Paul B. Skousen

Paul B. Skousen is an author and instructor on the United States Constitution. He received his undergraduate from BYU in Journalism and his Master's degree in National Security Studies from Georgetown University.

After graduate school Paul worked for President Ronald Reagan in the White House Situation Room. In addition, Paul was an intelligence officer for the CIA. He received national notoriety when he preserved a large bag of shredded top secret documents, the so-called "smoking gun" from the Iran-Contra Affair, that he sold piecemeal as "shredded secrets from the White House." Paul Harvey and other media outlets covered the unusual story.

Paul has extensive experience interviewing political and military leaders in Egypt, Israel and Jordan, including the former prime minister of Jordan, the political advisor to Egypt's President Mubarak, and senior generals in the Israeli military.

Paul is the author of five books including The Naked Socialist and Treasures from the Journal of Discourses. He has revised and edited several of his father's books including Fantastic Victory, The Cleansing of America, The Five Thousand Year Leap Glenn Beck Edition, and The Majesty of God's Law. He is currently writing the Biography of W. Cleon Skousen, among other projects, and is a frequent speaker and motivational instructor.

Additionally, Paul was a ghost writer for Glenn Beck, a columnist for The Daily Caller, and currently teaches communications and journalism at Utah Valley University.

The word ‘Revolution’ often associated with violent uprisings, lawless pandemonium that, with the exception of the United States, leads to the ascendance of a tyrannical regime with even more laws and impositions to stifle one’s liberties and life. While history has provided a plethora of examples in which these brutal insurrections have taken place; the most widely known being the Russian Revolution in 1917 and the French Revolution in 1789; such fierce imposition through savagery may not be needed any longer.

In Paul B. Skousen’s book, “The Naked Socialist” – Skousen outlines how the history of Socialistic ideas were formed and how they have transformed gradually overtime and always with the same cataclysmic results. The pillars of Socialism may sound euphemistic to those who do not understand the severity of such rule, but when one open’s one’s eyes to the realities of what is happening all around, the implementation and indoctrination of socialism is but the first step to the consolidation of power to a One World governing power.

Major policies are examined from various presidents and other leaders, to demonstrate how, while certain individuals may have ‘good intentions’, that the overall effect was actually strengthening and growing the bureaucracy to unprecedented levels. The very ideas of socialism, fundamentally does not work. The look at Jamestown in 1607 was one example. The idea of redistributing the ‘wealth’ nearly doomed everyone who set sail from the well-established European continent. These policies have caused an avalanche of misery and continues to careen onto evermore drastic ‘Utopian’ ideas which is to the detriment of the hardworking citizens and to nations as a whole.

Since the book’s publication, the decent of Europe is growing more rapidly and clearly as it continues to struggle for power and maintain its lethal policies in the name of humanitarianism or flat-out socialistic goals. Skousen is clear and succinct in presenting the progression of Socialism and the deadly collapses of societies, along with numerous anecdotes at the bottom of the page to further enhance the reader’s understanding of this plague. The so-called ‘goodwill’ policies is often times abused and almost never coming close to achieve the goals that it was intended for but rather grows the pool of misery. The expansion of government is never seen as impeding growth but rather it is the people’s belief in self-governing principles that is often called, ‘selfish’ and ‘evil’. Independence was once viewed as a virtue, now is considered a threat to Socialism. Having understood this, the very ideas that socialists espouse is now trickling into schools, the media and continues to entangle the progress of liberties and freedoms in a web of deceit and false illusions. Stopping what may easily be a bloodless revolution will be a daunting task if one doesn’t understand the end results. ‘The Naked Socialist’ will certainly provide readers with the revelations of what may come if the path of Socialism is continued. Thus, as Ronald Reagan had put it so clearly, “Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We didn't pass it to our children in the bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected, and handed on for them to do the same.”

It really made me see the world with new eyes and I see now how our country is so near to being totally socialist. There were a couple of points I didn't agree with, but I won't mention them here because I don't want to be put in the Gulag. It was dry in a lot of parts that dealt with the history of socialism and some old ways of speaking. Some descriptions were almost legaleze. Some typos too may have made it a bit hard to understand. But all in all, it was worth reading through the whole thing. I have a new perspective on Socialism and now I see it everywhere and understand why people think they want it. It takes a lot of trust in one's self and self-empowerment to let go of our socialist systems so we can be truly free. And this book showed me what that freedom that we really deserve looks like.

Yes. READ THIS ONE. It should be required reading in every junior high and high school. Excellent book finished by the son of the author of Naked Communism - Skousen - people who have seen our system up close. Yes, read this one.

Excellent Read and explaination of Socialism and it's effects.

The tenticles and enticements of Socialism well explained. Every person should read this book and share with the younger generation who see Socialism and dependence upon the government as the way to prosperity.

As good a book as his father's book, 'the naked communist.' It really shows why socialism is not what it seems, and why it is evil.

A mess that vaguely resembles the Protocols of the Elders of Sion. There is this big conspiracy and something. A waste of paper.

Written by Cleon Skousen's son and in a similar format to Cleon's The 5,000 Year Leap, this book was given to me by my friend Michelle Kennedy who is the author's daughter. I would like this book even if I didn't know Michelle.

The author systematically examines socialism, listing topics and subtopics and quotes for each of his ideas. The format and table of contents make this a good reference book and easy to pick up and read from any chapter (or "Part" as Skousen lists his chapters). Each page has an interesting fact or quote in bold at the bottom of the page.

At the heart of this book, Skousen exposes the history of socialism, how socialism is creeping into the world today, the goals of socialism, the proper role of government, and Skousen's view of how to move our government to that "Proper Role".

While this is not exactly a summer beach read, it is very easy to read and understand.

I would recommend this book to everyone, but I know most people lack even the self discipline and desire to pay attention and understand current events. we're in a sad state. We have a great country, but as a society, we are too complacent because we have so much or maybe we are blinded because "our guy(s) are in power now".

An important book. Socialism has never worked once. And why? Because it goes against the human psyche. Using quotes from founding fathers, and numerous cited examples from modern socialist nations, this book makes a case for capitalism.

I found this perhaps the most eye-opening/interesting:

Socialism removes the eight basic freedoms:
1. Freedom to be an independent individual
2. Freedom of choice
3. Freedom to own property
4. Freedom of association (with private healthcare)
5. Freedom of equality
6. Freedom to defend myself against force
7. Freedom to have compassion (creates red tape if you want to aid others)

Griping book on how socialism destroys the host nation. The history of socialisms divisive destructive nature. It impacts the way you think and gives you the knowledge to decipher what they are hiding from us in cultural circles today!

Excellent read to understand what's really going on in politics all throughout world history. This is stuff they don't teach in school, but they should.

For an introductory yet comprehensive overview of Socialism, this would be my recommended reading. After laying out the 7 pillars on which socialism is founded the author gives an historical existence of socialism and shows how it has always been a competing form of governance to freedom and capitalism. One special feature was the review of each of the US Presidents from Taft to Obama showing how each one supported legislative change, supreme court opinions or executive orders to implement socialistic ideas and undermine the foundation provided by the Constitution. I used to hold out hope that somehow the people of America would see what is happening and through the ballot box bring about change. With the current 2020 election turnout it appears Americans love socialism as much as most other countries around the world. We are definitely on course to usher in a new world order most likely under the auspices of the UN or some other higher authority. While I am at the end of life, my heart goes out to my grandchildren who will never have known life outside of a socialistic government. The Appendices are also worth reading.

I thought it was good. I'm not sure I would approach it the same way that I read it though.... I read it like a novel, cover to cover. I think that I would have this as a study text book. Maybe that was the intention of this book and I just never figured it out. However, lots of information. Something I will reference in the future. But I wouldn't recommend reading it cover to cover, very hard to absorb all the information in it.

This took me a while to get through but it was overall a solid read. The format was really well done and felt right with my reading style of juggle a zillion books read a bit of each at a time. The points made were smart and on point. Overall a satisfying read.
