Librarian Note: There is more than one author by this name in the Goodreads database.

I graduated from the College for Creative Studies in 2004 with a BFA in illustration, my love of cartooning and comics has led me to where i am today.

I've done licensed work for DC, Marvel, Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, My Little Pony:Friendship is Magic, Fraggle Rock and more. I love being a nerd, so being able to draw nerdy things for a living is the best thing ever.

I'm married to the best guy ever. Ryan keeps me grounded.

I have a daughter, Grayson, who is my booger-y little destroyer of worlds.

I like my cats... a LOT.
...Our dog isn't too bad.

I live in a state shaped like a mitten.

The constant support of my family, pets, friends, and even complete strangers, is what drives me to succeed in art. Thank you everyone, because of you, I am what I am.

Which means... I'm all your fault.

I'll warn people that there is a slight spoiler in this review. It's nothing major, but if you aren't a fan of spoilers and want to know if you should buy it, you should. Go for it.

OK. Still here?

One of my favorite things about the comics so far is that the artwork tends to be fairly creative. The artist really tries to give a little bit of a distance from the animated series artwork. This will undoubtedly help out in the long run with plots, character development, or whatnot that people might say is slightly out of the ordinary for the animated series. The only frustrating thing for some might be that the artwork occasionally seems too different from the character designs they've grown to love.

Story-wise, there isn't much to complain about. There are some parts here that are downright adorable such as "George" and "teddy bear". Pinkie Pie really does steal the issue, but when doesn't she tend to do so with her antics? My only true gripe is that (spoiler) the Mane Six have their friendships broken by Queen Chrysalis's antics. I didn't really mind it overall, but my eyes did roll at how quickly these guys will jump to the assumption that their best friends will talk smack about them and not try to figure things out. Especially if they're up against someone known for her duplicity and the ability to create clones.

Overall though, this is definitely work getting, despite the inevitable impulse to collect all of the different covers.

The art style is growing on me a little, as the artist is just really clever with backgrounds and all sorts of cool little bits.

I'm really liking where these comics are going. The changlings are a little smarter in this volume than they were in the first, and their attack strategy (without spoiling) was very believable. It fit well with the characters and what we've seen of them in the show.

It's hard to say much else about the volume, where it's so small, but I really enjoyed it.

Got this free from Net Galley. A little confused at what was going on at parts, but loved the art. The story was not bad and the dialogue made me chuckle a few times. I was going to go with three stars, but my kids said "FIVE STARS! They walked on a rope to the moon and it was awesome!" They'll be crushed if they knew I gave it four. (Good thing my six and four year olds aren't big social networkers.)

A fun, cute comic series with lots of jokes to appeal to both an older audience as well as a younger audience.

It was really funny - I love how the 3 little girls that the ponies were trying to save didn't even care they were trapped in a slimy thing! - Chloe, age 7

The genre of this book would be fantasy since this is about animals talking and being given other human qualities. The target audience would be intermediate elementary (2nd-4th). The copyright of the book is 2015.
Text to Self: This book is a lot about problem solving while the pony friends try to get to the Changeling Kingdom. This relates to me because I love problem solving and mysteries and trying to figure out the answer.
Text to Text: This book reminds me a lot of the Pete the Cat books. Both are fantasy books that bring animals to life for kids, and they are always a fun read.
Text to World: I think this book is a great way to help people and connect with problem solving skills. The ponies face many adversities while trying to get to the Kingdom (i.e: running into a cave troll) so they have to find a way out of a sticky situation. While this may not be a realistic situation, people can help understand thinking of different ways to solve a situation.

This story is heartbreaking. I can't decide if I love it, or hate it. It builds up the emotion, then makes the feels come out. Masterful piece of art.

I liked this. The story is more interesting than the previous volume, and I think this one is funnier. The art is very pretty, especially the coloring. There are a lot of very nice backgrounds.

Mya says, "Rarity worked very hard on the pony statue. Then, the troll named one of them George, and Rarity was very sad and disappointed."
