the thing i loved became the thing i hate now. rereading it years later the entire volume consists of one shot chapters , only 1+2+6 is of the same original story. the mix of cultural references is a bit jarring and while i appreciate the authors try on making it in the European scene and not just giving a Japanese setting with and unknown German dad to give the mc blond hear and blue eyes its still a bit unreliable.
I really, really liked this manga despite its' peculiarity. The characters are so perfectly described and so absurd in their actions & feelings, that I couldn't help but love them all. Even Mari's obsessed stalker-colleague-rapist dude.
I didn't really feel bad for Mari, basically because he didn't seem as if he was in love with Jin. It seemed to me they were childhood friends, and just that. Even though they had numerous fights & arguements, several lovers, 'errands' and other stuff to do, eventually they'd always stick together no matter what, so that they'd be able to overcome the loneliness. In the end, the only ones who truly understood & felt for each other, they were Jin & Mari themselves.
So, I guess I took it as a friendship oriented manga, with a nice and not so delicate yaoi approach. Definitely a must read if you can stand the emotional pressure & the bittersweet taste of it.
I got totally hooked up with SHOOWA at the beginning of the new year; bought all of her commercial manga of 7 titles. I can't believer myself I've missed opportunity to read all those cool and funny manga. I love her nifty drawing and also her twisty way of story making. 今まで手に取らなかったことをひどく後悔。この語りは癖になる。
