Dr Thomas Reeves, who can only be described as a mad scientist. His research and neural brain grafts alters memory and gives photogenic memory and super powers to soldiers. But something has gone horribly wrong now these powerful men he used as willing guinea pigs are angry and searching for answers. Morgan and Tyler are caught in the crosshairs of their deadly mission. Read this great book to see if their marriage can survive and if they find mercy at the hands of kidnappers. Can Dr Thomas Reeves redeem himself and stop the very research that has given him fame and fortune. This is a must read if you enjoy Christian fiction, suspense and action. It is a book that is fast paced and will be hard to put down. I highly recommend this book and the fist two in the series. I have had the pleasure of reading the first two books in this trilogy; any can be read as a stand alone book. Jordyn Redwood’s knowledge as an ER nurse is evident in her writing and her faith shines brightly. I want to thank the author and publisher for brining good clean Christian books to readers like me.

AN OUTSTANDING SERIES!

PERIL, the third installment of the Bloodline Trilogy did not leave me wanting. It was just as captivating and intriguing as PROOF and POISON.

Pediatric nurse, Morgan Adams does not want to go on with life. She blames herself for the death of her infant daughter, and with her kidneys failing from a rare disease she feels her life is sinking into a black hole with no escape. How can she continue to show up to work where her daughter died and try to give life-saving care to other children? Though her husband, Tyler, is encouraging and loving, Morgan doesn’t have the strength or the emotional stamina to go on.
When Morgan is taken hostage by a disillusioned soldier at her hospital, she sees it as a way out. She can finally die without the guilt of suicide. But when faced with the pain and grief her family will be left with, she questions if her absence will leave them better off. When it’s her very family members that become the target of the mad gunman, she fights with all that she has to make sure they are safe. But she is still left with the decision to save herself or not.

The entire trilogy series was AMAZING! Fast-paced, intricate plotting, emotionally charged situations, characters you love and hate . . . the Bloodline Trilogy had it all. The story line was fascinating, thought-provoking, and downright chilling. Jordyn Redwood has definitely made a splash in the Christian suspense genre. Each book in the series can stand alone, but each story had such great characters and plotlines, read them all if you can. The series has definitely found it’s way onto my favorites list.

Reading "Peril" was like attending a NASCAR stock car race; high speed, lots of crashes, constant re-starts and a flying finish! But when all the moving pieces eventually fell together at the end; three things remained; faith, hope and love! And the greatest of those was the restoration of love; between a grief-stricken pediatric ICU nurse Morgan Adams and her physician husband, Dr. Tyler Adams.

Morgan and Tyler's daughter, Teagan was the unfortunate victim of "shaken baby syndrome" at the hands of a trusted caregiver. Feeling ultimately responsible for her daughter's death, Morgan teeters on the brink of suicide as she fights her own health issues and tries to keep her marriage from completely disintegrating. Tyler fights his own grief by burying himself into his work; he finds additional income to pay for Morgan's expensive dialysis treatments by contracting with a medical research project that does experimental treatment for victims of post-traumatic stress; in particular, highly trained military personnel.

When Morgan and Tyler become intertwined with psychotic victims of Dr. Thomas Reeves' research-gone-bad, they learn first hand that their lives are truly worth living and their marriage is truly worth saving.

At times, I wished that this book could have slowed down a little; there were multiple unfinished stories embedded in this novel. They would make great sequels if Redwood ever decides to bring them back to life. If not, "Peril" was a great conclusion to Redwood's "Bloodline Trilogy" and I look forward to reading what she has coming next!

This is a fascinating story about experimentation, organ donation, and
murder! Morgan Adams is a pediatric nurse grieving over the murder of

her baby and waiting for a kidney transplant for herself. When her mother reveals a long-hidden secret, she wonders if she can ever forgive her. What will this mean for her future? Her husband is working on a secret medical trial for the military, but there seem to be problems with their patients. A young girl is attacked and as detectives investigate, they wonder how the Adams family is involved and if they can save another young girl before it's too late.

I liked that this book had a lot going on. There's the grief Morgan and her husband are dealing with, her health problems, the family secret, the medical work they're both involved in, and the murder investigation. There was never a dull moment! I liked the theme of forgiving yourself for past mistakes and sins. The medical sections were fascinating, especially the discussions about whether organ recipients retain memories from the donor. I really liked the murder investigation, too. There was a great action-packed climax to the story. This is book three and while it works as a stand-alone, there are cameos by the main characters in the first two books. I noticed a swear word used at one point, which I would have preferred to not see. If you're looking for a fascinating, suspenseful read, look no further!

I received this book free from Kregel Publications in exchange for an honest review.

In Peril, the final book of the Bloodline Trilogy, Morgan is a nurse in the pediatric intensive care unit. So, she is consistently surrounded by very sick children -- stressful, yes? Now add to that, just a month ago her friend and childcare provider for Teagan, her baby girl, murdered the little girl by shaking her -- oh, no, my heart breaks for Morgan. I understand her anger and attempts to hang on the Teagan. However, her marriage with Tyler is crumbling fast because she can’t let him in. Also, due to complications a few days before Teagan was born Morgan’s kidneys started to fail. She needs a kidney transplant...but does she even want to live?

Now she learns a secret about parents that continues to shake her foundation of Faith and trust. This twist also puts her in the middle of a very horrible situation!

I was able to review all 3 books of the Bloodline, and it’s been quite a ride! I really enjoyed Peril - very fast paced with interesting character and totally fascinating scientific possibilities. I love the experience and the amount of research the author, Jordyn Redwood, brings to her novels. You could read the books of the Bloodline Trilogy -- Proof, Poison, and Peril -- individually and still enjoy a great read. However, I would recommend that you dive in at the beginning.

As a family interested in action, mysteries, medical and law enforcement books, we will look forward to what Jordyn Redwood writes next!

Read from May 17 to 24, 2014

Stayed up until 3am reading this book. It was that good!!

I said full review was coming in June and now it is December. *facepalm* I really should get reviewing books faster!!

Fortunately this book was very good and very memorable, so I think I can still write an actuate review.

Oh, that's right, this is the one where I wanted to apologize to Ms. Redwood. You see, I really liked seeing people that we have met in other books come back in this one. But when I am in the height of suspense and the book flipped to Lily's perspective - Lily, a person who is not on the scene and does not know what is going on - I had to skip it. I just had to know what was going to happen!!!

I did go back and read it later. After I found out that I was seriously worried about him. So it was 2am, and everyone else is asleep. And Taylor I started screaming into my pillow, so as not to wake anyone up. And that is when it flipped to Lily's POV. Yeah, that is why I had to skip it.

Other than that this book was fabulous. It is the first trilogy in which I have given 5 stars to all three book. Congrat Ms. Redwood!!

Oh, and can you please write a book about Bret? He is my absolute favorite character ever!! can I marry him?

And I just completely ignored the powerful message in this book....I might come back and write about that later

Peril
Bloodlines Trilogy #3
By Jordyn Redwood

Peril is the third offering in the Bloodlines Trilogy and it is intense.

Morgan Adams and her husband Tyler Adams are teetering on the edge after the death of their baby. But this is just one part of their problems Morgan needs a kidney due to a complication of her pregnancy and she is running out of time and the will to keep going. But when an unknown family tie comes to light she, along with the hospital where she works, is drawn into a hostage situation.

Dr. Thomas Reeves is conducting experiments that are having unexpected side-effects on the patients. The issues seem to be only in their minds, but there is evidence beginning to surface that may prove otherwise. But Dr. Reeves's sole focus is his own success and the potential accolades that may come his way. Career is everything to him - friendship and family have no ties on his heart.

There are aspects in this book that are quite intriguing such as persistent memory on cells and organ donation. Though this is technically a fiction/suspense it is a book that will make you stop and think - after you've finished reading the book, that is. This is also a book that will touch your heart so be sure to have a tissue or two nearby.

I was provided a copy this book by Kregel in exchange for my honest review.

As a critical care and emergency nurse, Jordyn Redwood has inside knowledge into the medical world. In Peril, she combines both futuristic medical possibilities with the realities of those suffering from PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder).

The book began very slowly as Jordyn laid the foundation of the three seemingly separate storylines - sexual assault, an infant's death, and experimental research . As you continue on, the storylines begin to find common ground. At this point, the plot and action take off! Add in some psychological twists and turns, and you have a very well-written novel. A novel I did not want to put down!

Although this is the third in the Bloodline Trilogy, I did not feel lost in Peril because I had not read the first two books - Proof (1) and Poison (2).

Jordyn Redwood has opened the door to many conversations. Is it ethical to use fetal cells? If so, when should it be harvested? How does ethics fit into the equation? Who decides what is moral or amoral? This novel is so much more than just a good read. It gives the reader some meaty issues to consider. Well done!

My rating: 4 out of 5 stars

I anxiously awaited this third book in the Bloodline trilogy and after reading Peril, I was not disappointed. I fell in love with the characters in this book too. I felt like when I was finished I had gained new friends and they would be knocking on my door anytime.
Jordyn did an amazing job weaving old and new characters. Having some of the previous characters pop up brought joy to this Redwood Fan.
Peril's description of hospital protocol had me believing I was in the PIcU with them. I know trilogy means three but I could live with these characters and story lines for a few more books!
Thank you Jordyn Redwood for an engaging ride with the Bloodline Trilogy. I have been sharing these amazing books with all my friends...Proof. Poison. And Peril. Each one brings the reader in and you become part of the twist and turns, romance and mystery . My favorite kind of christian literature.

Peril is the third book in Jordyn Redwood's trilogy. If you haven't read Proof and Poison, you're missing out!

I loved seeing Keelyn and Lee, and Nathan and Lilly as reoccurring characters from the other two books. Even though we've seen them before, all three books can be read as stand-alones.

Jordyn Redwood has moved to the top of my suspense author list. Her suspense with twists, turns, and ups and downs takes you on a dizzying roller coaster ride that has you begging for more screams!

Peds nurse Morgan Adams loses a baby daughter, and gains a rocky relationship with her husband. She's got kidney disease and when her dad is tested to be a possible match...guess what...he's not the daddy. Then her mom points her to her real dad...the mad scientist. What else can go wrong...well she winds up as a hostage.

Mix Jordyn Redwood's perfect medical knowledge with a plot that has more layers than a Baklava, and you've got a sweet treat!
