For readers looking for a hero beyond the dark and broody, a hero who takes care of his woman, one who can make you laugh, cry, and melt like a kiss on the beach (yes, double-entendre, lol), you will fall hard for Ian. You will have a hard time seeing his flaws, and you'll see Alice struggle with the same problem.
Alice has had nothing but grief from cops, from her troubled teen years to the event that devastated her family. It'll take more than Ian's charm to sway her. He'll have to give her what she needs most from him: honesty. But the truth is the last thing he wants to face, especially regarding the particular case they must work together on.
If you've read Immortalis #1, Bad Mouth, you will recognize most of the secondary characters, but a few new ones are introduced here. Izel is an early favorite--a tough, confident vampire not afraid to deal with the most powerful vampires in the Immortalis, including Kade.

First off, this was such a great book I read it in one sitting. Yes, I love it - how could I not? Killian McCready (Ian) is an Immortalis Tracker, the vampire version of a cop. He does things his own way, but gets results. After a few hundred years of being a Tracker (cop), how could he not? Alice Capshaw has come in to cover for Val while Val and Kade are in seclusion. Alice believes things are black and white and that cops like Ian always do what they want and has a good reason to think so; or does she? As soon as Alice steps in, there is a situation that requires her immediate attention and requires her to work alongside Ian. (What a tragedy!) Sparks fly between them right from the get go, and it's amazing. Ian is freaking gorgeous, not to mention Irish, so he's got that going for him too. The playful banter that Ian and Alice have is endearing from the start. And once things go in a romantic direction, whoa!! Talk about melting you into a puddle of goo - damn! Angela is a fantastic writer, with a quick wit, great storylines, amazing characters and oh my damn sexy love scenes. I am loving this series and the author!! I can't wait until the next book is released, and this one isn't really out yet. Wonder if that one will be about the broody Declan? Can't wait to find out.

Bad Cop is Ian and Alice's story. I loved the interaction between the two of them they were very funny and the sexy times were hot. As with book 1 I can't get enough of Ezra I want his book now and I'm looking forward to Declans story and to find out who broke his heart.

Ian is a bad ass vampire cop - a Tracker - and he doesn't care how you get out of his way, as long as you do. He lost his family and his softer emotions a while ago and has decided he doesn't miss them. He has his job and his small circle of long time friends and those are his priorities. Until his friend and prince , Kade, does the craziest thing by falling in love and marrying a HUMAN woman. All of a sudden there are humans - people he all of a sudden has to protect and care about - in his life. This puts him off balance and makes him a little grumpier than usual.
Alice is a woman who lost her family in a tragedy that she always blamed on the police. And that made her distrust and even hate them and anyone who has power over the innocents and abuses it. That is why she works with Val, Kade's wife, and why she took over for her when she went into seclusion. And of course how she ended up stuck assisting Ian in an investigation. In Alice's world, things are black or white. You are either on her side or against her - no in-between's. No grey areas. So meeting Ian - meeting other Trackers and the human police they trust - and being drawn into his world puts her off balance and has her feeling defensive and in over her head. Alice HATES feeling out of control in any situation but especially one involving the law and people she cares about.
When I was thinking about my review and which part I liked best I realized I liked the communication between Alice and Ian the best. At first these two are at odds - each assuming the worst of the other and denying the attraction they felt. This meant they were standoffish and sometimes quite rude but even then they listened. And not just superficial listening where you are polite enough to not talk over each other but real listening, with your ears and eyes and brain so you can hear the words and what is and what ISN'T said and also "hear" what their body language is telling you. This is something that author Angela McCallister does really well - in both books - but for me it was quite apparent between these two from the beginning. And I found I thoroughly enjoyed every interaction between these two. Whether it was rude or sarcastic or brutally honest or even generous and forgiving - these two together was a true pleasure.
This is the second book in the Immortalis series and while it can certainly be read as a stand alone book having read book #1, Bad Mouth, gives you more understanding of the terminology and hierarchy within the vampire race. You also get a better picture of just who everyone is and how they connect to each other. I loved and recommend both as well as anything else Ms. McCallister will write for us.

Bad Cop completely surpassed my expectations. I had a hard time getting into the first quarter on the book (politics and posturing, which just doesn't keep me engaged in any kind of fiction), but once the pace picked up it was nearly nonstop. There are so many little things to love about this story that take it from "good" to "great". Offhand remarks that become inside jokes for Ian and Alice, the manly-yet-deep bond between Ian and Dec that is all kinds of sarcastic fun, subtle layering of additional background info on the vampire caste system and their abilities, the believable progression on the part of both main characters that navigates two seemingly polar opposite paths... the list goes on.
One of the things I loved most about the story though was the gentle intensity of the growing bond been Ian and Alice. It was sweet, charming, and sexy, and those two have some serious chemistry in the bedroom (and against the door, and in the middle of the street... hah!). I also liked that while Ian is undoubtedly an alpha male type, he treats Alice with the utmost respect and care. And Alice might consider herself "just a secretary" but this chick has smarts, courage, and backbone and she's not afraid to use 'em against even the big bad vampires.
Bad Mouth, the first book in this series, was good and a solid debut novel for author Angela McCallister, but Bad Cop takes this series to a whole new level. I really want to keep reading about these guys- all of them, even the humans- and can't wait to see how the looming inter-caste hostility escalates. Angela McCallister has a special talent for bringing the readers right into the heart of the characters and she's only just getting started!

Loved it. Absolutely loved it. The lengths Ian and Alice go through for each other truly tugged at my heart. The flow of the story kept me turning the pages to see how the story ended.
The characters introduced in the first awesome book in this series, Bad Mouth, were developed a little more, and I am without a doubt going to read every single book in to series. The guys are all so lovable!

Bad Cop by Angela McCallister
NOTE: While Bad Cop is easily a standalone novel, to get the best understanding of the vampire politics and the character references, it is advisable to read Bad Mouth prior to Bad Cop.
Val asks Alice to take over her duties as Vice Director at VLO during her pregnancy and for a few months thereafter. The only problem is Alice’s hatred of cops. She saw them as swaggering, bullying cocks, one and all. She needs the massive pay raise to get out of debt and care for her brother, Zach.
No sooner had she taken a seat than the phone rang with a murder case requiring her presence. It appeared a freshly turned vampire had been killed.
Ian, a vampire Tracker, arrived at the scene to find it overrun with humans. He was furious; humans were messing with evidence. This was a vampire murder. Once he examined the murder, he was chilled. It bore a striking similarity to a murder case that was closed 50 years ago.
In order to get to the bottom of the crime, Ian and Alice are going to have to work together. Can Alice put her deep-rooted prejudices regarding police officers behind her?
Bad Cop has all the elements of a great book: murder, mystery, intrigue, passion. Angela McCallister is great at creating believably flawed, but lovable characters. While often such flawed characters are traditionally men, in this case, the flawed character is Alice, a strong-willed, but often irrational woman in her beliefs about police officers. Her beliefs could cause some serious problems.
McCallister has created the wonderfully scrumptious Ian to work beside Alice. Ian, who almost walks off the page he is so alive. He is kind, funny, sweet, tender, passionate, and only barely flawed. He is almost every woman’s panty-dropping dream.
Angela McCallister has been well recognized for her world-building skills and she expands those skills in Bad Cop. The world created in Bad Mouth grows and takes even more shape. The secondary characters become more recognizable, laws more familiar, and primary characters stop in to say hello. Characters are all believable.
McCallister has a knack for creating life on the page. She spins words into breath for her characters and who then walk into life in the readers’ heads. Few authors can create characters with the level of cult following as McCallister.
Readers should definitely dive head-first into Bad Cop.

Alice and Ian. She hates cops and guess what.....he is a vampire cop. Forced to work together and the sparks fly! I love the way they both have the same quirky sense of humor and the way they fight against the fact they have feelings for each other. They finally admit it to themselves but it takes a tragedy to make them finally admit it to each other. Together they can do anything. Even find a killer. I had not read the previous book but I was able to truly enjoy this one.

Killian (Ian) McCready is a vampire and works for the Legion Trackers, the covert organization tasked with enforcing law and eliminating rogues in the Vampire world. He is not averse to bending a few rules to administer justice, especially when those who are guilty have been set free.
Tasked with finding out who is murdering newly changed vampires, Alice and Ian must work together to solve the crime, even though their methods cause friction between them. Despite the powerful attraction Alice & Ian feel towards one another, Ian’s disregard for the law comes continues to come between them.
As the hunt for the killer heats up and things in Alice’s personal life take a tragic turn, Alice begins to question the circumstances that have led her to take such a hard line on always playing by the rules. Will both Alice and Ian be able to see past their differences and find a future together?
This is book #2 in the Immortalis series and I don’t think I missed out on much by not reading book #1, Bad Mouth, first. Both Alice and Ian were great characters who bantered back and forth with the right mix of humor and heat. Ian is totally on board with having a relationship with Alice right from the beginning, but she holds him at arm’s length due to their differences. The backstory to Alice’s prejudices and the suspense of the current murder investigation keep you turning pages.
The supporting cast of characters, including Ian’s Tracker friends and Alice’s friends Piper and Val, were colorful and had me laughing with their banter. I can’t wait to see where Angela McCallister takes the series from here with all these great characters to write about! The vampire lore is also different from other stories, which was refreshing.
I would definitely recommend this book for anyone looking for a great PNR story with lots of heat, a bit of humor, and some mystery. A great read!

My new favorite couple!
Every once in a while a book comes along that I enjoy so much I struggle to review it. Where I sit in front of the computer screen and squish my face up in concentration only to gasp a bit and splutter in frustration. BAD COP is one of those.
I really liked BAD MOUTH because it had a great world set up, a world worthy of urban fantasy. The world is the kind you want to dive into for hours and meet every major player in it. While I enjoyed Kade and Valerie a lot, they just weren't quite a perfect fit for my tastes as a reader. The hints at Alice and Ian had me really interested in what BAD COP would deliver and let me tell you... McCallister knocked it out of the ballpark. If you enjoy characters with ridiculously thick chemistry you will love Alice and Ian.
I don't often love heroines, I just have a weird tendency not to relate to them as much as I relate to heroes, but Alice was an instant favorite for me. I loved that she was such a fighter, so capable and likable. Killian and Alice's back and forth of calling one another "wench" and "hick" was one of my favorite parts of their courtship, it made their relationship feel real to me. They definitely have a playful and passionate relationship that I think most readers will love.
While their romance is the heart of the storyline there's also a mystery to be unraveled and it was one area I was eager to figure out. It's a rare thing when an author can pull a fast one on me and surprise me, especially in a category romance (I mean, the genre thrives on predictable tropes). To have a shocking moment was like finding a nice suitcase and then opening it up to find it was full of money. lol
Suffice it to say that if I'd found any flaws in this one I'd have had the review up much sooner. I gave it some time in hopes I'd find something negative to say about it and I got nothing. If you enjoy paranormal romances and in particular couples who have a lot of sensual tension and banter that's amusing you should give it a read. One of my favorite romance couples to date and a series I am eager to force on my friends. ;)

Alice doesn't like many cops. That would be fine but she has to work along side of them so it makes it hard. What makes it even harder is a vampire cop named Ian. She doesn't like the way he bends rules and does as he pleases but he sure does make her have all kinds of fantasies. Ian does his job anyway he can to get results done. Knowing he shouldn't he begins to want her. They have to work together to bring the vampire killer to justice. Mistrust may tear them apart before they even have a chance to see if it will work. The case is getting more dangerous and they will have to figure things out quickly.
Alice has has a bad experience with cops and it shows. She is the type who likes to follow the rules and stick to them. She has a very fiery personality and doesn't back down. I liked her as she has lots of spunk plus she gets to work with Ian. Ian is the yummy vampire I want for my own. He is tough, sexy and I love his wit. if your looking for the next great vampire romance book well here it is. I loved everything about this book from the beginning to the end. I have to say I had the killer pegged wrong as who it was for a while and the author does a great job with that. There is lots going on and you have to keep reading to see what will happen next. Alice and Ian belong together even if they don't even know it yet or want to admit it. Both are stubborn and hard headed and that gets in the way sometimes but they work really well in the bedroom. They seem to bring out the best in each other without trying to. Alice has some tragedy and Ian is willing to be right there for her if he can. He always ask about her and that just made him crawl into my heart that much more. Alice has o learn not everything is as it seems and she really grows from that. Ian has to deal with some self doubt and it makes him greater for it to see he realizes he could make mistakes. If you looking for a hot read with a wonderful plot and amazing characters pick this up. It's the second book in the series but can be read as a stand alone.

I have to say I had the killer pegged wrong as who it was for a while and the author does a great job with that. There is lots going on and you have to keep reading to see what will happen next. Alice and Ian belong together even if they don't even know it yet or want to admit it. Both are stubborn and hard headed and that gets in the way sometimes but they work really well in the bedroom. They seem to bring out the best in each other without trying to. Alice has some tragedy and Ian is willing to be right there for her if he can. He always ask about her and that just made him crawl into my heart that much more. Alice has o learn not everything is as it seems and she really grows from that. Ian has to deal with some self doubt and it makes him greater for it to see he realizes he could make mistakes. If you looking for a hot read with a wonderful plot and amazing characters pick this up. It's the second book in the series but can be read as a stand alone.

Just finished and I gotta say, I’m a very happy camper! So what did I like about Bad Cop? Since it's exciting, suspenseful, filled with great characters and romance, pretty much everything I enjoy. The pacing of the story was very well done with the just the right amount of buildup leading to a WOW! ending. The author did a very good job reeling me with her story telling abilities, keeping me so riveted I was up to the wee hours of the morning to finish it.
I really love a story that has solid strong lead characters and Bad Cop completely fits my bill. Unlike the previous book, I immediately figured out Ian is supposed to be a bad cop, but he isn’t a bad…he’s wickedly delish! Charismatic, witty, and too sexy for his own good. Yup, that’s what I like in my men. As for Alice, tough, smart and fairly sexy herself, she was a complete delight. I appreciate how she’s not didn’t portray her as a weakling but just as tough and strong Ian. Their smarmy comments are quick and humorous, and the sexual heat (fans myself) was very nice. Of course, no story would be complete without its supporting cast. Ms. McCallister creates the most interesting secondary characters and instead of them just being fillers, they are all real contributors to the storyline. The men are all these tough guys but I find them all so yummy and their banter had my laughing. (Can I add that Declan needs his own book now?).
Between her great characters and excellent storytelling, Angela McCallister is definitely an author worth following. While each book in the Immortalis series works well as a stand-alone, I highly suggest reading both books as a series. I gotta say I read every word, including the acknowledge. Any fan of this series will be squealing like a schoolgirl if they do. Anyone who likes vampire books will enjoy Bad Cop and I highly recommend reading it.

Alice hates cops. She works for the VLO, Vampire Liaison Office. When she investigates the death of a newly changed vampire, Alice is forced to work with Ian, a Vampire Cop, to solve the case. Someone is killing new vampires, and the case is very familiar to Ian. He thought he solved a case just like this one years ago. Did he kill the wrong man?
I had a hard time getting into this book at first. I’m not sure why. I almost gave up on it, but I’m glad that I didn’t. Bad Cop is the 2nd book in the Immortalis series, and I was worried that I would be lost since I didn’t read the first book, Bad Mouth. This worry was unnecessary as the further I got into the book, the more I realized I knew exactly what was going on. I think that if I had read the first book, it would have giving me bits of insight to some of the characters, but I don’t think it took away from the overall read of this book.
There is an obvious attraction between Alice and Ian. Alice is so set in her hatred of cops that for a good portion of this book, she fails to see that not everyone is the same. Is Ian a perfect cop in his methods? No. But would I consider him a “dirty” cop? No. The attraction between them is really sexy and you know the sex between them is going to be explosive, but they need to just do it already. There is a scene after he gets shot that gets pretty hot, and that’s the first time we see any kind of sexy times but it felt like a long time until there was another such scene.
Overall I liked this book. It had a lot of action, plenty of mystery, and enough sex to keep it interesting without it overrunning the story. I’m not big into the sex scenes, and for me, if there is too much sex it takes away from the focus of the story. McCallister strikes a good balance between all of the different elements of the story and I enjoyed reading it.
I would recommend this book to pretty much anyone that likes a crime type book with a touch of vampire and sex. It’s pretty low key on the violence, so there really isn’t much more in this book than in any other.

Here I go again, reading stories out of order in series. This could be a stand alone, but it does reference people and events that happened in the previous book.
I like the smart and sometimes snarky dialog between Alice and Ian and even between Ian and Declan. The story was a very action packed, and the pace of the story well written. The book really has all the elements I look for in a good story, with a super exciting ending!
Alice is smart, determined and tough. She is very distrustful of cops because of incident involving her twin as a teen. She has a tough time trusting Ian, who comes off as a bad cop, but is really just as determined as her and that sometimes leads to choices that come off as bad. Ian really is a sexy, charmer, who protects as what he sees as his. Alice and Ian are really great with each other, in that they bring out the best in each other and holy hotness when Alice and Ian get sexy is it steaming!
I will definitely go out and get the first book in the series!

I signed up to do a review on this book without actually reading the blurb on the book, the blurb was there to read but I looked at the cover and signed up from that alone! So you could say that I begun reading this without knowing what to expect.
By now you should know that as much as I love vampires when they are portrayed as very dark scary predators, I am only human and still love a good sexy male vampire too!
In Bad Cop Alice is thrown head first into a new job role; Vice Director of the VLO(Vampire Liaison Office); as her boss; Val; is temporarily leaving through pregnancy. Alice agrees to take the job as there is a hefty pay rise accompanying the promotion, which means that she can continue to pay for the medical care for Zach. However the promotion means that Alice will have to work with the police more, this is a problem for Alice as she doesn't like cops, since Zach was shot by a cop 6 years earlier.
No sooner was Val out the door than Alice receives a phone call informing her of a murder, a newly turned vampire murder at that. If the vampire wasn't a rogue then Alice knew she would have to deal directly with the Immortalis, more specifically the Legion Trackers. Cue Killian "Ian" McCready; a seriously hot Vampire(Legion Tracker)! Alice and Ian end up working the murder together especially when another newly turned vampire winds up dead.
As things progress it becomes clear that Alice and Ian have feelings for each other, as much as they try to deny it to themselves.
I found this book captivating. I was engrossed from the beginning. I love the way it has been written and I love the twists in the plot two, and how the characters are engaging. As well as underhanded behaviour, murder and violence; there is a story of love, lust and romance too.
This is another author that I will be devouring more of her work and will definitely be recommending this book to others too.

This is the second book in the Immortalis series and I really enjoyed it. I did not read the first book yet, but I was able to read this without feeling lost in the story. The interaction between the characters was so great that it kept me reading to see what would happen next.
Alice has a good reason not to like cops, as far as she is concerned most of them are dirty. She’s dealt with Ian before, and even though he’s a vampire cop, she thinks that he’s just like all the rest of them. He’s forced his way into the murder case that her agency is working on, and thinks that he can investigate any way that he wants. He may be one sexy vampire, but she is not going to accept that he does not follow the rules.
Ian believes in fighting for justice, so he really doesn’t like Alice’s accusations about how he gets it. He knows they have nothing in common but can’t help the desire that he feels for her. He’s falling for her even though she’s a human and he shouldn’t touch her, but Ian usually does whatever it takes to get what he wants.
The recent murders are very familiar to Ian, but he knows they cannot be the same because he solved that old case a very long time ago. Something has to be different about the new murders, but if he doesn’t figure out what it is it will be the end of him when the secrets of the past are revealed.

Bad Cop is an interesting and complex story about Alice Capshaw and Killian “Ian” McCready. Alice Capshaw is the temporary Vice Director of the Vampire Liaison Office which handles the “legal issues, regulations, and enforcement regarding vampire society, the Immortalis.” Killian McCready is a vampire that works for the Legion which is the law enforcement arm of vampire society. He tracks vampires that have committed crimes and he is very good at his job.
Alice and Ian’s worlds collide when they end up working together to solve a string of murders that involve newly turned vampires. Their attraction to each other is immediate and it plays a crucial role in the murder investigation. Their expected love story is typical but everything else about the book isn’t. I had issue with the caste system that involves the vampires. They had a heirarchy that resembles society’s own upper, middle, and lower class. There was so much politics involved that I felt that it took away from the romantic elements of the story. Since the book was part of a series, I may have had a different perspective if I had read the previous book.
To be fair, I did like the fact that although this was a paranormal romance, the relationship between Alice and Ian was rather normal. Ian was over 600 years-old, wealthy, and took his job very seriously. Alice was barely getting by before she took over as Vice Director but she was no damsel in distress. She doesn’t like cops due to something that happened to her brother but she can’t ignore her attraction to Ian. They go through the usual roller coaster ride before they finally realize that they belong together. All in all it’s a fun ride minus the politics. I would recommend this book.

Bad Cop is the second book in the Immortalis series but since it was published in 2013 without any word about the next installment since – it looks like this is the end of the line. Which is fine with me. Like its predecessor Bad Mouth, Bad Cop is equal parts conventional romance and paranormal mystery. It’s not a bad book – it just didn’t hold my interest.
Bad Cop follows characters introduced in Bad Mouth. Alice has taken over as temporary head of the Vampire Liaison Office as her predecessor Val is off playing house and being preggers with her mate the Vampire Kade – as he tries to negotiate being the youngest heir to the Immortalis throne. Alice in her new role now needs to work with law enforcement – which includes the trackers – or Vampire cops; and the problem she encounters is that she HATES cops. In Alice’s world all cops are dirty, lying, law breaking, self serving thugs (my words) and also dishonest reprobates (hers). Having to work with vampire cop Ian pushes all of her buttons because not only does she believe he embodies all of her prejudices, he is also incredibly hot – so imagine how frustratingly annoying THAT is.
Alice and Ian are thrown together working a murder case and romance slowly blossoms. They banter and call each other cute names – like frustrating wench and Irish hick – and sadly I just wasn’t feeling it. Then there was the mystery of who and why someone is killing newly turned vampires and copy-cating ritualistic murders from The Infancy Killings - 50 years prior. (During which time in the resolution of this case Ian may or may have not done a very bad thing – depending upon your point of view). Sadly the story also did not grab me. It was a very long 215 pages.
There was lots of set up for future installments – Ezra, Declan, Graham to name a few – but it looks like for now the Immortalis have bitten the dust.

At first I was a little nervous about this one. I'm still getting used to the whole paranormal genre, not to mention the fact that I'm actually liking them. I was also concerned over not having read the previous book, but it turns out I worried over nothing. I've been lucky to get a lot of ARC's from Entangled (including this one) and I haven't been let down yet. Whatever they don't send me is an auto buy for me, and that now includes book 1 which I can't wait to read Kade and Val's story.
Alice isn't happy. She's depressed, has migraines and panic attacks. She works all the time and struggles to support her brother who's in a coma. She works at the VLO (Vampire Liason Office). Her friend and boss Val is taking a leave of absence and wants Alice to step in. On her first day a murder case drops in her lap. The victim is a newly turned vampire. The papers for turning the victim into a vampire haven't been filed so technically the case belongs to the VLO, the Legion Tracker who's been assigned feels the case is theirs since it involves a vampire.
Killian (or Ian) is the Tracker. He doesn't understand Alice's by the book way of doing things. He's willing to work outside the lines if it gets the job done. He agrees to work with Alice, but both are holding things back due to their own past traumas. They must work together to stop the killings and find the murderer while trying to resist the mutual attraction.
I loved loved loved Ian's character in this book. I always like it when the male character is the one pursuing a serious relationship. I felt really bad for him though with the way Alice kept sending mixed signals! Can't wait for the next book, but at least I can read the 1st one while I wait.

In the world of the Immortalis (vampires), there are two castes. They are the Dominorum (ruling class) and Legion (lower class) vampires. They live in an uneasy peace with humans. There are also subjugates, who are humans who serve the Dominorum, waiting to be turned into the Immortalis.

In Bad Cop, Alice is suddenly appointed Vice Director of the Vampire Liaison Office. For personal reasons, she has a prejudice against cops. They're all dirty, aren't they? But in her new position she must work directly with Killian (Ian), a Legion Tracker. Essentially a cop. And he starts right off working down and dirty.
And yet she's been attracted to him from the moment she met him in Bad Mouth.
Alice fights Ian and fights her attraction to him, but Ian is patient with her. The case they're working on is deadly, though, and more of a threat to them than either suspect.
My thoughts:
I liked Alice. She thought she had a good reason for being prejudiced against cops. And she had nothing against vampires, unlike Val from Bad Mouth.
I loved Ian. He knew he wanted Alice, and he was patient with her. He did what he needed to do as far as being a cop, but he was also protective and kind and even funny around Alice.
Angela McCallister has a way of surprising me with her plots. I didn't expect her to do to Alice and Ian what she did. (You'll just have to read the book to find out.)
With the way things turned out, I have to wonder if we won't be seeing more of Alice in future books.

Having not read the first book in this series, I had no real expectations. That being said, the lack of experience with the series did not at all stop me from thoroughly enjoying this book.
I love reading contemporary vampire romance books. This one takes place in a world where vampires are in the open and consist of two different "types" that make up their rather archaic system of ruling. Our main character is Alice. She's tough in her own right and is dealing with the heavy burden of her dying twin brother. Even with that weight on her shoulders, she manages to step into the position acting as a vampire liaison head. As far as my understanding goes, this involves coordinating investigations and a lot of paperwork. And hot vampires. That's where Ian comes into play. He's a hot vampire Tracker, in charge of policing his own kind and tracking down rogues. When they are forced to work together, the sparks fly. This book doesn't shy away from the smut, and for that I was grateful.
Of course there are issues, secrets, and misunderstandings, just like in every other paranormal romantic situation (especially in this one because Alice has a particular ax to grind when it comes to cops). These books appear to be relatively self contained, so the story wraps up nicely with no cliffhangers, and a good HEA.
I really enjoyed reading Alice and Ian's story and will have to keep an eye out for other books from this author. I could always use more hot vampire romance on my kindle!
Having not read the first book in this series, I had no real expectations. That being said, the lack of experience with the series did not at all stop me from thoroughly enjoying this book.
I love reading contemporary vampire romance books. This one takes place in a world where vampires are in the open and consist of two different "types" that make up their rather archaic system of ruling. Our main character is Alice. She's tough in her own right and is dealing with the heavy burden of her dying twin brother. Even with that weight on her shoulders, she manages to step into the position acting as a vampire liaison head. As far as my understanding goes, this involves coordinating investigations and a lot of paperwork. And hot vampires. That's where Ian comes into play. He's a hot vampire Tracker, in charge of policing his own kind and tracking down rogues. When they are forced to work together, the sparks fly. This book doesn't shy away from the smut, and for that I was grateful.
Of course there are issues, secrets, and misunderstandings, just like in every other paranormal romantic situation (especially in this one because Alice has a particular ax to grind when it comes to cops). These books appear to be relatively self contained, so the story wraps up nicely with no cliffhangers, and a good HEA.
I really enjoyed reading Alice and Ian's story and will have to keep an eye out for other books from this author. I could always use more hot vampire romance on my kindle!

The second book in the Immortalis series is an intriguing and captivating read.
Due to Alice’s past, she really doesn’t like cops, especially one who thinks he can change the rules, and then she has to work with the Tracker Ian McCready. Working with Alice is causing his cold heart to thaw and the case resurrecting ghosts from his past. Following the law for her sake could be very well end in disaster for them both when Alice becomes the target.
While the chemistry between the two is hot enough to start a fire, the romance between the Alice and Ian is slow to build due to a few issues they each have. The author portrays both their personalities and emotions with vivid clarity connecting the reader to the characters. All the characters are strong and charismatic drawing the reader further into the world created by this author.
The action and suspense is well written with great detail, making the reader feel as if they are part of the story. The personal conflict between the hero and heroine as well as the events in the main conflict flow smoothly and set at an excellent pace that keeps the reader’s attention and doesn’t let go.
The author has created a bewitching world where vampires live uneasily along- side humans that keeps readers entertained from beginning to end. Unfortunately, I have not read the first book in this series….yet, but I had no problem catching up with this world and I am looking forward to reading more books in this absorbing series.

I read the first book of this series and fell in love with the characters. This is the second book of the series and is about vampire Ian and human Alice. Both characters were introduced in the first book.
This book started a little slow, but I was glad I stuck with it. Also, I was a little lost at the beginning as I had to re-orient to the vampire world and terminology of this series. I had to remember a lot of what had been revealed in the previous book and I think a new reader might become discouraged. A little more time reorienting to the world in which this series takes place would be beneficial.
Nothwithstanding the reorientation, it was a great story and mystery. I found myself baffled as to who is committing the murders. Ms McCallister did a great job with misdirection in the characters to keep the reader pondering. Alice as a little flaky at the beginning but her character really grew during the book. Ian was a solid character from the beginning, but his self-examination gave his character depth beyond sexy and smart.
McCallister continues the story of Slavers and really pulls the reader into that mystery as well. More is also revealed of the Immortalis and Legion vs Dominus castes which made me understand them better. Other characters I want to learn more about are Ezra, Ptolomy, and Declan.

I had such high hope for this book especially since i LOVED LOVED bad mouth, I am probably only one of the few who has given it only 3 stars but while I loved Ian and the story line was good though it lacked at bit of originality, I just did not like Alice, god she annoyed me at every turn which was unexpected from reading bad mouth I thought Alice was going to be kickass and with hidden depths turns out I was wrong, she based her views on her brother incident and even then being part of company that investigates she should have known not everyone is a bad cop. Though I wanted to be sympathetic towards Alice and her situation with the brother, at the start of the book I was but after a few pages I wasn't, I couldnt be because of the way she was acting. It was kind of obvious what was going to happen. The end was rushed so many things happened just like a train wreck. I feel so disappointed. I guess I was expecting awsomeness and just got something that could have been awsome but really wasnt.
If i was rating only on Ian i would give 5 stars, not only for other reasons but also because he put up with Alice. I also he should have made alice grovel a bit.

Killian McCready is a Tracker and is captivated by Alice. They must work together to solve a group of murders of newly turned vampires.
Alice finds that Ian is a "Charmer. Freaking infuriating, stubborn, obnoxious, but still a charmer."
I really admired that Ian wore his feeling openly and without concern. His depth of hurt or happiness is fully in Alice's hands. And his relationship with his friend Dec is teasingly funny.
This is a complicated story and I got lost more than once because of the complexity and the fact that it's not the first in the series. It's explained reasonably well, but the number of characters and a couple with similar names across the groups made for slower reading to make sure I knew who and what I was reading about. I think if I had read the prior it may have been a bit easier. A complex vampire romance with political family and caste differences.

This author most definately knows how to mix the paranormal romance with intriguing suspense. Sweaty hot passion getting up between scenes for cool drink while wanting at every turn to help with the clues as they race along to stop a killer.
But I am getting ahead of myself here happens with excitement. Friends, what are they for but to get you out of a funk and on the road to a different level of funk. That is how it all begins when to help out friend and boss takes her place at VLO while she goes on loa. Alice's first day in her place and murder happens and the human that she is goes toe to toe at scene with Legion Tracker Ian. Becoming reluctant partners at first (willing later) they begin to work this case. Classic denial these two-her's for him and his he feels but fears the truth and if she knew it what would she do. One of the aspects of this read that caught my eye was the title and the story behind it as it unfolds leaves you saying oh yeah totally excellant way to bait -hook and reel you in. Is it worth the time to read for sure glad I did. This read could go up against any paranormal romance suspence with a bite and come out on top. Received arc for a honest review.

Alice Capshaw works for the Vampire Liaison Office. When her boss, Valerie Craig, takes a leave of absence, she finds herself directing the day-to-day operations. Once Val walks out the door, murder walks in. So does Killian (Ian) McCready who demands that they work together to solve this case. He is a Legion Tracker and is well know for his skills. He and Alice are opposites. She is human and he is a vampire. She is a stickler for the proper procedures and he bends the rules. Can they work together to solves this case or will more newly turned vampires become victims? Alice and Ian need the strength and support of each other to find this killer as well as to find true love. Angela McCallister has written a wonderful story that is filled with danger, intrigue and a hot romance. Alice and Ian are a wonderful pair. They are both stubborn and determined but neither wants to admit that they need love in their life. The story is so suspenseful that you won't put the book down until you know who and why the crimes were committed. I am anxiously waiting for the next book which is Ezra's story.

They are a contradiction, while both want justice they have different ways of achieving it. How they will ever work together is a mystery, but they are forced to come together to solve a case. Can they both overcome their histories to form a new future? That is what we are reading to really find out and the story is compelling enough with fantastic character to keep us going.
Alice is tricked into accepting a new position. While its a good move for all involved she isnt given much of a chance to say anything but yes. Thinking she will have time to adjust, she is immediately thrown into a case. A case where she ends up running into Ian. Ian has his own interests in the case and after some fun sparring they come to an agreement to work together.
The story is well paced and the characters are interesting and work in the story. They are interesting and worth finding out more about them and how they came to be where they are. They are complete opposites and their sparring while trying to work together is not only fun to read but helps in the character and story development.
I really enjoyed this and the first in the series and am looking forward to more to come.

I am loving this series!! You all know I love me some Vamps, lol. This was such a great read!! Full of action, a little sexual tension that turns into hot a** sex, crazy vampires going around doing crazy things, lol. It was totally awesome!
Alice is on a murder case and has to partner up with Ian, because without the help of the vampire she would never get any info from anyone. Though she detests cops she tries to keep her prejudgments at bay so she can work with him without any incidents, it also doesn't help that she thinks he's absolutely hot. Ian on the other hand, tries to win her over with his funny banter and charm. But as we all know nothing is ever that easy and there are quite a few setbacks in their relationship. The case kind of hits them both in a way where they have to deal with their pasts in order to move forward, not only with the case, but with them as well.
I loved it!! I CANNOT WAIT for the next one!!!
