This review is for Swept Away by Michelle Sass Aleckson. I really, really enjoyed this story. I was hooked from the beginning and I read most of this story in one setting. The characters are great and the mystery was awesome. My only minor complaint is I would’ve liked a little more resolution at the end. I would love to see more stories with these characters so here’s hoping Michelle will write some more with them.

Undertow (Lisa Phillips)

1. How did you feel about the setting?

The setting was a cruise ship. I always enjoy a good suspenseful book on a cruise ship and, this one didn’t let me down.

2. What do potential readers need to know most about the main character?

Clare, Peter’s boss, gave him the job of protecting Selena while she worked on a cruise ship. This was his last mission before he became a full operative for Vanguard.

3. Which supporting character caught your interest the most?

My favorite supporting character was Selena because she was a strong woman mentally and physically.

4. What journey do(es) the main character(s) take?

Selena was asked to come aboard a cruise ship by an Armenian General but, she doesn’t know what for. Seems like there is trouble a-brewing.

5. How is the writing style or quality of the writing?

The story’s structure is well thought out beginning from the first scene, six weeks before the present day. The main thesis of this story kept me reading past my bedtime.

6. Are there spiritual truths to be gleaned from the story?

We’re all broken and scarred however God will be there when we have nothing.

7. For whom would you recommend this book?

If you are looking for a fast read, with lots of suspense choose this one.

8. Why did you give it the star rating you did?

I gave Undertow 5*/5* because I was pulled in from the beginning of this cold case suspense story.

Swept Away (Michelle Aleckson)

1. How did you feel about the setting?

Venice Beach, California. The Pacific Ocean. What more could you want? I loved the setting.

2. What do potential readers need to know most about the main character?

Lucas (Luke) was a strong, silent type, and easy on the eyes. He had no inclination for falling in love. He just wanted to be left alone.

3. Which supporting character caught your interest the most?

The supporting character that caught my interest the most was Malani Davis because she was the strong independant type. She cared about her foster sister and was adament about trying to find her.

4. What journey do(es) the main character(s) take?

Malani Davis was stepping in as instructor for her foster sister. Her customer, Lukas (Luke) Berglund, didn’t seem dressed for the part in his boots and jeans. Oh well, it was only a 3-hour surf board lesson.

5. How is the writing style or quality of the writing?

The writing style is written in stong descriptive language. I felt as if I was living vicariously through this story.

6. For whom would you recommend this book?

I would recommend Swept Away for fans of well-written, clean suspense.

7. Why did you give it the star rating you did?

I give Swept Away 5*/5* because of the gentle way the author handled unwed pregnancy and foster care.

Fractured Memories (Lynn Shannon)

1. What do potential readers need to know most about the main character?

Texas Ranger Felicity Capshaw was the youngest ranger in the state. She was also single and had no desire to date. She loved her job, but life was passing her by.

2. Which supporting character caught your interest the most?

Detective Noah Hodge was a widower who had no intentions of remarrying.

3. What journey do(es) the main character(s) take?

Fifteen years ago Felicity Capshaw had witnessed the murder of her babysitter, Brooke Peterson. The suspect has never been caught. Safety was an illusion and the nightmares haunted her. Now, as a Texas Ranger, she had the training and skill to solve Brooke’s murder.

4. How is the writing style or quality of the writing?

The reader is taken on a journey to look into the past to find out who killed Brooke. They are also brought to the present where the same killer might be wanting to shut Felicity up, for good.

5. Are there spiritual truths to be gleaned from the story?

Yes, Trust in God.

6. For whom would you recommend this book?

I would recommend Fractured Memories to fans of well-written suspense.

7. Why did you give it the star rating you did?

I give Fractured Memories 5*/5* because the author did a good job with incorporating narrative writing.

Lethal Inheritance (Rebecca Hemlock)

1. What do potential readers need to know most about the main character?

After Sergeant Kelly Blithe’s K-9 Labrador, Sandy, went into retirement she was given a K-9 German Shepherd, Chip. She preferred working with Labradors, even though Chip was the best narcotics detector she ever trained.

2. Which supporting character caught your interest the most?

Rugged, attractive Harry Miller, although he wouldn’t call himself attractive because of the scar on his face and neck.

3. What journey do(es) the main character(s) take?

Sergeant Kelly Blithe wanted to prove her younger brother’s innocense by finding her older brother’s killer. But, was he really innocent?

4. How is the writing style or quality of the writing?

The author’s writing style is narrative because she is telling a story about what happened to someone.

5. Are there spiritual truths to be gleaned from the story?

“His relationship with the Lord was the only thing that got him through difficult times.”

“Some people face hard things in their lives because God feels they are strong enough to be the ones to help others who must go through the same thing. God doesn’t dictate what goes on here on earth. If He did, then He could just make us love Him and we wouldn’t have Free Will. Mankind makes choices that affect those around them, and sometimes we are in the splash zone.”

6. For whom would you recommend this book?

To fans of suspense.

7. Why did you give it the star rating you did?

I give Lethal Inheritance 5*/5* because it pulled me in and didn’t let go.

Through Every Danger is book 2 of the Summer Heat 2023 series, these books have a lot of suspense and mystery, romance and Christian themes. I truly enjoyed this book, some stories more than others, but it was great to meet new authors and their characters/worlds.

Undertow - Lisa Phillips: I really liked how this book was set in a cruise, it definitely makes it interesting and leaves you on the edge of your set when the main characters are trying to hide in a cruise with a little help from their team/family. Plus there was a twist towards the end of the book that made me like it more, but I think this book was little confusing and I didn't connect much with the characters. I was really curious about the twins stories when they were introduced in Allegiance, so I was a little disappointed for not understanding really well their dynamic and not connecting with the characters, in some chapters I didn't understand what was going on and I felt the romance was a little rushed and forced, but that's probably because I haven't read the other books in the series

Swept Away - Michelle Aleckson: Lucas and Malani's story was amazing and with a few unexpected twists in the end. It also had amazing, but meddlers, side characters. I loved Sabrina and her family, specially her, how she didn't shy away from what had to be done, she was really bold (and almost gave her mama a heart attack hahah). Malani had her fears because of her past, but what she needed was a little perspective to be able to understand and move on, and she got that much needed closure; Lucas also had his, and understood his calling. But both of them had to get in a little bit of trouble to get there, and boy did they have trouble, this story is full of suspense and amazing plot twists, when I thought things were settling down, I got a new (but good) surprise. This book was definitely one of my favourites

Fractured Memories - Lynn Shannon: I will definitely be reading more books from her, I loved seeing Felicity's friends telling her about the struggles they went through to be with their significant other that I got really curious about what happened and how they got though it, I love when an author do this and shows us little snippets of how things turned out and how is it going for the couple. Anyway, I really liked her writing style, the entire time I was trying to guess who it was, and what had happened, but there was always a little detail that threw me for a loop and I was back to wondering who it could be. The story had a great pace with relatable characters, who had an amazing friendship.

Lethal Inheritance - Rebecca Hemlock: What I liked the most about this book was how the author showed Kelly's struggle to understand and accept trusting God; she had a hard time understanding how He could love her and allow all the bad things that happened in her life. Rebecca Hemlock shows through her characters that it doesn't matter if you are a believer (like Harry) or not there yet (like Kelly) when tragedy strikes, or things don't go as we expected, sometimes we question God. We question if He loves us or still cares about us, just like Harry did, he questioned God and stopped going to church because of his accident, we do that as well, we wonder why God allows bad things to happen, and I loved how Harry shared his struggles and tried to help Kelly understand.

"Yeah, I was sure God wanted nothing to do with me when I got this scar. I even decided I would never set foot in a church again. But then Kyle told me something that has stuck with me.Some people face hard things in their lives because God feels they are strong enough to be the ones to help other who must go through the same thing. God doesn't dictate what goes on here on earth. If he did, then he could just make us love him and we wouldn't have free will. Mankind makes choices that affect those around them, and sometimes we are in the splash zone."

I received an ARC from the author and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

This is a wonderful collection of four stories written by talented authors who know how to pull you into their stories. The stories are filled with excitement and intrigue, suspense and mystery, lots of action and definitely a little romance. They are also inspirational and faith-based. I honestly could not possibly pick my favorite. They were all superb.

Undertow is written by Lisa Phillips - Selena is a social media star who wants to get out of the business. She has been invited on a cruise and is being paid handsomely for her work. Peter is being given the chance to make full operative with Vanguard Security and hopefully wipe his slate clean from his past transgressions. He is sent to secretly guard Selena. They get a little more than they bargained for on this cruise. The characters were very likable and quite savvy in the chase. The scenery of being on a cruise was definitely different and made things a little more interesting. After all where are you going to run in the middle of the ocean?

Swept Away - by Michelle Aleckson - Malani Davis is a part-time surf instructor. Lukas Berglund is a farm boy and part-time cop from Minnesota visiting sunny California. His friend signs him up for surfing lessons, much to his chagrin. However, meeting Malani was orchestrated perfectly because he ends up assisting her in her search for a missing teenager. I loved the character of Lukas. He was so out of his element on the beach, but he made the best of the situation. Malani had a warm heart and was a protector. She would not give up in her quest to find Riley even when her life was in danger. Things get a little dicey several times in this story.

Fractured Memories - by Lynn Shannon - Felicity Capshaw witnessed a horrendous crime as a teenager, but she cannot remember what she saw or more importantly who she saw. She is a now a Texas Ranger and she wants to solve this murder. Detective Noah Hodge bands together with her to try and keep her safe and solve this mystery once and for all. Noah's personality pulled on my heartstrings. He was so thoughtful. One particular scene stood out when they were going to a homeless encampment. He bought food, water, toiletries, etc. to take with them to give out to the residents. This was a fine example of taking care of those less fortunate. This story was action packed as someone wants their secret to stay in the past. This was a great mystery.

Lethal Inheritance by Rebecca Hemlock - Kelly Blithe is a K-9 officer who has a troubled past with her family as her family was split up when she was young. When Kelly is called to the scene of a crime and the suspect is her brother, Detective Harry Miller has to step in. Harry has vanity issues because of a scar on his face which he is very self-conscious about. He has feelings for Kelly, but he is afraid she will not be interested in him. They work together to figure out the puzzle pieces to this complex and puzzling mystery. The characters in this story needed each other, but they just did not realize it at first. This was a complex mystery with some twisty plot lines.

Thank you to the author for this ARC. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

If you haven't read these authors before, this is a great way to introduce yourself to their writing!
Undertow; by Lisa Phillips (Part of the Benson First Responders series, but can be read as a stand alone.)
The first chapter in this book is a little confusing, but it sets the stage for the rest of the story, so keep reading!
Peter is trying to become a full fledged agent for the company he works for, and keeping Selena safe while she's working on a cruise ship is his assignment. However, there is a lot more to this mission, and the danger is far greater than anyone could have figured. Selena is not content to be a passive bystander, and insists on being part of the mission. There is lots of suspense and adventure to be had, along with their developing romance.
This story is a real page turner, and I highly recommend it!
Swept Away; by Michelle Aleckson
This is a fun little story. Lukas is a fish out of water.... a Minnesota farm boy learning to surf. He is also a cop in his home town. Malani is his surfing instructor. A series of events lead them on a trek across the border to rescue Malanis' foster sister. When everything seems to be working against them, they need to find their faith and ask God for help.
This is a great story, with perilous situations, and a heartwarming HEA .
Fractured Memories; by Lynn Shannon (Triumph Over Adversity series, can be read as a stand alone)
Lynn Shannon always tells a terrific story. Noah and Felicity have been friends since childhood. Now, as they are investigating a case from Felicitys' past, their feelings for one another are changing and growing. But someone wants Felicity dead, and they need to untangle the threads of this case before the would be killer succeeds, and before they are free to explore this new aspect in their relationship.
Lethal Inheritance; by Rebecca Hemlock (Oakwood Springs PD series, can be read as a stand alone)
Harry is a good detective, but physical scars have him believing that no woman would want him. Kelly is a K9 cop in charge of the K9 training program. Her scars are emotional, making it hard to let anyone get too close. Harry has been crushing on Kelly for quite awhile, and when it becomes apparent that someone is trying to kill her, he is determined to keep her safe, and to bring her would be killer to justice.
This is a very well written story, and I will be looking forward to reading the other books in this series.

Undertow - Lisa Phillips
When Selena is hired to work on a cruise ship, she knows it is the fresh start she needs. Peter is simply supposed to watch her from afar and keep her safe. When trouble comes, they soon realize that there is more at play then they imagined.
A cruise ship is a great location for a suspenseful book because of the confined quarters. There was plenty to keep me guessing. This novella fits in the middle of the author's Benson First Responders series. Because I had not read the other books first, I was definitely confused. Perhaps my rating would change if I had read those other titles first, but I did not feel connected to the characters. 3.5 stars

Swept Away - Michelle Aleckson
Malani Davis was not thrilled when she was asked to teach a Minnesota guy how to surf. Cowboy boots? Lukas is not convinced that the beach is for him. But he cannot help but want to assist Malani when her surfer sister goes missing. Can they find what is really going on?
This storyline really worked for me. All of the elements combined into a great story! I hope that the author has plan to write further books with these characters - maybe in Minnesota? I would definitely read them. 5 stars for this one.

Fractured Memories - Lynn Shannon
Felicity went into law enforcement to make things right after experiencing trauma of her own. When she finds the past being brought to life again, she relies on Detective Noah to help her. Will she finally be able to put the past to rest?
Those who have read other books by Lynn Shannon will appreciate familiar characters. Overall, I liked the romance and was kept guessing by the suspense. But parts felt like they moved to quickly. 4 stars.

Lethal Inheritance - Rebecca Hemlock
Kelly is a K-9 officer who is quite surprised to end up with her own mystery to solve. Harry wants to help her and wonders if this is finally the way that he can admit how long he has had feelings for her. Unraveling the case is certainly challenging.
This book was certainly unpredictable. I did not see a lot of parts coming. I struggled a bit to connect with the storyline since I felt like I was dropped in the middle of a storyline without being able to fully understand what was happening enough to connect with the characters. 4 stars.

Combined rating: 4 stars (I have enjoyed these Summer Heat collections overall.)

The second installment in the Summer Heat series does not disappoint! While this installment has some of my favorite authors, one of the things that I do enjoy about these types of compilations is the ability to discover new authors that I may not have heard of (or at least taken the time to read) previously.

Undertow by Lisa Phillips - 5 stars. Lisa Phillips once again proves her mastery of the inspirational romantic suspense. I love the universe of characters that Lisa has created and this story was like coming back to old friends to see what is happening in their lives. There were the expected yet unexpected twists and turns and, of course, romance.

Swept Away by Michelle Aleckson - 5 stars. This was the first time I've read a Michelle Aleckson story, but it definitely won't be the last! The very first line hooked me and this author expertly reeled me in and kept me riveted throughout the entire story. I'm definitely looking forward to reading more of what this author writes.

Fractured Memories by Lynn Shannon - 5 stars. Lynn Shannon is another one of my tried and true authors. I love reading what she writes and she didn't disappoint in "Fractured Memories". Again an unexpected element in the conclusion left me very satisfied because I thought I had figured out the "whodunnit" exactly... and I didn't. The romance between the main characters was enjoyable and I loved the incorporation of some of my favorite characters from other novels.

Lethal Inheritance by Rebecca Hemlock - 4 stars. This is another new to me author but one I did enjoy reading. The premise was original and I enjoyed trying to figure out who was behind all of the shenanigans. The main characters' romance was sweet and there was some great dialogue discussing who God is.

In conclusion, whether these authors are new to you or some of your favorites, you shouldn’t miss out on this book. Spending a few hours snuggled up with this read will be an enjoyable way to spend your time.

Through Every Danger is Book 2 of 3 in the Summer Heat Christian Romantic Suspense series. It contains 4 books,
1. Undertow by Lisa Phillips giving us Selena and Peters story, characters from the Benson First Responders Series. I was immediately hooked when I began reading as I’ve already “met” these two in previous books, I’m a huge fan of series where you met someone in a book as a supporting character and then they get their own story! It didn’t disappoint! If your reading this as your first Lisa Phillips book, you will be intrigued by the others mentioned, but have no problem following the story without reading the other books first.
2. Swept Away by Michelle Aleckson is Malani and Lukas(Luke’s) story. Malani and Lukas are an opposites attract story, a surfer from Hawaii and a farmer who is a part time cop from Minnesota says it all! An adventure that changes both their lives in ways they never imagined.
3. Fractured Memories by Lynn Shannon is the story of Felicity and Noah. Felicity has amnesia from trauma as a teen, once back in her hometown to investigate the case as a Texas Ranger, things get complicated. Noah, a local police officer was a childhood friend who is helping her. I especially loved the character of his aunt Imogene. She said “I know you’re scared, but that’s when you need God the most. Replace your fear with faith. Trust that He has a plan for you, one that includes happiness and love. “
4. Lethal Inheritance by Rebecca Hemlock gives us Kelly and Harry’s story. Kelly is a K-9 officer and Harry is a detective who is investigating her brother’s death. They both have insecurities from past trauma, but they find strength in God and work together to solve the case before the killer stops them.
I enjoyed reading the 2nd Summer Heat 2023 book as much as the 1st one and look forward to reading book 3 in the series soon!

All of the stories in this set are wonderful. They all contain gripping suspense, romance, and Christian aspects. I look forward to reading more from each of these authors.

Undertow – Lisa Phillips
Selena, a social media star, has been paid to work on a cruise ship for a week. She is under the protection of Clara, her very good friend and owner of Vanguard Investigators. Peter works for Vanguard and wants to become a qualified operative. His final assignment for this qualification is to protect Selena on the cruise. Once on board, Peter discovers there is much more to the mission.
This book is well written with interesting characters. It is full of intrigue, suspense, and romance. I most appreciate the addition of Christian principles such as prayer, trust, and depending on God. The only problem I have is that the characters seem very young to have experienced all they had.

Swept Away – Michelle Aleckson
Malani is from Hawaii but is in California teaching and substituting as a surfing instructor. Lucas is a sheriff’s deputy from Minnesota on vacation. Someone is trying to scare or kill Malani. Something is terribly wrong with her foster sister – she is missing and scared.

Fractured memories – Lynn Shannon
Felicity is a Texas Ranger who experienced a childhood trauma when her babysitter was murdered with her in the house. Felicity has no memory of the incident, and someone wants to make sure she never recovers her memory – permanently.

Lethal Inheritance – Rebecca hemlock
Kellie is a police K-9 officer. Harry is a police detective with a scarred faith. He has loved Kelly for a long time. Kelly’s bother is found shot to death, and she arrests her other brother, whom she has not seen in years, for suspicion of the murder. Someone wants Kelly dead, and Harry is just the one to protect her. Very good Christian intrigue.

I received a copy of this book from the author. My review is voluntary and unbiased.

Through Every Danger reviews

Undertow by Lisa Phillips
Trapped on a cruise ship with a maniac, Selena and Peter have the odds stacked against them. I knew there would have a happily-ever-after ending, but the author kept me guessing how they would find their way out until nearly the last page.

Swept Away by Michelle Aleckson
Malani and Lukas’s story is definitely an opposites-attract one. So how do a surf instructor and a Midwest farmer and part-time sheriff’s deputy get together? When Malani loses contact with her teenage foster sister, the two set out to find out what happened to her. With captivating characters and a plot that will continually surprise you, you might just lose some sleep trying to finish this read in one day.

Fractured Memories by Lynn Shannon
Texas Ranger Felicity and sheriff deputy Noah are childhood friends, but when she reopens the investigation of a murder, sparks fly in more way than one. Drama, suspense, and romance are rolled into a story that will keep you turning the page. You might recognize some characters from the series Triumph Over Adversity. This book is a great addition to the collection.

Lethal Inheritance by Rebecca Hemlock
Police K9 officer Kelly Blithe and Detective Harry Miller work together to solve the murder of her brother. Neither thinks they want a relationship because of scars. His are external and hers are internal. Nice character development as they figure out the case and what they really want in life.

Undertow by Lisa Phillips:
This was a great romantic suspense. CIA, criminals, a cruise ship, and more. There were definitely twists that I was not expecting. The romance seemed to be a bit unexpected to the story, but I really enjoyed the read and the lines of suspense.

Swept Away by Michelle Aleckson:
This was a good read with the beach and surfing. I liked the unexpected direction the story took and the dangers along the way. It definitely held my attention.

Fractured Memories by Lynn Shannon:
Amnesia, a single dad, best friends, a cold case murder mystery, and two law enforcement officers. Plus a darling little girl. Danger swirling all around. This was a great romantic suspense that I didn’t want to put down.

Lethal Inheritance by Rebecca Hemlock:
Another lovely romance to end this set with. Our heroine this time is not a Christian. Painful pasts and shadowed circumstances swirl around this K9 operator. It was a good read.

I received an ARC of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

My favorite story was Swept Away, I loved the setting, the characters, the intrigue, everything about it. I can't wait to read more about the Berglund family when they come out. Malani and Lukas were well developed characters along with all the extra characters that made up the story. It was just a great story.
My second favorite was Undertow because I've been waiting on Peter's story, it took me a moment to remember who Selena. Basically they are kidnapped at sea by a crazy war criminal. It was great seeing the rest of Peter's team chime in when he needed help and seeing the character development in Selena and Peter as they realized it's okay to lean on each other and a team, you don't have to fight alone.
Fractured Memories and Lethal Intentions were okay. That's why I gave a four. They didn't really resonate with me. Both had mystery, suspense and action but I couldn't get into the characters.

Review for Undertow by Lisa Phillips: This book has a lot of danger and intrigue as a lovely love story unfolds through the twists and turns. Now if everyone can just make it out alive!

Review for Swept Away by Michelle Aleckson: This is a great story where a lot of help from friends and family helps Malani and Luke to make it through a whirlwind of trouble to their happy ending. I truly enjoyed this book!

Review for Fractured Memories by Lynn Shannon: Wow! What a great book! Apparently, opening up a cold case murder investigation gets someone’s attention. The author weaves a great romance between a couple that have been friends for years as they navigate their way through multiple threats and attempts to shut down the investigation.

Review for Lethal Inheritance by Rebecca Hemlock: What a twisted mystery! Kelly and Harry work together to solve a murder involving Kelly’s family members. Kelly has to figure out who she can trust as attempts are made on her life.

I really enjoy boxed sets like this because they are the perfect opportunity to read new authors!! Each book in this series is a romantic suspense but each author has their own writing style which keeps the series feeling nice and fresh. Most of these authors were new to me and I look forward to reading more of their books in the future. “Undertow” takes place mainly on a cruise ship and is packed with action and mystery. “Swept Away” opens on a beach and sweeps across many places and mysteries in their search for a missing foster sister. “Fractured Memories” is a cold case murder investigation that jumps into the present as the killer doesn’t want the witness to live to remember what she saw. “Lethal Inheritance” contains the most un-recommended family reunion of all time as lies, murder and mystery abound. These books are an enjoyable read for sure!

I was anxiously waiting for Through Every Danger since I am ADDICTED to Lisa Phillips and have been eagerly anticipating the Olson twins and Selena having their own stories. HAPPY DANCE! This is Peter and Selena's story/romance/adventure. I won't ruin anything for anyone ;) NO SPOILERS!

I'm also a huge fan of Lynn Shannon's Texas Ranger and Triumph Over Adversity series-and we get a continuation of the series and with all of the fabulous characters from those series in Fractured Memories.

Michelle Aleckson and Rebecca Hemlock we new-to-me authors. Their books are now in my TBR pile! The first thing that I did after reading Rebecca Hemlock's book was to read the first two books in the Oakwood Springs PD series! More excellent books! Now I'm counting the days till the next Summer Heat 2023 book!

I enjoyed all four books in the set, Through Every Danger. One was by a favorite author and others by new-to-me authors. I would happily read more books by any of the four. I found all the main characters to be likeable, which is a must for me to really relish a book. The plots all have those twists and turns that we suspense readers love. The romances have well-deserved HEAs. The authors weave faith into their books in a way that just flows with the story. I highly recommend this set of exciting and suspenseful books to readers of clean romance and of Christian romance and to readers of romantic suspense. I think that you will find all four to be a thrill to read.
I received a complimentary copy and am sharing my opinion of these well-written books.

Each of these authors has written a story with a different source of danger that makes them captivating. Their individual titles perfectly fit the danger the hero & heroine face to solve the mystery. I have read books by Ms. Phillips & Ms. Shannon. Their works never disappoint me & keep me guessing about the ending.
Ms. Aleckson & Ms. Hemlock are new authors to me. I like their writing style, however, & they present excellent mysteries. I will enjoy reading other books by them. You can't go wrong reading this anthology if you love mysteries. I received an ARC copy. I choose to write this review.

Through Every Danger God is with us is the message of this four book Collection. These are Christian Fiction with plenty of adventure, action & suspense. And there’s romance too.

Lisa Phillips Undertow
This story grips you right from the beginning & keeps you turning the pages. I read half the book in one go. Trying to piece it together kept me reading long into the night. You want answers to how & why all this is happening. So action packed. I will be looking for other books by Lisa.

I received an Advanced Reader Copy & I am writing a voluntary honest review

Undertow by Lisa Phillips. I really enjoyed this book. It was full of nonstop action. I love how the MCs were learning to rely on each other and especially rely on God being with them and helping them no matter the outcome. When Selena realized that independent didn't mean alone or dependent, just that she had a community and a God to always be with her, I almost wanted to cry at the sentiment. I only got a chance to skim the rest of the books, but I can't wait to read them fully. They all look good!

I've just read the first story, Undertow by Lisa Phillips. Fast-paced story that grabs and holds your attention all through the heart pounding fear that Selena must be experiencing. Peter, along with his twin brother Simon, and their boss, Clare, keep the tension moving along as the story unfolds.
Swept Away by Michelle Aleckson is another nail biter. Malani is covering for her foster sister, Riley, and giving a surf board lesson to a new student. Lukas is a Minnesota farm boy who has never been to the ocean. They get through the basics of how to surf and go out into the ocean where things get interesting. Malani is knocked off her board and almost downs. Lukas is able to save her and get them back to shore. When they leave, Malani find her jeep vandalized! Wondering what's going on, they delve deeper as Riley turns out to be missing. Family, friends and faith keep them afloat as the mystery gets deeper and more dangerous.
Fractured Memories by Lynn Shannon is a high paced cold case murder mystery. Felicity is now a Texas Ranger who witnessed a murder when she was a teenager. Her memory blocked it out and the murderer was never found. The case was reopened in her home town and she was assigned to help work at solving the case. Her childhood friend, Noah, is a detective there and will work with her to solve the case. This keep you on the edge of your seat as they work to solve the case.

Awesome read. All 4 stories
Undertow by Lisa Phillips: I was glad to see Peter finally get his own story. He and his twin brother Simon have been minor characters in several of Phillips books.
Lynn Shannon is an author I really like, and loved her Ranger story
Michelle Aleckson and Rebecca Hemlock were both new authors to me, and I loved their stories. Hemlock has a few series that look very intriguing

great suspense collection

This Summer Heat collection is another great set of stories that will have readers on the edge of their seats. The only problem with this collection is that I really want to know more about the characters in every one of these stories! Truly. I will need to look at these authors’ other works to see if I can read more from these characters and settings. I highly recommend this book to lovers of Christian romantic suspense.

This collection contained some of the best mystery/romances I've read in a while! They are, first of all, clean, which is always important to me. They are inspirational, another good mark in my book. Each one of these stories is full of suspense and mystery and made the book a page-turner. The romance was sweet and the end of each one was a happy ever after. This collection is great for mystery lovers who like some romance thrown into the mix.

Undertow-3 Stars
The action part was good in the story.Romance was okay. There was hardly any background provided of MCs.

Swept Away & Lethal Inheritance-2 Stars
Under developed characters. Both the stories were boring.I was skimming through the pages after a while.I dont know why the MCs liked each other.(More so in Swept Away)

Fractured Memories-3.25 Stars
This was the only story which had some well developed characters.Even the romance was believable.

All four of these books were well written and kept my interest in the story till the end. They are good law enforcement mystery stories with romance. They are good clean reads. I will read more of their books. I do not want to give away the story plots so as not to spoil it for others. I highly recommend each writer for her ability to write and include her faith. Thanks for 4 good reads.

excellent writing

Thoroughly enjoyed all three books. Characters became like real life friends. Struggles in life are real! Decisions we make, some forced upon us. God loves us, He sent His Son, and then His Holy Spirit to lead and guide us til He comes again to take us who’ve accepted His precious gift to eternal glory!
