Success in life requires militancy. Spiritual militancy! A true Christian is called to fight. Yet there are times devout followers of Christ unknowingly allow their warrior instincts to dull. Many of us stand idle while an evil tyrant pilfers our finances, snatches our health, filches our marriages, and makes off with all the promises of the kingdom--the really good stuff God intended for His children. There is good news! God provides an amazing battle plan to regain those things in life that have been snatched away by the enemy of our soul, a strategy that begins and ends with prayer. The Kneeling Warrior gives you the tools you need to develop a warrior’s mentality and passion in your prayer life in order to launch an all-out spiritual attack against your adversary. It is time to reclaim a fulfilling career, a satisfying marriage, a healthy relationship with your kids--and anything else worth recovering.
**NEW BOOK! "The Weapon of Prayer" available NOW**
Dr. David Ireland is founder and senior pastor of Christ Church in Montclair & Rockaway, New Jersey, a 8,000-member congregation of 40 nationalities. Known as the teacher we understand, Ireland is diversity consultant to the National Basketball Association and leads chapel services for the New York Giants and New York Jets football teams, and at the U.S. Pentagon. He is a frequent speaker at seminaries, churches across various denominational lines, and at international leadership conferences.
This is my third time reading this book from my former Pastor in NJ and I tell you, it's powerful. We chose this as our summer read for our small group and having to really dissect this book for study questions has really opened my eyes about the importance and necessary need of prayer.
This is a pretty good book on prayer. It is not a name-it-and-claim-it style book, but rather finding out what God is doing and then going that way. We must first engage our feelings. We must have passion. Perhaps the devil has taken something or threatened to do so. Then we must engage our faith. Ireland has a good section on defensive and offensive weapons, and some of the offensive ones may surprise you, like tithing. Then we engage in the fight. He writes about corporate prayer and prayer of agreement. The only place the book fell short, I think, is discussing the relationship between God's sovereignty and prayer. His agenda for prayer was very good (all the "p" words). This is a book worthy of reading. See my full review at http://bit.ly/16LFBCX.
"God would not create a hunger within us for something he never plans to feed"...This line embodies the theme of Dr.Irelands book! This book perfectly outlines the approaches and tactics needed to develop a deeply rooted relationship with god. I had soo many aha moments learning about how to ask, seek, knock and receive! I am soo glad that I am taking part of Christ Church's 40 day challenge.
If you want to wear the armor of prayer for all of life's battles; then you should read this book. And I'm not just saying this because he's my pastor; I'm saying it because his word is passionate, honest and heartfelt. When I leave New Jersey, I'll truly miss Dr. Ireland; he was chosen to lead us into battle.
