Yumi Unita was born in Mie Prefecture on May 10th, 1972. In 1998, she debuted with "VOICE" in Hakusensha's Young Animal. Since then, she has worked in many genres, having her works featured in seinen, josei, and shounen magazines.
Yup. I really liked it. I kind of want Rin to end up with Kouki and Daikichi to end up with Nitani-san Then again, I think OH. But wait.. I forgot *shudders* Forgot about that. That's where the ick comes in for me. Updated spoiler after having read the whole series:
BTW, don't you hate the typical Japanese girl bully? PSsh. Scrawny b*tch'd get beat if she tried that sh*t here. What the hell is scary about a little thing like her? That she stares you in the eye, shortens her skirt, and makes her hair big? Ooo I'm shaking like a leaf -she doesn't conform!
2.5/5 This no longer feels like the same series and that makes me sad. It feels like a sequel series. It’s now a seinen romance manga but not a very good one. Kouki’s character is dragged through the mud and the whole situation just feels off. There’s some sort of half assed fake pregnancy drama thrown in as well.
Just disappointed at the turn the series took. I’ll probably finish it because there’s not a ton left though.
Man.... I'm not sure I've ever been more bummed about two people not getting together as I am about Daikichi and Nitani-san :( THEY SHOULD BE TOGETHER DESPITE THEIR DUMB KIDS!!!!!!!!!
Though I am SUPER happy that Rin and Kouki are not a couple, despite the fact that they both love each other. Rin is a super amazing character. She is wise beyond her years and her maturity level and ability to think deeply about things is astounding. I really like her a lot as a character.
Well well well, we get to know what happened in middle school and got a bit of Kouki and Rin romance but unfortunately it lasted not so long and now it seems we might just not get it ever. In a way I want Rin to find someone who is much suitable for her. Poor Daikichi and Nitarin-San they can't catch a break. I really ship them together. But I guess that ship won't sail either.
Rin is now in high school and preparing for her college entrance exams. She and Kouki are still sort of friends, but their relationship has been strained by his involvement with another girl – Akari. She seems to have blackmailed Kouki into dating her (I missed vol. 5, which may explain things more fully). Kouki still has feelings for Rin, but Rin doesn’t want to get involved with him and have her heart broken again. Daikichi continues to be a good dad – he’s much more laid back (he should be – 10 years have gone by since he first took Rin in), and he knows when to step in and when to step back. The relationship he has with Rin is still sweet. She is almost an adult! Will the story end when she goes to college? Daikichi’s own relationships with the other sex are faring about as well as Rin’s (which is to say, not well/not at all). He and Kouki’s mother are/were attracted to one another, but due to the awkwardness between their offspring, neither wants to make a move. I’m very curious about what took place in #5.

The way the story bounces between Rin's high school and middle school days with each new chapter is a little confusing, but I enjoy the chance to be able to learn what happened in that missing chunk of time, so I am good with it. I am still enjoying the story, despite the problems between the characters!
Kouri is an idiot but both Daikichi and Rin save his sorry butt even though he probably doesn't deserve it (and I guess they are both probably doing it for Nitani-San).
I love these characters and the mangaku is going to do something awful to them, I know it!!
This volume was a little disappointing, compared to the others. It seemed to go over and over and over the same relationship issues that had been presented in other volumes. My recommendation would be for characters to have had less reflection (it is a GN) and more action!
This was a frustrating read for me. First I was confused by the time-jumping (high school, then middle school, then high school again?) If a chunk of this story was set in middle school, shouldn't it have been at the start of book 5, before the time skip?
Also, I absolutely detest pushy love interests who keep asking and asking and asking, despite constant rejection. NO MEANS NO, BUDDY. BACK OFF. But I was pleased that that was resolved by If it had turned out any other way, this would be a 2-star.
Finally, all the weird rival stuff with love interest Akira. I do LIKE how they gave her more depth than just "she's a mean girl who wants to ruin your relationship." And she had legitimate motivations behind her scheming. Heck, she even made this series finally pass the bechdel test, so. Good on you. But I still don't get WHY she was so hung up on Kouki to begin with? And what was with all that stuff about her brother that never went anywhere...?
Tl;dr, this series has become waaay too much all about the high school drama. I want more "Daikichi being a good dad to Rin," damn it! He had some dad moments, like giving Kouki and consoling Rin after and I like that. I like seeing him parent teenagers as much as he parented children.
The ongoing story of Daikichi, a bachelor, who is the guardian of Rin, a young girl he’s cared for since she was 6 years old.
Rin is about to turn 16 and Kouki is still trying to get her to consider him as a boyfriend. However, she thinks twice based on the what happened in middle school while he was dating the ex, which turns out to be a really toxic relationship where he more or less felt forced into it although he never told Rin that. Rin tries talking to Daikichi who readily admits he’s not the best to talk to about relationships because if he understood it he would have “been married” already. Rin starts to relent and maybe admit that maybe it’s possible with Kouki despite the past only to have his ex make claims that she is pregnant. Is the ex really pregnant with Kouki’s child or is it a scam trying to get him back? Will this latest incident change Rin’s mind about having anything but a friendship relationship with Kouki? Natani-san, Kouki’s mom, and Daikichi meet separately and due to this new dynamic it is decided the two of them cannot have a relationship themselves. Natani-san must decide whether she should wait longer for Daikichi or move on.
I first started reading Bunny Drop back in 2012 and thought it was really cute, so I bought all the volumes up to 7 (which were all that had been published in English at the time). The story and characters go a bit downhill once Rin reaches her teen years, so I actually only ever read through volume 6, but always kind of meant to go back and continue the series eventually. Cut to years later and I learned about the problematic turn the story takes by the end:
Despite that, I've had fond memories of the first few volumes and still owned volumes 1-7 for almost a decade. I needed to decide whether to keep or unhaul the manga, so I finally re-read and completed the unread portions of the manga, since there's only ten volumes. And yeah, it for sure goes downhill after volume 4, and the uncomfortable topic begins in volume 8. I am sort of glad to finally have finished the series and seen for myself how the story devolves. While I do genuinely still like the beginning of this series, I won't be rating any of them because I don't want to encourage anyone to begin reading without knowing the trajectory the story takes, and I don't really want to further support an author who would write this kind of storyline (I read the last three volumes I didn't already own through online scans).
For new readers, I would definitely suggest stopping either after volume 4 or volume 7. Both of those volumes have decent ending points without any of the weirdness of the final volumes. But also this is one of those cases where you should definitely know spoilers before deciding to start reading.
The Rin and Kouki drama heats up as Kouki's past misdeeds come back to haunt him...in multiple ways. And Akari is a bitch. I don't like her. I don't care for her reasons. She's a manipulative, abusive, blackmailing LIAR! Don't physically abuse and blackmail someone into dating you. Don't harass someone repeatedly to get your way! DON'T USE A FAKE PREGNANCY TO SQUEEZE MONEY OUT OF A GUY!
Granted, Kouki's not off the hook for his part in it either, so I understand why Rin still turned him down. I'd hoped Kouki and Rin would get together...maybe they still will...Same with Daikichi and Nitani.
I liked this one better than the last one. I guess I was in shock to see grown up Rin before and now I got used to it? Don’t know. I felt that although this one was sadder in a way it was also cuter. I loved to see Rin declaring her past self and how much emotion it brought. I miss them as kids… It was so simple… I also really liked Daikichi in this book, both with Rin and Kouki.
Ahhhhhh! Why did this volume have to be so complicated and emotional! No, really I enjoyed it. I'm seriously considering purchasing this manga! Even though I'll have the entire series I checked out from the library finished by tonight. Now for the next volume.
First 4 volumes are fine. After that, not so much. It all becomes pretty grossin retrospect. Don't recommend it. I couldn't sleep so I decided to read a series that I had very little context for other than people hated the ending. I see why.
What am I still doing here? I don't care about any of this. It's such a shame because this manga truly has one of my favorite art styles ever, it's so clean and nice. But I just can't bring myself to care about anything happening.
Perhaps the series will be 4* overall - I feel like this one wasnt quite as entertaining as when we first met teen Rin but still dramatic and fun like a soap opera
Yeah, I'm stopping here. I've read the spoilers of what happens in future volumes, and I'm... yeah, no. As far as I care, the series is over here. Seriously, what the fuck.
I dislike a lot the plot development of this one. As I dislike Kouki. Nothing more to be said, I guess. Volume full of childish drama... I am considering also dropping the whole series.
